Why We’ve Decided to Homeschool | First Responder Family Homeschool | New Homeschooling Mother
With homeschooling becoming more and more popular, and more and more people are seeing how broken the education system is taking a toll on the next generation, people are starting to see that taking their kids education into their own hands is the answer.
When me and my husband met and started dating I brought up the hard conversation during the first few dates (I'm a very confrontational person that wants people to think about why and what they believe and choose to do). Education was one of those questions. And at the time my husband was all for not putting our children in the public education system because he did not want our children to have the same experience as him. My hubby does not have anything positive to say about his experience in the public school system.
When I brought up homeschooling and as he got to know my family and seeing how many of my siblings were also homeschooling their children, he saw that there was so much beauty to home education for the next generation.
Since having our own children and growing as parents we have learned and continue to learn a lot about ourselves and our children. We spend time wanting to cultivate the atmosphere of our home that has Christ as the foundation, God sovereign over all, and that we cultivate a love of learning, passion, self-discipline, and a life that is one we can look back on and thank God for all of it.

As a second generation homeschooler, I'm excited to be on my own homeschooling journey with my children. I don't have all the answers and I'm learning from many mothers in my own community and from studying the works of Charlotte Mason and learning from books and people much wiser than I.
I think one of the key parts of being a homeschool mom is being able to be taught yourself. If you can't be open to growth, correction, advice, and knowledge from people much wiser than you then you are only hindering yourself and your children. So have a teachable spirit, humility, and embrace the journey and the changes that will happen in yourself as well.
I look forward to sharing more of our homeschooling journey with you all!
