1983 BMW R65LS: Overview and Hillclimb, from the Rosehaven Pub to Ferntree on kunanyi/Mt Wellington
Introducing my 1983 BMW R65LS. I have owned this old Beemer for the past seven years. It's a steady reliable bike, and a bit of fun, while keeping with its age-old Bavarian layout and technology.

I had a '79 base model for 35 years. Same size battery as you have. The shorter wheelbase required the smaller battery. Great video! Thanks!
Sweet ride. Siebenrock big bore kit would wake that thing up....
wish I had bought one at that time. Instead I bought one of the first K100, mid 1984.
Hättest auf die K 75 warten sollen.
@@norberthaase1697 later on I bought one of those, too
Ich hatte 3 K75 und nur die LS ist noch bei mir.😊@@claytonleslie
We rode 2 up with panniers and luggage from London to Nice, via Belgium, France, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Monte Carlo, and back again on one of these. I remember going over the Alps it wouldn't run right because the air was too thin, but coming down, we did six miles with the engine turned off. The hair pin bends were so tight, and with no engine breaking and fully loaded, you could feel the frame twisting under you 😂. We made it back in one piece, though. It was my friends bike, a silver 650 LS
Sounds like a great adventure!...but maybe without the load onboard. Well done!
Thanks Shaun, for taking us on a ride on the original Katana. A real classic and brings back fond memories of my first ride on a BMW back in the early 80s on a R65 LS !
i love classics so cool
Great clip 👍
