I watched another video yesterday that said we'd have a mild winter in the southeastern US.

Arctic blast.....that lasted all of two days. Now back mid 80's for the rest of September.

It’s been much cooler in the Shenandoah Valley of VA. We actually had a frost warning last night for the hollows and mountainous parts of the valley. It went down to 40 on our farm. Early for that. I’m loving it! But we do need rain!

We already had measurable snow a couple weeks ago in the Sierras and Mount Shasta. I'm pretty sure the mountains in Colorado and Oregon got a few inches too.

Since the winter of 2009-10 we here in the Mid-Atlantic region have had a long series of pretty mild winters. We have had a few snow events but a truly harsh snowy winter has just not happened. I've lived here since the early 1970's and winters here can fluctuate and we are overdue for a bad one but when will it hit? Sooner or later it will so I'm expecting it soon... maybe not this year (but maybe) you just don't know... but sooner or later we're going to get slapped and it will be a huge shock to everyone after a long lapse. Then, it seems when this happens we'll have several colder winters in a row, then we fade back into a milder period for some years. These bad winters come in cycles for us. The coldest one I ever remember was the winter of 1976-77. That year it was not only a snow event but consistent bitter cold, the Chesapeake Bay froze solid that year and that never happens! The larger rivers like the James and Potomac also froze solid and in some parts you were able to walk across on the ice.... I've never seen that happen since. Even in southern areas of Virginia the ponds and lakes froze solid enough to support ice skating. The largest snow events I have ever seen here in central Virginia was in the winter of 2009-10, where we had three major snow storms and I measured a winter total of 72" which is unheard of in the Charlottesville, VA area.

We need a drought buster here in North Miss... I'll take the flash floods.

Forecasts are usually underestimated and the conditions are good, im predicting a strong cat 1 or low end cat 2
