I disagree with some of Yzerman's moves (Copp, Petry, Holl, Chiarot), but the second half where you were asking Steve to make a move and accusing him of being timid about trades doesn't match reality. Nearly half the roster was overturned last summer. Yzerman absolutely fleeced Ottawa for Debrincat (similarities to your Bishop trade hypothetical). He took a risk that no other team would take in signing Kane. You guys mentioned the Nick Leddy trade, so that was good. I wouldn't say it's "been quiet" at all for Yzerman. Remember, it takes two and sometimes three to tango with trades. You've got have a willing trade partner, and for high-level players, you often have to get the player to agree to waive an NTC. The same is true for free agents. They are choosing between 32 different options. The message with the 23 guys on the roster each night is not necessarily "these are the best guys," but "these are the best guys we could get and are comfortable playing right now." I disagree with not having Ed, Burgers, and Johan on the team last year, but I don't think Yzerman is taking advantage of fans' trust. Yzerman likes to let his prospects overripen, it's just a philosophy you (and frankly I) disagree with. They believe success in the AHL will lead to confidence in the NHL. Look at Ras for how he was brought up too fast and it hurt his confidence. Again, I agree that they are waiting too long with the prospects. The Wings could take a step back next year due to having to have at least 3 younger guys on the roster next year instead of easing them in 1 or 2 at a time each year. Anyhow, nice video.

Yes these last 2 games i enjoyed so much and it was spectacular! But why are we down 4 to 1? And then in 2nd game were down again??!!! Against montreal? In games that determine our playoff hopes??!! Coaching is below average at best. He’s not an NHL coach. He got the lines wrong forever and he can’t motivate the locker room. I get a vibe the players don’t respect him. He is never mentioned in pressers. Lalonde better get fired or we’re screwed.

It’s unfortunate yzerman had to read the riot act to the coaching staff and players because of lack of compete and effort during losing streak. Not buying this latch ditch effort. Exactly what we deserve.

"Distributed" scoring separated DRW from most all teams, giving them an edge that few other teams had. When things got tight, Newsy shortened the bench and we went on a losing spree. Larkin and Raymond have willed the team back, but Newsy had ensured that his bottom six can no longer be counted on to contribute. Hard to score and getting in the game playing 8 minutes per game. Shame on Newsy and his lack of experience at the helm.

i hate to say it but I agree with every issue you identified. Only thing I would add is lack of toughness/response to other teams' taking cheap-shots at us. We never answer.

The problem im having with SY UFA signings, is there either to old or expected to much, we keep brining in bottom 6 centers that played way above heads on there bottom pairs and then SY decides, that's my second line center right there, like go look up JT, Copp and Pius Sutter when they all played second line for us, its litteraly the spiderman pointing meme, you might as well slot Kasper second line cause ya probably would get the same results sadly

At this point on the season, im more excited for Lucas Raymond possible getting 30 goals, thats really the only exciting thing I see left here

Hey, I'm a Pens fan and had to put up with a lot crap the way the Pens played for most of the year (although there were some great years in the last decade). But I was kind of hoping to see the Wings make it to the playoffs this year, cuz I know that it's been a tough decade for their fans. I still think they have a shot to make the playoffs. I know they have to play the Leafs this weekend (Saturday, April 13, 2024), but they close out the year with a home-and-home against the Montreal Canadiens, who are so down-and-out. On the other hand, the Pens (who are only 1 point ahead, although they hold the tie-breaker) have to play the Boston Bruins this weekend, who I think are much tougher than the Leafs. Then they close out the schedule at home against the Nashville Predators (no easy roll-over), and on the road against the never-say-die Islanders. Washington are at home twice, first against the very tough Tampa Bay Lightning tonight (Saturday), then face the even tougher Boston Bruins on Monday, and close out on the road against the weak Flyers on Tuesday. Overall, I think Detroit has an easier schedule than either Pittsburgh or Washington. So they could still do it.

I know it's an old stat that nobody likes anymore but when you have 13 of you top 18 players with a minus in the +/- it tells me your system is for shit.

You are spot on. I can't disagree with anything you said. Yzerman has not done a good job. Poor coaches, poor development in many cases and ridiculous FA signings.

Worst thing that could happen is for them to make the playoffs and then keeping Lalonde because of it.

With two Montreal games to close out the season, they have the easiest schedude. It is very plausable to see the other teams only win one game each, and Detroit winning two games. The problem is Penguins have been so hot lately.

Raymond, Larkin, Edvinsson are literally the only untouchables in my eyes. Anyone else on the team gets traded I won’t blink an eye. Raymond growing up before our eyes is the only positive this season. Give him an “A” Other than that it’s been another underwhelming season… I’m concerned about our coaching staff, scouting staff, and honestly a little of yzerman. VERY concerned about free agency signings more than anything and a congested roster - now a lot of dead weight. Very concerning. Also Yzerman reading the riot act should tell everyone how soft this team is too.

I think Lalonde is the reason we collapsed. He screwed the lines when Kane came aboard. We were top offensively in the league before him then crumbled. I get it, a new addition like that will throw a wrench into things and it takes some time getting it right but he still hasn’t got it right. Debrincat was a point a game until the lines got shuffled. I feel Lalonde lost the locker room respect in a way and guys aren’t putting everything on the line for him. The “passengers” as you said it are just going through the motions without any emotions. God bless Raymond, Seider and Larkin. They are giving a 110%.

Kane has been good but he killed this team. Everyone was a driver before we signed him. Once we signed kane everyone else took a back seat expecting kane to be mcdavid. They sit around and watch in awe. After watching Debrincat the 2nd half of the year i am sad he is only 25% done with his contract. Wish he was 3/4 done.

Ughhh makes me so annoyed..! We are paying way more for some of these guys than what we are getting back I could yell rn!

Lalonde is hot garbage, his line mixing is horrible. his game management is fucking dog shit. His comments have been lackluster and retain zero accountability for how on earth he lost an 8 point lead. Not only did the wings lose to teams that are bad but the way they played was horrific. The whole we were not supposed to be in the playoffs is a stupid excuse. That winning streak before the fall was the best I had seen the wings play in years. What was masked by a ton of goal scoring is the fact that Lyon was making a ton of great saves but he was still letting in bad goals. The wings had to score 4 or more goals to win most of those games. It has been frustrating to watch this team bungle and turn the puck over like they are playing hot potato. In truth If they make the playoff they would get bounced in the first round, because they have to many holes and the goal tending isn't playoff caliber. Sorry I could point out even more bad shit but you get the picture. I'm praying for a better off season and I hope we can keep Kaner he has been fun to watch.

Lalonde may have been alright as a assistant coach with the lightning but as a head coach he seems to just lack motivation and coaching skills

You forgot to bring up Rasmussen which yzerman just gave him a contact extension in the middle of the season a decent defensive centerman but his offensive production to me lacks to deserve an extension in the middle of a season and he also is out of the lineup very often with injuries
