    If Calvin is forcing Malone to play his picks and, in the process, depleting second-round picks, I'm not sure why owners are allowing that. After all, Calvin is on an expiring contract, and Malone is the one staying with a diminished roster.

    I'm not loving Calvin Booth doing anything to get a deal across. I didn't realize we gave up reggie and 3 2nds... If Daron isn't going to be in the post a ton I don't see how we're gonna function off picket backing up guards either. As for Daron I like him as AG/Jokic's understudy. I think they both have valuable skills he can learn a lot from and his versatility and more importantly work ethic and attitude seem like good indicators he'll practice well and do his best to hustle and compete. Honestly I hope we keep KCP because CB, Peyton and Daron feel like a solid bench defense to me. And hopefully a bigger body would let Zeke be on the perimiter more Ig. although I'd rather they trade Zeke if that's somehow possible w/o Booth giving away every last pick for a mediocre return...

    My comment is mostly on the extension for Murry...everything is clear that he played great in the season when they won the Championship...but that was miami and la...but those are not 500+ teams...He's good against teams that don't have a defense or that care more about the joker...but that's why this season we had the chance to see how much Murry can do when Minnesota stuck him...not to mention no-joker min...It also helps that the rest of the team sacrifices themselves for Murry...It's sad because it's not for 3x mvp...so thanks to Malon philosophy

    It's like that scene from Moneyball when GM tells his manager "You can't start Pena at 1st base tonight." And the manager says: "I'm not going through this with you! I make out the lineup cards!" And the GM says "You do make out the lineup cards. But, Pena now plays for Detroit!" Same thing with Reggie Jackson. Calvin shipped him out so Jalen Pickett would get minutes. Malone doesn't want to play these young guys because they're trying to win a championship with Jokic and the young guys aren't ready and he doesn't have time to get them ready and still win games now.

    Reggie Jackson played 82 games in the regular season for Nuggets. His per game averages where similar to last season. And with KCP leaving as well I think Nuggets are kinda falling apart. The youngsters available to play like Piquet, Gillespie and Strawther dont have the experience and evidently the skill level and ability to step up for that task. Fans were quick to talk shit about Reggie, but they will see how much he will be missed. Even if Nuggets make some miraculous trade and bring in some veteran or solid role player to fill that hole.

    I feel like they’ll use the extra cap space from KCP and Reggie leaving to sign more role players. When Jokic stood during the 4th quarter vs MIN he clearly was not happy with 1 or 2 fellow starters IMHO. He is nearly 30 yrs old and is coming into his own. I believe he has an opinion (trade players like Murray and MPJ and acquire players like Bogy, Milicic and even maybe Luka) they would pick up the phone. I still stand by the fact that MPJ should be traded if the opportunity arises. I read a lot of articles and no one is interested in MPJ. He is on a max contract and is simply not a player for the play offs, where the pressure is higher than in the regular season. When the title was won, he had a streak of games without hitting a single three-pointer this year against Minnesota, even worse. Next season, if Jamal doesn't improve, the same thing should be done with him. Both the MPJ and Jamal are in downfall and will continue to do so. Their career highlight was winning the ring last year, and while the other players are progressing in all teams, both are either in the same place or even worse, without progress in their game, fitness...

      @@WhatsinaGameNBA I have been following the NBA since the 94/95 season, although it is very difficult to follow in Serbia because of the big time difference. In the last 4 years, I missed maybe 10-15 Denver games. Go see how MPJ played against Minnesota last season in the playoffs. A professional NBA player with a max contract can't give other teams what he can for Denver is complete nonsense. If KCP goes to the Lakers now, will the Lakers be better? If Gordon goes to Houston, will Houston be better? If Jokic goes to Toronto, will Toronto be better? These are examples of players who will make a difference in every team, but MPJ can't, but he has a max contract. And if KCP goes for nothing, next year it will be Gordon's turn. The Kroenke family is the owner of Arsenal from London, which last season spent 350 million euros on player transfers, plus player salaries. They finished in second place and are already buying players for around 80 million euros. The total value of Arsenal's players is €1.16bn, on which they also pay luxury tax. You have 3XMVP in the Denver team and after this year's failure it is obvious that you have to add one all star player if you are really a candidate for the title. We hoped that Jamal would manage to become an all star this year, but it was the complete opposite. If MPJ is not traded this season, his contract is a bigger poison pill than Zeke's contract. Jamal will get the last chance for one more season if he shows the same again, at the end of the next season he will be traded. You can't expect to win a ring if you don't strengthen your team, while the other teams in the west are getting stronger from season to season.

    • @fentanyljones6956
      @fentanyljones6956 Před 7 dny

      MPJ kept us in the Lakers series this year, got us 2 of those wins. It’s not his play that shut him out in the playoffs, it’s the fact they didn’t have to guard the whole team honestly, so they were able to take him out of the game.

