What microphone model those it use.
@@elgranpiro any Uniden wired mic will work
I am new here, what is that called that shows the frequencies, showing the numbers and where can I get one.
@elgranpiro it's a frequency counter, try ebay 👍
The only reason I can think of for excluding DMR is the licensing fee which would otherwise add to the cost of the radio. Poor philosophical decision making.
Hallo. Mein Icom ic r 8600 hat das selbe Problem bei Antennen Eingang 1. Da habe ich öfters einfach kein Signal.
I can't believe there are frequencies that are illegal to monitor in the uk. We can listen to whatever we want in the states.
I’ll stick to my whistler dmr and my ICOM icr9000
Where abouts in the uk are you mate
@@Down-x4u hi, I'm near the west Midlands 👍
@onthebench3606 just getting into scanning brought icom r8500 but don't seam to be picking up much
nice
Hi there, I'm a complete newbie about radios, but I'm getting into it. I’ve seen an advertisement recently that caught my eye of a Realistic 400 pro-2005. I would like to buy it, but I kind of remember watching a video saying that most of the frequencies nowadays, especially police, fire fighters, etc., are digital. I'm not sure, but I think the 400 pro-2005 is not digital, right? So, it would be fair to say this model of scanner is not that worthy anymore, isn't it? Am I correct? What could I still do with this kind of model? Thanks in advance.
@aldo3ortiz Hi , if you're in the UK then this radio will only receive ham, taxis, and services. No police, nothing will receive that in the UK..
@@onthebench3606 Thank you, I really appreciate the input.
too bad you cant just scan for dmr like analog....at least not on the 436! what a headache!
Wish it wasn’t a $75 unlock. Paid enough for the scanner and then the $30 for the waterfall. Buy all the unlocks and add ons it’s pushing $1k.
@@danielhildebrand6892 it's too expensive!!
@@onthebench3606 agreed. When it was launched you were supposed to get all 3 unlocked at $33 USD a piece. Then it was $50 now $75 as the scanner is getting older and already has a successor in the works. It’s an amazing scanner none the less. I retired my BC780XLT that has been in service nearly 24/7 I bought the first week it launched. I ended up buying an Anytone 878D as I’m a licensed Ham and needed DMR Transmit for some local NETs. So it was easier to pay that over $75 to use the scanner to monitor. That and DMR is kinda fun to operate on lol!!
One more beautiful than the other
Amazing receiver
That Why I have a Sdrplay SRP Duo,
Waiting for the review the aor will win had the icom icr 8500 now have the aor 6000 icom too niosey on hf
TGID is Talk Group ID.
Just found one of these for $5 at a thrift store.
Icom R75 very good receiver if one uses the RF gain to moderate signal, the receiver is extreamly hot, dialing back RF gain makes it super...
Don’t think there is a deadkey on ssb 😂
That second level of APF/N is a miracle worker. 8500 is a keeper for many of us.
Отличный приемник. Поставьте модуль DSP, сможете использовать шумопонижение и режекторный фильтр.
IC-R75 is one of the radios I will never sell. Fully loaded it with filters and the UT-106 DSP. Such a great radio to this day!
I’ve got the JRC 545 got it 2005 and it still works brilliant one of the best radios I’ve had and I started in radios in the 70s thanks for the video the old man in Stoke
Имею в коллекции Icom: R2, R3, R5, RX7, R20, R75, R7100, R8500 и R8600. Каждый из них имеет свои преимущества, но на КВ чаще слушаю R75, отличный прием. 73!
What aor had you got
I've had many top receivers never used fm

Had both the icr 75 and the 8500 kept the 75
@martinryan5069 both are great radios matey 👍
8500 too niosey on hf even with niose reduction speaker
Nice! Have an AOR5000 +3 (not an A) and an IC-R8500. Definitely keeping both even in the age of the SDR!
would have been nice if you didn't wait so long between radios.
couldn't you have compared on a short wave or Lower Side band channel?
Do you like the Alinco DX the Expensive one? 🇬🇧
@mattcurtis3019 yes matey 👍
XHDATA the best Tenks from Brazil
Those who are saying its legal or was legal to listen its nwver been legal to listen to anything othwr than amateur radio cb and genrral broadcast marine shopwatch even airbamd is jot legal to listen it is also illegal to use a scanner but legal to buy one thats how its always been. Ive had scanners since early 90s while i was at school yes i listened to everything but i nevwr repeated apart from to my dad what i heard
Did you ever find out more about it ? Does it cover CB
Yes it covers CB
@@onthebench3606 thanks for getting back, looking to get a scanner and I like look of this one, only down side is,it don’t do digital, but is there much to hear on digital?
@tonyhaz6664 there's a quite a bit on digital
Wikipedia says, "In radio communication, a *transceiver* is an electronic device which is a combination of a radio transmitter and a receiver, hence the name." If all transceivers really can receive radio signals, why did they make Icom IC-R75 then? It can only receive signals. So, for whom is Icom IC-R75 actually? Is it used for serious shortwave lovers? Those are big questions in my mind as a regular person from Indonesia.
The R-75 is a dedicated receiver. A transceiver does a lot of things but some things suffer because of it. Kind of a jack of all trades master of none type of thing. If you want to just listen then a dedicated receiver is the way to go.
3:00 A true analog receiver!? Sorry I am a regular person who does not know much about radios. But, I see Icom IC R-75 does not make use any needles like old regular radio receivers. It uses numbers on its screen, like digital clocks in general. How can you say it is analog?
I'm talking about its RF chain... not its display.....
SMH... yes you certainly don't know much about radios.
The best shortwave receiver on earth?
It's definitely one of the best!👌
I bought the ic 705 for base and scope and you can use it for base or outside anywhere with hf vhf and uhf I'm a swl not an amateur I like the sdr functions are excellent love the s meter
i find my 8600 works better as an sdr.i use mine for fm dx in sdr mode because they have disabled the filters on wbfm
I wonder if this apparatus can receive signals from shortwave radio stations best of all shortwave receivers.
Would Sdr be better 🤔
Yes ! It would be. ..
So many memories watching this, My parents bought me one of these for Xmas as a kid.So much fun was had. How much would they cost these days??
150-250 GBP
Digital is great but disappointing on airband. The bleed-through I get on AM Airband is totally unacceptable for a £600 scanner. Just happens on AM.
And the 75 is capable of 1 hz resolution front panel
I still have my mvt-5000.still working perfectly. Used to have the base station mvt8000 back in the day also. Good scanners.
Always liked the look of them. Used to look at them and the other scanners in my local Tandy. I ended up with the cheaper realistic scanner from a second hand shop back in the day .
I still have my 2006 from when I bought it new in the 90s. It's special because few scanners are triple conversion IF and this is one of them. I also have the Opto electronics 456 computer interface board that I haven't installed yet, hospital 6 one day I will. The 2006 is also the most modded scanners ever made, due to the many ways to access the circuitry inside and Bill from San Diego did a great job publishing his mods in his books. So this is a classic model that was very special back when and very popular. The manufacturer GRE in Japan was well known for making good quality scanning receivers. The UI is indeed odd and if you haven't used it for a while you will forget how to program it. The EL can be replaced but it's a bit of work, unfortunately. It is also quite a fast scanner, so the ham radio or general receiver can't match that speed. (Today we have SDR so that's another era.)
I just bought one , getting it next week .
