My sister are from Va. In 1965 we went to the Worlds Fair. The cousin thatvwe visted was a Praticing Doctor had a pratice in Harlem and did Anestiology in 6 Hospitals . She sent us to the Fair by Subway each day hut we would return to Times Square each night watch the sights for a while ,call her answering service and she would pick us up. One of the most interstingnthing for us was seeing so many interacial couples. Every other block and many at the Fair The lovings had just fought and won their case in court . We had never seen mixed in Va. 😊

I don’t have the mindset to understand this time and bent culture of our country. To me it’s just cruel to punish someone for loving another human being. You would think that Love would rise above hate but our country was founded on white supremacy and so the minute that people saw this they knew that people would start to mix and people were just so damn hateful back then and still are. There were many mixed marriage in the 19th century and early 20th century and even pearl Bailey married a white Guy and people were outraged by it when you love someone it doesn't matter the colour of their skin

Gosh seeing Peggy cry truly touches every bone in my body. What beautiful and strong parents she had. What they endured my gosh. Peggy u are a beautiful reflection of them and sorry I lost them and ur brothers, but ur in my heart if u ever read this.

The fact that their last name is loving is a testament that things happen for a reason and that reason in this instance was to open people's eyes of the love they had for each other even tho they were black and white in a time of real deep hate for black people! You just can't make these things up! This really happened! And I'm glad she wrote that letter because had she hadn't we would have never known about the Lovings!
