To port or not to port? That is the question. I have a few speakers under my belt, but I don't have testing microphone or software. I rely on graph data, volume suggestions, comments from builders, and formulas to determine box size, crossover frequency, and porting. 2 ways for porting is 1) the efficiency bandwidth product - Divide FS(resonant frequency) by QES. Or 2) Use the total Q of the driver. The value determines port or not. Would this also work for passive radiator consideration?

I'm currently connecting because I want to work ssl sigma, but it doesn't work with the app. I use m2 mac Studio and the operating system is Ventura. Can you tell me the specifications and operating system of mac Studio you are using? And I wonder if you didn't have the same symptoms as me.

This is probably the most well integrated hybrid setup I've seen. Well done! Mine isn't as streamlined. Working with a more classic patch bay into the 32x32 Symphony to interface with my outboard hardware and 5088 console. I am mostly producing and mixing my own work so I don't need as efficiency but I really respect the way you've curated your setup.

I see you're using touch screen monitors. Here's a great workflow tip for you as I use a touch screen too. Dedicate one of those touch screens to the SSL 360 app. Right there you've got direct hands on control of each channel strip. You won't need any of those SSL hardware controllers with the touch screen approach. Give it a try and let me know what you think. SSL 360 link now supports other plugin manufacturers so you can map any vst3 plugin to link

Thanks for bringing this to the attention of the wider world. Have you considered testing it against a real Pultec? I've often demoed expensive hardware through access Analog. For $7-9 I can try out all sorts units that would be very difficult to test otherwise. I'd do it myself, but I don't have a lindtec...it would be extremely interesting to see how it fairs against the real deal, the price is very attractive. Either way, thanks for the great video.

I loved your build. I've been a diy speaker enthusiast for quite a long time. Years ago, I built a couple of subs utilizing the SEAS L26ROY 10" with plate amps and paired them with a couple of Zaph Audio ZA5.5's, both from Madisound. The setup sounded very good, especially the low end. The SEAS back then were about half the cost they are now. Recently I went with another Zaph design, the ZRT 2.5, and revamped the SEAS sub enclosures to match the new speakers. I am extremely happy with their sound, about the best I've heard, the low end is still fantastic. I certainly would've considered this kit if my budget was a little higher, but I'm extremely happy with the ZRT's. Thanks for sharing.

I agree, I am an engineer for many years worked in studios all over North America, finally built my own hybrid studio I have a D&R Merlin Console, which is analog and a digital master section, so I can seamlessly move from DAW to the console. I’m never going back, I enjoy the process of mixing on a console and it always seems to have a depth you can’t get in the box.

I am somewhat familiar with this kit. I’ve seen it before. I think it’s amazing. I think you did an amazing job and I’m glad you enjoy them and they sound wonderful. I appreciate the fact that you wanted to do everything yourself and now that you’ve done everything yourself. And they’re done take them to somebody who’s a professional and have five coats of high gloss piano black lacquer sprayed on them or walnut veneer or whatever you want and make them look really nice. I realize how they look has nothing to do with how they sound but if they don’t look good it does matter. You will be glad you did.

Am I the only one screaming to myself that all of this outboard gear comes with Reason Studios? Reason even has the mastering suite. Please someone, I hope I’m not going crazy here. Great video but it seems like a lot of extra work and money spent.

I’ve been an engineer for 40 years. Analogue summing of stems is pointless. If you want to add distortion (that’s all analogue summing does) you can do it in stereo when mastering. Please don’t fall for this nonsense.

The sound is decelerated when it meets another medium, and the role of the speaker case is to reduce the sound from the back of the double-sided vibration (front and back) of the woofer. Therefore, the reason for not attaching aluminum plates to all sides is to reduce the sound from other media when it is reflected. to be exposed to. It is exposed to an aluminum plate surface and a surface made of a material different from the aluminum plate.

The aluminum plate is only attached to three sides inside the speaker case, not to all sides. If you stick it on all sides, the sound will be muffled. Attach it to the top and both sides. The bottom and back are not attached.

Wish you had a similar sealed cabinet of the same size to show the comparison.
