Fantastic low-geared power. Helped us win the war, a lot were sent to our allies on the Russian front.. the toughest of the tough!
Wth is it ment to do gas powered pogo stick lol
I have an M 26 and a T 15 at my house right now! In 1/35 scale, of course!
Beautiful
that was it flat out. you would of thought they make em a bit faster.
You will never got done for speeding
The Z is not related to the war, this is footage from 2009, that was even before the Maidan revolution.
drove this in the army in the 70/80s .Would save you joining a gym. Unstoppable cross country.
You do not stand where this gent is doing if vehicle speeds up we have major problems he could get crushed
Engine side panels should be refitted engine runs to hot without them
That’s a novo standing on flat rack. Whilst someone driving on accident waiting to happen
That engine is sounding rough, back in the day a Gardner 180 was a great engine I had one in my Foden made me feel ‘king of the road’.
The Foden in the background is the original prototype of the FH 70 gun limber
All at30mph
Does the one in front have the diesel engine, or is it just a worn Meteorite?
Fantastic! The UK used to build the best truks in the world! I am a Bedford nut. I had a pair of tk cattle trucks but I always wanted a tm!
i love this truck
I'm pretty sure that pavement is already packed.
HMLC A role which we'll never again see in our armed forces, the swimming requirement was removed. Then their role was given to helicopters! ALVIS a fine & proud company
Z?
Send me any amount of money to my bank account and I will return you 4 times the amount back. H7u

“ Quality “
Will look at scammells all day , fantastic vehicle
After selling my Scammell Explorer I FOUND an Antar in South Wales in a poor state but running. I almost bought it but was told they were 'too wide' to be allowed on roads now without a Police escort? I only ever see them being trailered to rallies now. So whats the truth behind this, as they were used on the roads for tank hauling so how can they be 'too wide'??
An Antar is 2.82m wide the Construction and Use regs set the limit at 2.75. You could plate it for STGO but that would mean you'd have to be hauling a qualifying load with it. When they were in service they were exempt from C&U regulation.
I would love to know the army reg of the front one. I bet I worked on it at bulford camp in the early 80s.
Gas turbines only suitable for aircraft, ships and power stations.
Video is much too short!
Nice to see a British WW2 tank and a tank destroyer fantastic
Awesome.. I would love to have onel

Raw engine sound it would pull a mountain over 👍
that wonderful engine sound!
They will just go forever. 👏
Is it possible that you could contact me. It would be interesting to see were it go’s. howardroberts127@aol.com
Would be good to see photo’s all round and inside. Did some one start to work on it and just gave up.
Loaded perfectly, not dragging the sodding flatrack like this dude i saw back in 99 in Kosovo. Flatrack was loaded with razorwire bound for up country. He buggered all hydraulics and bent the loading arm on the multilift....aswell as taking out the rear left wings and spray kit.
Real badass truck. We would appreciate a showing of the gear change arrangement and the 4x4 engagement lever.
-wow-
What Gaydon has is GT11, the show model of the gas turbine prototypes that were built. I was responsible for the chassis design and the installation of the engine. The cab should be gold and it was originally fitted with styled exhaust silencers. It was known to us as the "Golden WOnder". This is the only one which was fitted with the AEC "A" bogie suspension. The engine far exceeded its wight target and we had to look for drastic weight savings elsewhere. GT,12,13, 14 and 15 were all fitted with prototype versions of the Leyland T6 bogie with tapered leaf springs. As far as I can remember, this vehicle was never actually a runner, being used only for publicity purposes. The styled exhaust covers and the unique cab interior were only used on GT11. The later prototypes including the three oil company vehicles had more conventional exhaust stacks and standard cab interiors. Fred Boulton
Thank you for your information, I think this was the lorry I saw in 1968-69 at commercial vehicle show, I was 10 or 11 so my memory could be wrong, but I think there was a green one on show? Castrol?
@@stevetaylor5933 We never actually built a green protoype, but the oil company vehicle built for Burma Castrol was in their colours: green and white. This never went to a commercial vehicle show. Interesting that people consider the running GT11 as noisy. If fitted with the Corning Glass heat exchangers, the engine was actually very quiet. The heat exchangers were what failed the project: they suffered from thermal shock and gradually cracked up. Without them fuel economy was disasterous. Fred
@@fredboulton9371 thanks for your reply, then I wonder where I could have seen it, my father was always going to aldernam collecting parts, he was well known there and at Southall especially by the fleet engineers, I definitely see the castrol lorry somewhere, in fact, would I be right in saying that it was fitted with the plastic cab trim that came with later ergo cabs?
@@stevetaylor5933 The GT11 show vehicle was fitted with a special "plant on" interiorfloor and re-styled instrument panel. The exterior panel plant ons were either GRP or satainless steel, as were the vertical exhaust stack covers. The other two prototypes did not have these features-- where possible, standard ergomatic cab parts were used except for the front panels. The exisitng GT11 vehicle has the AEC "A" sries rear bogie suspension, but all the others were fitted withan early version of the Leyland T6 bogie. Non of the gas turbine cab trimmed parts were used on later Ergomatic models. Fred
@@fredboulton9371 thank you again for your reply, my father always said that the ergomatic was more AEC than Leyland, and he was a Leyland man through and through, getting back to the gas terbine lorrys, how many were actually made? Obviously they were all pre production (if it ever happened) but the concept was used in a early beaver chassis, and many more one offs,, obviously at the same time Leyland pushed the v8 mandator into production, I'm talking 67 68 when both gas turbine and v8 were big leaps, as I said before my father was well known at both Southall and aldernam, and was well aware of the shortcomings of the 500 series engine, in his view both the v8 and 500 engine were a knee jerk to the idea that Leyland would slip behind the products from Europe, in fact those same imports were not that reliable, f86, had crank and headgasget troubles, and so did the lb80 in fact crank problems with the 80 were a serious problem, mostly forgotten or ignored by the drivers that sing so highly of them
sounds like a detroit diesel
A really nice big toy indeed
