you really should explore Dr Buzzard's Original Savannah Band and Kid Creole and the Coconuts, the groups Coati came from.
I first became aware of Level 42 in 1986 when I was in the Air Force stationed at Bitburg Air base in Germany! A couple of higher ranking NCO's in my squadron introduced me to this group, and I've been a fan ever since!

Level 42's Best Album. BY FAR!
I was a teenager in the early 80's and we had a family party. The DJ {who was a friend of my sister} played this. I remember asking him who this was and he gave me his copy! a 7" single. He also gave me a copy of "Don't tell me" by Central Line. That started my journey into British Jazz/funk & Soul and still loving it now.

Went far too mainstream & made some absolute dross after this album. The jazz funk disappeared! Living it Up was the pinnacle for me. After that this type of sound dissipated.

Great album saw them a few times early on in small clubs they were great . Kind of lost it by world machine the jazz influence had gone for me and that was the thing I liked.

Comme le groupe espagnol Barrabas dans les années 70 Level 42 côté funk aura su innover. À travers Turn it on on a droit à de superbes arrangements. C'est impeccable ! L'album vaut largement une écoute !
Une de mes chansons préférées en 1981 avec Frankie Smith Double Dutch Bus. Avec Level 42 une certaine magie opère.
