I am black and I listened to heavy metal. I remember when my father hated me listening to Cannibal Corpse and wanted me to deleted the album off my phone, but I still listen to it. During that time, it was good and bad times for me. When it was the bad times, metal made me feel good and it got the energy out of me.

Here in my country I can see that most metalheads have conservative stances (and even worryingly fascist in some cases), mainly because one of the biggest names of the genre over the years had been taking a more conservative stance... And that's why, being myself a metalhead, never felt to "fit in", even with people that share similar musical tastes. I don't know if it's just me, but for me it's quite absurd to call yourself a metalhead and being conservative.

Multiracial guy here with West African bloodlines mixed in, and raised that Chuck Berry was the godfather of rock. Metal is just the next evolution.

The new Lindemann album without Tägtgren is out.. and it definitely does not sound as good as the two first ones.

Often these high IQ artists are difficult to work with, you hear this about all sorts of greats in music and other industries as well.

Many white metal musicians are racist to black metal heads in my experience. Been to way too many metal shows across the country where the black metal heads were being bullied by whites. Doesn’t happen all the time but it shouldn’t happen at all. Even been in a couple of bands where at least one member refused to let a black guy audition. Didn’t happen in every band but enough bands showed their true colors.

It's sad to hear this. I've known Peter Tägtgren before I was introduced to Lindemann. Among all the death metal bands I knew at the time, Tägtgren's music and also style sounded to me, better than them, by far.

Honestly, no direct answer was given to why he left, it's still up for interpretation from this. Basically there were too much of those "it wasn't good when it wasn't good" type of situations, no specifics.

The biggest problem in my opinion is that a lot of Black people don’t know their history. They don’t know our relationship to rock and roll, which hard rock and metal are branches off of that tree. Also, by the time Jimi Hendrix came along around ‘67, a black person making rock music was an anomaly. That was only a little over a decade removed from Chuck Berry! So to a lot of us rock and its offshoots are considered white folks music. I don’t feel like that, I know what’s up. But to a lot of Black people we’re not supposed to listen to or play rock/metal.
