Had Bernard not left Suede shortly after this was filmed they would have gone on to become one of the biggest bands in the world, no question. People were breathlessly talking about Anderson/Butler in the same sentence as Lennon/McCartney in 1993 and 94. I think it was Brett Anderson who said "Britpop began as a Mike Leigh film and ended up a Carry On film." Had Suede carried on on the same trajectory of their first two albums perhaps we would have escaped all that Blur Vs. Oasis nonsense too.
