I have a lot of riding time on one of these classic bikes. I believe the one I rode the wheels of was a 74. Could have been a 73. A friend of mine who had the bike, originally was selling it to me. We were roommates living in a big city working construction back around 05 06 when new houses were being built left and right. Just had to make it 2 or 3 days till Fridays paycheck and that 350 2 stroke twin peice of heaven was going to be mine. Then my roommates phone rang one Tuesday or Wednesday evening. It was my cousin who was inquiring about the bike. His dad ,(my uncle by marriage) wanted a “good learner bike”. My roommate wasn’t intending on selling it to them so when they asked how much he said a big number to scare them off. $2000. I thought this would work too. I then hear and watch my roommate say into the phone I guess I can take $1500. I was only going to pay $300 for the bike. It needed some work. He hung up the phone and said “I’m sorry dude, i would be an idiot to pass on this deal “. I agreed and understood. But to this day I’m still not happy with that outcome. I did ride the shit outta thst bike once my uncle by marriage was the new owner. He didn’t ride it very often. It got away from him every time!!lol. But now I’m pushing 40 and I will own an rz500 or rz350. If I can have it my way I’d want the liquid cooled twin version 350 or 500 and the liquid cooled 350v4

I’d love to find one. I had one exactly like that. It was my first street bike. I had it bored 60 over carbs rejeted and it would bury the speedometer which I did one time and that was enough because at 120 it wants to fly like an airplane.

I had this exact same looking bike, I loved it and it went really well, especially the smell of motel racing oil, I was so sad to sell it due to having to buy a car

600 miles on any vehicle from the mid 70's is absolutely terrifying. I would rather hear it has 7000 miles than 600 unless it's some museum piece.

Traded my 71 Mach3 for an early Z1 in 1973. Rode it 6 years and over 60k miles. No problems ever, except for rusty exhaust pipes. I made a deal with my dealer: I’ll buy a kerker header for anyone who wants one in exchange for their new stock pipes. Helped him sell bikes (I did it three times) and kept me in new pipes for less cost.

Growing up in the 80s i had a 1981 Suzuki GS850L that i bought from a guy who used to drag race. The bike had been rebuilt and had Mikuni Carburetors, it was a fast bike in a Small Texas Town in 1988. We used to do some drag racing just outside town on a straight farm highway, and the Suzuki was unbeatable until a guy from a neighboring town showed up with a Kawasaki KZ1000. The only bike at the time to ever beat the Suzuki GS850L in my town until i left for the Military. That began a Drag Racing affair that lasted for 21 years, i raced a Suzuki for a while and then went to Harley Davidson. A lot of good memories spent at Virginia Motorsports Park in Petersburg, Va.

Great job Pete! Bike looks fantastic. Bought one of those brand new in 1972. That bike would wheelie as much as any H2! When the power ban hit in first gear it was next to impossible to keep the front wheel on the ground!
