This channel is an ever-growing compilation of the rescues of 50-70 year-old Carter one-barrel carburetors from the junk heap. Most are in very poor condition when they get to me. I can't save them all. I am able to save most of them.
Love that old Snap On meter. I thought I had the last one. Set a lot of point dwell with it back in the good old days.
Thank you! Old Jeeps need old school equipment.
Nice clean setup, bud!
Thank you!
I’m very ignorant about flatheads, but why does it sound so clacky?
Long rod, low compression.
Brian, with your rebuilt engines and Rick's rebuilt carbs, its a win win,can not go wrong, great combination!
😎👍
Thanks again Rick, your carburetor rebuilds are a great addition to my rebuilt engines.
Thank you for the kind words!
You do any work on Chevy L-6 250 s
Sorry. No.
Nice like the old tune up tools.
This works man I'm happy, This helped me bend and adjust my rod shorter to adjust the right amount of fuel for my V6 Ford ranger 2.8L with a 2150 China Carb 1.14 300 cfm, I got performance and economy, Most importantly a engine that runs harder than before it had to much gas dumping ruined my performance making my engine a complete dog. 50 jets were not enough full throttle so I'm going 52. Tried 55 jets it just fouled out.
Okay!
Thank you Rick!!!

Damn, put it on the lobe in two clicks!

Big bad single barrel....sounds good!
Thank you for the information about the use of this tool.
You're welcome.
Nice Work and looks great!
Looks & runs great Rick!
Bahot acha
Absolutely fabulous brother thankyou
Should have sent it to you first!
If you shorten does that lean it or make it rich?
Neither as you want a specific distance of travel to pump the correct amount of fuel for the proper air/fuel ratio.
Sorry. Bad answer. when properly set (17/64" +/-1/64") the pump delivers the proper amount of fuel to the high-speed circuit. Too much (short rod) or too little (long rod) can screw up the mixture. The mixture is controlled by the Idle Mixture Screw in the throttle. It delivers fuel into the airflow (vacuum) in the column as adjusted by the Idle Stop Screw in the Throttle Lever.
This adjustment is primarily for the Accelerator Pump in the WO.
Nice steady vac...love the old school gauges.
Beautiful carburetor! When I see the vacuum meter, I realize that this instrument was the first scanner tool for the earlier period mechanics!! And until now it is pretty useful… saludos!
Old School. Usually very reliable.
The algorithm will bless this video in years
great job !
looking good !
Thanks again Rick, my F head rebuilds appreciate all the work you put into the carburetors that go on them. Some L heads in the shop now so the carbs will be headed your way shortly. Appreciate all you do. Brian
Thank you very much Rick, my F head engine is almost finished and this carburetor will make it purr like a kitten when I start it up.
Mine was exactly like he said. Full restoration. All things have to working correctly for the carb to work properly. Great video!
Tell me you don't miss this type of wrenching....
Miss it? I live it every day. Old School.
Rich , what the H did you do to your hand, looks like mine sometime. Hope your doing well
Blood thinners. I bruise easily now.
@@scoutoh6 Understand Bob, have the same dam issue, mother always said he had thin skin, funny hun. Wish we could keep from bruising like that.
Nice video but even though you labeled what each instrument was, I couldn’t tell what the specific instrument was doing. The camera man should of zoomed in and stayed maybe 10 seconds longer on the individual instrument.
Thanks for sharing your wisdom! Best regards from Vancouver Canada!
Looks like it’s up to standards. Thanks.
Excellent!
Thanks, Rick! Looking forward to receiving the two carbs and getting them installed.
