How to install aftermarket LED tail lights on a 2015-2019 Ford F-150 with the BLIS system

In this vid I show how to install smoked Recon LED taillights on a 2015-2019 Ford truck with the BLIS (blind spot monitoring radar system). For some reason on Recon's website they don't mention these are for the BLISS system anymore, but this is the part number I have, which I purchased on Amazon for around $550 back in July 2019. First time getting it running after buying it as a non-running car. Ran pretty good except for the noticeable oil burn from bad valve seals. Full rebuild and a ton of other mods planned for this car in the near future!

Thank you so much for this tutorial! Someone hit my truck in a parking lot. Only broke the tail light cover, insurance deductible would’ve been $1000. Ordered a new cover and was able to fix it myself! Yippee!
Tks
Thanks. fun watching your helper too!
I almost threw out the BLIS in the broken taillight. Your video saved me from making a costly mistake. Thanks for it.
Pretty good, but form could b much better. And on her tough ones, you can tell how much she was using her shoulders to get the movement of the weights started. If she did full tension bicep curls, she wouldn't get half that many. "BUT" for my last 2 sets, I always do drop sets, and i do the exact same thing she's doin right here. So on my every workout day my last two sets I will do drop sets, 4 drops and thats one set and my very last set I'll doin 5 drops. Im freakin burnt then. BUT ANYWAYS, SHE'S A BEAST FOR HER SIZE, cuz she looks bout 5"4 & 137 lbs. Maybe 144 max. GOD BLESS YOU AND KEEP UP THE HARD WORK
that thing that you say,,will cost you about 1200 dollars,,its your radar sensor,,,stupid ford for putting that in there,,,
Alguien que tenga la izquierda se dañó el led de mi raptor 2017😥
Where did you buy the seat covers?
Watched this today and this was the best tutorial out there! Thanks bro!
Which Levelig Lift Kit is installed?
Which Levelig Lift Kit is installed?
Here's mine before all the extras with just leveling and tires and rims. czcams.com/video/5I3PM4QXQac/video.html
I have a 3" leveling kit cranked but I want to buy the fabtech springs for the 6" rear lift. I already have Apoc Industries adjustable rear control arms but I don't want to deal with brackets for the panhard bar so I also have an adjustable panhard bar but unsure of how short I'd need to make it and by how much for 6". How long or what model shocks do you use? If they are the fabtech I guess you probably wouldn't know the specs. Basically I think I'm just needing the shocks and springs. I already put 12.5" links in the rear and rides better but the reality is I'm preparing for a piece by piece lift and the rear is the cheapest at the moment. I got my other questions answered by other comments like the rear driveshaft length. At least I can change the angle but worried the springs will want to bow out the rear.
I have a ton of parts into it already as well like cognito uca and dual shock hoops with progressive shocks stuffed in. Really besides money the only thing stopping me from the front is the stupid axle drop causing the need for other parts if I don't buy a whole kit.
What 3" leveling kit did you install? I recently purchased an '04 H2 with a 6" Fabtech lift and 40x15.5r20s and they rub horribly. I will need to go to 37s, 38s or lift a few more inches.
Cognito 3". Comes with 3" indexed keys and 100x better upper control arms and I installed 1.5" spacer mounts for the rear coils
Here's a vid with the 40s, plenty of room. czcams.com/video/Dn7MTWtqdQs/video.html
Whats your front fender measurement, either ground to fender or center wheel?
I have no idea, I sold it a year ago, but as you can see here from this video from my other other page it cleared 40x15.50s well: czcams.com/video/Dn7MTWtqdQs/video.html

