I have a question. How does the reel change work? How is the paper cut and how does it know to wrap around the new drum afterwards?

@@RedShiftedDollar at my mill, for “kicking off the reel” they use a double-sided sticky tape that shoots across onto the empty bobbin that simultaneously tears the paper from the kicked off reel and sticks it to the new empty bobbin. Although I’ve seen it several times I still don’t fully think I “get” it as it happens so quickly!

@RedShiftedDollar We use a sandar to shoot sticky tape across the reel loaded in the primary arms when it picks up the sheet the secondary arms kick the reel out then a fresh reel is loaded in the primary arms. If the standard misses we use air lances to blow the sheet onto the top reel.