    • @JovicaMilutinovic
      @JovicaMilutinovic Před 7 dny

      @@fentanyljones6956 Last season, in the playoffs, he had a series of games without a single three-pointer. This season exactly the same, even worse. Look at the movement in the games with Minnesota, in all seven games he seemed to be lost. A professional who has only one skill, which is the three-point shot, and he couldn't do it in at least one game. We won three games because Braun played his minutes and was great defensively. Two players scored 69 points out of 90, KCP and Gordon had more work to do defensively where they used themselves to the maximum. Look at how he played last year against Wolves, how he moved and was more explosive everywhere on the court, not just the three-point shot. Other teams are getting better and better especially in the west. Denver got the last trade and reinforcement with KCP after that nothing. The same for Jamal, I would let him go for one more season, if he is not at a better level, he will also be traded at the end of the next season. They have been playing together for 5.6 years, maybe the chemistry is gone, you can't expect three players from the starting 5 to end their careers in Denver. Jokic is not a player who will play after 33 maybe 34 years, if they don't get stronger now we will end up like Golden State, a bunch of worn out players and no more championships.

    Yep, ball-handling. But more - playmaking. When Jokic is off the floor - Nuggets look LOST, especially on offense. Jamal, being slow and lacking quickness - and generally being LATE to make decisions - is just not it. Not in the 1st unit and even less on 2nd. Wolves exposed Jamal fully. Put him in jail with a bit of physicality and Murray looked pathetic out there. So, a "creator" - able to organize the offense, drive into the paint, open up space... WITH OR WITHOUT Jokic. Then, the backup center... Jokic simply cannot play all games, and the most minutes and THEN play 45minutes in playoffs. It's stupid, reckless, hypocritical (Nuggets FO is often heard saying "we need to help Jokic rest" - but always do exactly the opposite). Nuggets FO/Booth are so incompetent - it's mind-blowing. Everyone knew last off-season what's coming - KCP contract, AG contract after that, and they didn't even try to solve the problem (bb and jg) at the minimum, let alone look forward a year or two. They DID NOTHING. Less than nothing - loaded the roster with low 2nd round picks that no one wanted for years, and none of them actually made ANY impact and, it seems, progress. Jamal "being eligible" is an item? :))))))) Nuggets would be smart to TRADE his fat ass while trading might be good. Giving him a max again would be the stupidest thing ever. Again - EVERYONE and their cousin figured out Jamal - he's done, his peak is behind us and TRADING him would be a sign that Nuggets FO actually have some intelligence left. Here's how it's gonna go: Either Nuggets FO will, all of a sudden, grow a brain and balls and make significant moves (trade Jamal or/and trade MPJ... make moves for zeke, reggie, last year's drafts... and the kitchen sink) OR Nuggets FO will again do nothing and waste another year (actually 2) of Jokic's prime. And then - rebuild will become the only option.

      @@mydog337 Thanks mydog... I understand the fan mentality - ready to close their eyes to very obvious things - because "our team", "positivity", and whatnot. However, Jokic 1st fans (ipso facto - Nuggets fans) can be much more objective. Inactivity and obtuseness of the FO was astounding. After the deadline - I was just speechless. It was clear at that point that Nuggets threw away the season - and knowing the KCP and AG status - probably another one or two. I could not believe it. Booth, in one interview before the POs, even said something like "PWatson is better than Bruce Brown"... Level of delusion there is beyond comprehension. I almost threw up. How he ended up where he is, is a mystery to me and probably most basketball literate people. Re Jamal - just look at his PER... hes 31st in the league - everyone, and I mean EVERYONE is way ahead of him - Shai, Luka, Brunson, Haliburton, Tatum, Irving, Mitchell, Butler, T.J, Booker, ... even Lamello! Again - I understand the fans - wishful thinking rules there - but Murray overall stats were simply below mediocre in this league. Anywho - Nuggets are at the "precipice" - either make tough decisions followed by a herculean effort (e.g. clean up the FO, get a competent GM, then go into trades aggressively...) OR waste Jokic's prime for another 2 years at the least (by then I hope he'll be long gone).

In the future we know that Kornet was the Celtics only hope, but Joe was too scared to admit it and play him. Heed this warning ye dwellers in the past, and listen to the legend of the ol Dallas Dunkaroos Beneath the stars of Texas' wide expanse, The Dunkaroos rode forth, their spirits high, To challenge Boston’s Celtics in a dance, Of skill and might beneath the moonlit sky. In dusty courts where legends find their place, The cowboys of the court, in boots and spurs, Prepared to meet their foes in rough embrace, As cheers of townsfolk joined the prairie’s purrs. With lassoed dunks and shots like bullets true, They rode the hardwood plains with steady aim. The Celtics, though they fought with valor too, Were tamed like broncos in this wild game. And as the final buzzer marked their reign, The Dunkaroos stood tall on victory’s plain.