man, i love you! I was about to purchase a new taillight after someone broke it for some random reason. Looks like I just need to buy some after market one with the BLIS support. Thank you for the video!
Wow
Thanks! Looks like you visited this vid 6 yrs ago too..well you should see her now!
@@madmanmcclain I have it saved on my saved videos listed Crazy Strong 💪😎👍🏻does she post any videos ? She almost did as many as I can nowadays… not quite as strong as I was 6 years or so ago ! ☮️💪😎👍🏻
question. how do you access the individual bulbs once you have the fixtures out?
Which bulbs? The ones on the old lenses or the new?
Finally found a aftermarket tail that supports the blis system! Thanks for sharing!
I saw the other video with the 40's----great job altogether. Forgive the dumb question, but I just don't know much about lifts and I am planning on basically doing some of the same things to my 2006 H2. It already has a 4 inch Rancho Lift---which is basically a 6-inch lift, compared to the norm, from what I've read----and 38 inch Mickey's on 20 in. Fuels, but quite frankly the lift is just not enough for me. Also, I plan to add 40 x15.50's, so clearly I need to go higher. My question is this: IS IT POSSIBLE TO LIFT MY ALREADY-INSTALLED RANCHO EVEN HIGHER, PREFERABLY 8+ INCHES, OR DO I HAVE TO TOSS IT ALL OUT AND START WITH A FABTECH OR OTHER? ---Again, sory for the dumb question----but I am learning, slowly but surely!---Thanks for any help---Lou
Beautiful truck! If you don't mind asking what's your suspension and wheel/tire set up! It's exactly what I'm going for.
Thanks! Its 3.5 ready lift with 35x12.50r20 on 20x10s. Honestly it wasn't enough lift for the tire and rim combo so I had to cut more out from hidden areas under the fenders and behind the bumpers than I liked.. to stop the rubbing...and it still rubs somewhat
Nice job. Did you have to extend the drive shaft with your Fabtech lift and the 3’ inch lift spring spacer in the rear?
Thanks, no I didn't. The fabtech lift came with an extended new design CV shaft for the front (to eliminate vibration since its so short) and the rear was to be left alone since its so long basically and has plenty of droop length. The U-joint angle at the rearend wasn't optimal thats for sure because the lift only comes with rear coils and so without longer/adjustable upper control arms there's no way rotate the pinion angle up to where it should be. And the rear spacers are 1.5" to level it with the fronts 3" since a stock H2 comes with a rear rake. Nevertheless, the vibration from the rearend wasn't noticeable
You should black out your Ford tailgate logo. You can find the matte black ones or satin.
Well I used an exterior tint called 3M laminex for both Ford logos on the front and back a couple years ago
Dude that was my oldest daughter who is 16 now always helping dad out and getting involved! They grow way too fast bro.
No doubt!
Nice work
Looks awesome! I tried to squeeze 40’s under mine with just a 2” body lift... yeah... so, fabtech 6” lift on the way. 😄
Hey thanks, sometime after this video I sold the 38s and bought a new set of 40x15s to fill the massive fenderwell gap. Here's a video of it from my other YT page czcams.com/video/Dn7MTWtqdQs/video.html
@@madmanmcclain nice. I will have to put up a walk around of my H2 once the lift kit is on. They are back ordered. 😒
How did you fit the factory harness into the aftermarket one? Mine goes in about halfway before it quits.
The harness just laid right in there it wasn't an issue with mine
Good video! I will have to do this upgrade!
Great video. Literally the best video on CZcams on how to install these BLIS lights by the average Joe. Cool that you got your 11-year-old helper involved. I will be doing the same! : )
Thanks bro glad the vid helped out!
Without lift it was better
Did you have any need to go to dealer to recalibrate or just plug and play?
They're just simple plug and play
I needed to replace my brake lines..where did u cut out to see ??
I pulled out the driver's seat,, rolled the carpet back and made a rectangular cut out inspection hole on top of the abs pump and removed the lines from there
@@madmanmcclain great job on the truck. I have a 2006 SUT. Wondering what undercoating did u used? The winter in Philly is eating up the truck with rust
@@sarithmeas6036 after spending a lot of time grinding and wire brushing the frame, then treating it with Rust-Oleum rust dissolver, which is a gel-like acid that you basically apply to dissolve rust and treat the remaining steel. I then sprayed it with Rust-Oleum rust reformer and a few coats of Rust-Oleum flat black
Nice work on the video. I appreciate the informaton. Maybe do an update on the reverse lights? Do you have a link where to find them?
Thanks, and yes I need to do that, but the reverse lights are basically bright white LED lights like you'd see on a newer truck. part number is 264268LEDBK
Can you send me a link of we’re to find them. I can’t find them on the recon website
part number is 264268LEDBK
Hey man if you still have your stock led taillights and want to sell them, I'll take them!!
Hey, yes I have the passenger side. The driver's side is broken though as shown in the vid
@@madmanmcclain Ok, that's fine can find a driver side light somewhere else. What is your email to talk about payment?
Its: madmanmcclain@gmail.com
You sill have the right tail light?
Yes I do
Do you still have the right side original tailgate? I’ll buy it if so. Thanks
would you sell it
Damn good job man👊 How many hours do u have in the lift kit install? I've been thinking about doin one on my '03.
Thanks man. It took about 2 weeks working on it 4 or so hours a night and more on the weekend. It would have been a lot faster if I had a lift and could stand under it and work on it especially with a friend, but working on such a big truck at the house with jack stands under it forces you to spend more time and even somewhat take your time to err on the side of caution lol
What size rims and tires
20x12 rims and 38x13.50r20 tires
@@madmanmcclain It's crazy that those 40's fit before you even did the lift. Nice work!
@@notsojoerogan no the 40s definitely wouldn't fit before a lift. In fact, the 40s won't even fit with the typical 6in lift so I had to add a 3in leveling lift on top of the 6" suspension lift to clear those
The video of the H2 at the end of the completed project and lift actually has 38x13.50s. Which I bought before I even did the lift (but didn't install) thinking that size would suffice with 9" total lift, but they look too small with that amount of ift so at that point I bought 40x15.50s
They look nice. Are they leak water?
No, they're G2G!
can you upload an update on how these lights are holding up?
Theyre still going strong after installing them going on 16 months ago
Did you install the RECON smoked lens (264468BK) or the RECON red smoked lens (264468RBK)? I'm am looking at doing the same thing to my 2018 F150 Lead Foot.
He did the 264268LEDBK the sticker is visible at 6:11.
I purchased the 264268LEDBK from Stage 3 and they do not fit my 2018 Lariat FX4, just FYI to anybody looking to purchase this. The BLIS portion holes do not match the drill holes on the lights. I kept mine and just put some sealer around it lol
@@lauraleeolds so you were able to make the Recons work using sealer OR did you just fix your old lights with sealer?
I'm having trouble finding some for my 18 Lariat w/ BLIS. Any luck?
I would like to buy the same ones you did. The photo on stage3 looks totally different. Can you verify these are the same ones you purchased? www.stage3motorsports.com/264268ledbk-15-17-f150-raptor-recon-smoked-taillights-blis.html
Forgot to show reverse lights! But looks good i prefer to smoke the stock lights though if i dont need to replace them.
Oops I sure did, sorry about that. They're super bright white LEDs, much better than stock is all I can say
And I would've sprayed smoked them, even though it dims the lighting considerably, if I didn't have a broken tail light to replace. The cost of one new Ford housing was more than 2 new recons
Nice truck👍 what wheels do you have?
Thanks, they're IWS 20x10s
Ahh yes the sound of a stock 90's era Ford power steering pump whine
This is exactly what NOT to do!! Swing much?????????
When does it do a burn out??
Nice car, great color!
its impressive but a lot of swing. I could do 1.8-2x my max with a swing like that
You need straps for 405??
