Did they seriously depict Brule as an African? He's a Pict, which in Howard's world means basically Celtic. He should look like a Scottish beserker or something similar.
Brule is described as a strongly built man of medium height with a massive chest, lean hips, brown or bronzed skin, and dark hair and eyes. He had strong features that displayed fearlessness and determination.[1]Kull - Exile of Atlantis ("The Shadow Kingdom"), Del Rey (2006). During the Thurian Age the picts of the islands west to the Thurian Atlantian continent proper was the Borni tribe Brule was from had darker tone. He did infact have blue eyes. They eventually evolved into the picts from Bran Mak Morn and Scotland.
Time II Coming out after all these years still feels unreal. Did not expect to live to it. Still nothing tops this though.

I opened it randomly when i first bought it and saw the vaxxer panel which made me think "jesus christ"
They called it the return of EC but, honestly, as a long time fan of EC this was so bad it hurt. These writers need to read some real EC horror so they have an idea of how to do it right. Their sci-fi attempt wasn't much better. My hope is when these minis are done that they bury this crap right next to the used diaper Papercutz put out at Tales from the Crypt years ago. Dark Horse is putting out EC Archives and reprinting all of the EC stuff, I'm happy with those.
I need to get on those archives. That's where it's at.
I brought this book this year after seeing this youtube review "Most underrated outlaw artist? "by Rowley Zero. Was so impressed with the inking. Does look like its mostly brush work. Love the heavy ink stuff!!!
It's definitely a combination of all the inking tools in the tool shed. This book is an inker's 101 must study piece.

Being English myself, I do agree that S&S is primarily an American genre - whereas High or Epic Fantasy belongs more to Tolkien. And yes, I much prefer the harder, leaner edges of S&S. Great review 😁
Thanks for watching, yeah and to me Tolkein, among other things brought in a strong Nordic and Germanic influence of lore, legend and Myth respectively to his work with him being from that part of the world much like Howard drinking in all that surrouned him. And to add his service in War brought another outlook in his storytelling.

They should have done it like Bruce Jones' 'Twisted Tales'. That had great artwork, and the stories weren't afraid to push the envelope.
I agree 💯. I also believe they should go with 3 stories instead of 4 to help expand on tales. I haven't given up faith yet, I'm gonna pick up a couple more before I throw in the towel on this series.

Twisted Tales and Alien Worlds were great 80s updates of the EC style anthology comics.

I think he's a multitalented artist, writer, and entertainer. He's quick with the wit, and his documentaries are well informed, and man, does the guy put in the work. I have mad respect for him.

Excellent point about sword and sorcery being very much an American genre at its core. At least Howard's sword & sorcery anyway.
I always felt Conan as a character was the lone frontiersman and outlaw ready to explore and unearth new mysteries of the uncharted, but at the same time, a tribal warrior thirsty for battle. Undoubtedly pure American. I would add Conan with a bit of Celt he is a cowboy and Indian cooked up in a cauldron.

I have this one! I found it in the local creators section of my LCS. I got a lot of theor stuff, like City of Hate, and Gator Man Kills. Good stuff!
That's cool. It sounds like a very supportive LCS. Those types of LCS are keeping the medium alive because they showcase indie, and when the indie artists and writers grow, so does the legacy of comics.

Hell yeah man! Happy early birthday. This is probably one of my favourite recent comic stories next to last month's SSoC with Leaving the Garden. Werewolf Conan rocking his blade amazing! I have never seen an armed werewolf before and I am here for it!!!

You would get your 5 bucks sir! Richard Pace draws in inks and water colours when needed. I think his style is uniquely suited for this story, the brutality and primal nature of the narrative suits the viceral scratching of the pen work. Also, Richard Pace has a CZcams channel as well, does weekly drawings. Great content my friend!

Nice look at a killer issue. Yeah, they really dropped the ball on the generic cover. But the interior of the issue is terrific. Great comments on fan art options. Titan really doing a great job on this monthly title. Not crazy about issue #2 of Savage Sword ( horrible art) but overall, this is a great age for Conan fans! CROM!
