It pains me that they'll probably never get to open up 1309 this fast because of the GAP trail.
what a cool way to travel !
Yes, it is. Thanks for watching.
this brings back such memories. Back in the 1960's my grandparents had a very old and beautiful Hahn Eclipse Rocket! We were young boys but we'd cut the grass using this fine machine. How I'd love to have one today. Great sentimental value. I really loved that machine.
Not going to watch 21 minutes of a dirty window. Sorry.
It was fog but your comment is understandable. Thanks for trying to watch.

Whitcomb locomotives were built in my hometown. The main factory building is still standing and is owned by a trucking company today.
Neat. Thanks for watching
You mention a 12 volt conversion in this video. Do you use a ballast resistor on these coils when running 12 volts? If so, where do you source the resistors? Thanks.
I do not use a ballast resistor when I use the rebuilt coils as the replacement capacitor is able to use the output of a 12-volt alternator. I do not think the older capacitors within the coils not marked for "12-volts" can withstand the higher voltage. If you want to use a resistor, I have good luck with ballast resistors that are used on older Dodge/Chrysler vehicles.
@@rdg2124 Thank you for your video and help. I'm new to the hobby and I am currently working on an M19. Hope to meet you one day on the rails. (The WK&S is on the other side of the mountain from me.)

In Ost Deutschland bei der Deutschen Reichsbahn gab es so ein Fahrzeug auch. Heist GKR1 (Schienentrabi) mit IFA Trabant Motor. Danke für das tolle video
Very interesting, especially with a Trabant motor in it. I'm guessing it was 2-cycle? Check out my other videos for rail speeders with 2-cycle motors in them. Thanks for watching.

Thanks demonstrating the Turntable. I have only discovered Rail speeder & NARCOA recently. Nice ditch lights and use of tool box. Appreciate your narration and sharing the information.
Glad you enjoyed it.
I recently discovered NARCOA and speeders. I believe I have a new Bucket List Item. I had 2 strokes a couple of years ago and am recovering. I limited mobility and am concerned I might lack the strength and stamina to participate in this kind hobby. I lived in Nashua NH between 1980 until 2001. Currently living about 55 miles SE of Nashville Tennessee

How cool is that! I'm very very envious!
Lots of fun. Check out n a r c o a dot o r g for more information. Thanks for watching.
The good news is that #9 is back in operation. She has been operating for nearly a year now.
Interesting! But video is so jiggly that it’s a bit hard on the eyes. Suggest using a gimbal.
Thanks for watching!
Just curious, do you set off gates and signals when you go through a crossing?
If you mean the rail speeder itself, most of the time we do not. Reliability issues. There are times when we will manually activate the gates/signals with special equipment but that is rare too. Thanks for watching!
Cool when you have someone come out and wave at you 😎
It sure is. We get many people waving and we wave back. Thanks for watching.
I always enjoy your videos, thanks for this one!
Thanks!
@rdg2124 >>> 👍👍
Thanks for sharing this
You're welcome, glad you liked it.
Wow, very interesting video!👍 I just subscribed to your channel!
Thanks!
Great video - please explain "hard shunts" :)
They are cables/wire that are directly connected to the rails to activate the crossing protection seen in this video. Full-size (heavy) trains utilize their non-insulated wheels and weight to perform the same task. Trackcars/motorcars/rail speeders normally have their wheels insulated. Hope that helps.
I always enjoy your speeder videos, even though I am a relative newbie to your channel. I assume that there must be specific dates/times that the tracks are available for you to use?
Yes, there's quite a bit of pre-trip coordination involved, mostly obtaining permission to utilize the tracks and have all the paperwork in order. We try to schedule our trips when no trains are running so as not to interfere with the railroad's primary business. Plus, all the safety rules involved makes for quite a bit of work. Safety First is the #1 rule on the railroad. Thanks for watching.
What is that thing you are riding in
One very odd rail speeder. Owner was odd too.😄 Thanks for watching
Nice day out! Great views. 😊
