Gerber Strongarm Fixed - Fine Edge - Review
Straight forward consolidated review of the Gerber Strongarm Fixed - Fine Edge Knife.
The Gerber Strongarm is an impressive bushcraft and survival knife. With a 420HC steel fixed blade and a diamond-texture rubberised handle, the Strongarm is a knife you can rely on. The knife shows its versatility through a striking pommel at the base of the handle for essential campsite work and emergency situations. No need to worry about the wear and tear of general outdoors use damaging the StrongArm, a ceramic coating prevents corrosion on the blade for a long life and continued use.
The modular sheath is as important as the knife itself. With the sheath’s snap-together components, the operator can mount the knife vertically on MOLLE, horizontally on a standard 1.75” belt or in a traditional drop-leg belt mount fashion.

Hey there Boss, quick question ... how do you feel about the sheath? The reason I ask ... my father has ordered himself a new truck ... a *really sweet*, extremely expensive & allocated truck (I think he's starting to feel a little YOLO in his age etc. lol) - and it's going to be a few months, and as much as I would like to just pay the $100K for him , I can't ... what I can do is, I'm packing him a custom backpack-based "survival go-bag" ... stocked with all kinds of goodies ... for the back of his truck, just in case. I'm heavily leaning to putting this axe in, I am just curious the sheath ... because it's unlikely he'll ever actually use it, if he does, it would be one time or two , in an actual emergency. So most of the time, it will be riding in a backpack, in the back of his truck. Want to make sure the sheath covers the blade properly. (Whereas the smaller, hand-held Gerber pack Hatchet has a fully-covering, ballistic-cloth-type of sheath. But I like this one better as an axe, overall...) - OK THANKS!

Thanks for the review. I have an old school boss who uses a 9 inch angle grinder for everything, showering everyone in sparks and immersing us all in smoke and carbide mist. A reciprocating saw will solve all of these problems and not require gorilla strength to get into tight spots. I bet my boss doesn't like it.

I bought one 3 years ago extremely disappointed in my purchase ! I had it repaired 3 times before they finally replaced it with a new one. The new one had worked for 20 min and it stopped working when I held it at a certain angle. I took it to the shop where I purchased it to get it repaired AGAIN. Sorry out of guarantee now! This is a pice of crap !

I know what you mean about old timer saws lol , in my younger years I used a danarm 110 , it was like logging with a tractor engine 😂😂 . Great review, I'm toying on buying a 120 or 130 but watching your video I'm sold on the 130 now , for an extra £45 I think it's the better saw . Many thanks , take care.

The Strongarm is made in the same plant as the military oriented LMF2. It is basically the baby brother of the LMF2 without the electrical disconnect trick for hotwire fences. Same steel, same heat treat, same production quality.

There are a lot of clones and fakes, but dome of those are good, and that is the problem, they do the same as the original... i think gerber chinese factory "allies" are makindem, in fact JKR Joker, Spain, is importing the clone, same with Brasil HZ.

Safety is easy over the top sometimes that it makes tools almost unusable. I use stihl and echo hedgers at work for the last 10 years and once you start them, you pull the trigger it goes. Because of this, you can move your haha anywhere around the handle as you trim. I'm guessing with this one, when you move your hand to another position on the from handle, it will stop?

Hello, thanks for this review . I went on the net , and some people say its brushless , but like yourself , I'm sure it's not. That said, I find the motor is excellent and much better than my brushless Bosch, lots of features but much too slow. Ps, we in the UK 🇬🇧 use inches too 😊, and metric only if we have too 😉

  • @primozsuhadolnik5468

Ok, so i have to add a few remarks. First i have the same chainsaw, so Husqvarna 130. I bought it 3 years ago. Mine had included spike dogs or bumper spikes. So that metal spikes on the body near the bar. Those flip and close caps for oil and fuel tanks that Stihl has are really prone to leaking, also its fairly easy to destroy that one thread,so not for me. And dont get me wrong, a also like both Stihl and Husqvarna. Those polymer quick open/close tabs (for top cover) are usually on pro grade Husqvarnas only. Also i believe that Husqvarna also has those 2 bolts and nuts for side cover and bar imbedded in plastic. Again metal alloy body is usually only found on PRO class chanisaw. By PRO class i mean higher end of the line-up for both Stihl and Husqvarna. So no homeowner saws. Other than that its really a good saw. I use mainly for limbing. Its light, agile, very good anti-vibration system by springs, good fuel economy, easy to start cold or hot and easy maintanace. I use it a lot (almost daily) and have no problems. I too use cheaper bar oil, but for fuel mix i only use Husqvarnas oil. Yes it a bit pricier, but lets face it you dont use 1 whole bottle very fast (1Liter). It lasts for quite some time. And really its much better for the engine, especially for piston and cylinder. Nice review anyway.