    How about Jamal Murray was injured and leave it at that? This finger pointing and blame culture shows that Denver won't be back. Your head coach has a history of clashng with the front office. I'd start there. The Lakers were getting 70 points in the paint because of Jokic.

  • @ProudVet
    @ProudVet Před 28 dny

    Jokic played 34 minutes a game. None of their other starters averaged more than 31 minutes per game. There is a coaching gene where a guy flatly refuses to play young players. BTW: Kyrie Irving missed the same number of games as Jamal. Finger pointing culture in Denver is a bad look.

    MPJ had his best NBA season so far, _and_ he was better than Jamal these playoffs. But it's still unacceptable to disappear for a whole series when you're paid that kind of money. You just can't do it. And that goes for Jamal as well, no more playing himself into shape during the season, he has to step it up big time.

    It's easy to say "just keep KCP" but what if he gets $23m offer like Bruce Brown? They can't just pay him without going deep into the 2nd apron, and that hugely limits their ability to get other players down the road. They still haven't replaced Bruce Brown. Reggie Jackson was unplayable and didn't score in the last 3 games of the MN series. No way that Jalen Pickett who played in 27 games and averaged 1.6 ppg during the regular season and played 11 playoff minutes is going to be ready to be the backup point G in the playoffs next season. Bruce Brown gave Denver 26mpg and 12 points in the playoffs by comparison. No wonder Jamal was so much better last year! The unpleasant conclusion is that the right move is to trade Michael Porter and break up his $35m salary into 3 chunks and get veteran backups at C, PF and PG who will be ready to give significant minutes NEXT season. There is just no way that Strawther, Pickett and Hunter Tyson will be ready next playoffs. Jokic is going to turn 30 next February. They can't just wait for the young guys to develop!

    • @WhatsinaGameNBA
      @WhatsinaGameNBA Před měsícem

      I think the problem is losing KCP is significantly more limiting for roster-building than keeping him, even if it means going into the 2nd apron. We probably lose the taxpayer MLE option, but if we lose KCP for nothing, we can't keep that salary slot. you are correct that the only concern is the 2nd apron though. i wouldn't compare it to Bruce because we were literally *barred* from matching the offers he got. With KCP, we can pay him, it's just a matter of whether we can stomach it. From my reading of the CBA, there are new options to try to get an extension deal done with him before free agency so we don't have to risk another team offering him so much that matching the offer would cripple roster options. So, that would be my ideal outcome -GJ

    It's not about how hard he trains, it's about how smart he trains. Working out with his dad? Is his dad a professional strength and conditioning coach? With some practical and theoretical background? He is constantly getting non-contact soft tissue injuries, which means, most probably, he is poorly physically prepared. Or just trains in a bad way... Regarding his inefficiency, one of the reasons is a lack of games played but also horrible shot selection. I watched all Denver games in the playoffs and a lot during the regular season. Jamal, at moments, has such bad shot selection that it's annoying... For instance, against Minnesota, there were a lot of situations in which he tried to post up Ant... Wait a second, bro, you aren't bigger, you aren't stronger, faster... What the hell! Then he tries bullying but bounces back because Ant is rock solid, and then it ends up with a crazy fadeaway, stupid shot! His attitude is as if that's a mismatch, but it's far from it... Whenever he took good shots, he would score most probably... So the conclusion is to train and play smarter!

    • @WhatsinaGameNBA
      @WhatsinaGameNBA Před měsícem

      The playoff shot selection was certainly not ideal in those moments, but I think that Jamal probably has pretty good shot selection. I think conditioning would help with that anyway because being able to drive more consistently and get higher quality/easier shots -GJ

      @aleksandarbastajic2782 Před měsícem

      @WhatsinaGameNBA Definitely would help! Regarding shot selection, most of the time it is acceptable, but in critical moments, not really... For instance, and I am trying to be objective, those two shots against LAL were bad ones... but they went in! So many situations when those didn't go in... I feel like he can improve that aspect of his game a lot... I still feel bitter because of loss against Minnesota... Denver had them and then...3rd quarter...complete chaos!

      I get feeling that way. There is a lot Malone could have done better this whole season... In my opinion, watching the coaching carousel throughout the NBA the past couple of years, I think Malone is pretty good, and as long as he is willing to keep reflecting on his own areas for improvement and growing from it every year (as he seems to), I'd rather have his continuity... But it is definitely fair to criticize him and ask the question -GJ
