The denial of sales in the other countries, was done by steam stepping up and stopping it. That way people didn't just purchase the game just to refund it. Since they were already giving full refunds.

It’s not like Sony music didn’t go around CZcams claiming everybody’s music as their own, collecting all the revenue, and leaving the burden on all the small creators to challenge the copyright claim. It is annoying how many people suck arrowheads dick over all of this… like arrowhead is 30-40% at fault for supporting this shit… ceo even admitted to knowing and still doing nothing to properly warn people!

I wanted the game, but the price wasn't justified for me, so I was waiting for a sale. When I heard they did this, I immediately decided not to ever buy the game, as a matter of principle, to not support shitty people that do this.

So about that…..

To address your question about the linkage at launch. It wasn't working. Remember when they had all the server issues because of the explosion in popularity? One of those issues was account linking. It was not working network wide. So they decided to temporarily not make it mandatory when you buy it, so that people can continue playing the game rather then having to wait as they had a ton of server issues. If it were a hard requirement they would have had to tell Steam users that the game is delayed and they cant play. The reason the window was there is because it COULD work for some people. Well, we can all imagine how well that would have went over. I'm not saying its a good or bad decision but thats what they did. So it was a requriement, it wasn't mandatory. It was always supposed to be mandatory. Its not like they are now changing the way they are doing things, they just couldn't get it working until now. Thats what people are not understanding. This is factually a bug fix. So, if there were no skip button it would instead be a window saying "I'm sorry but account linking is not working at this time, please check back at a later date for access to Helldivers 2". Yes it would be ideal for Sony not to force it but they are so thats what AH has to work with. In the end, we are all adults, if we agree to do something and then are told "Okay well hold on just wait can you come back a bit later and do it" then we are all capable of understanding that its still going to happen.

So, to comment on that topic as well since the information in the video is as quite right... but doesn't go the whole way of what it entails. It comes from only the worrying aspect about safety as well as the hassle, not the lawful aspects in many many countries which are affected. First of all: Yes, the Steam page ALWAYS showed it. Which I'll come to why it's not legally binding to have that there because of other circumstances. Following that we have the check-box in-game. This check-box hasn't been visible for everyone, it was gone for a good while when you started the game up the first time. Many people didn't have this first-time confirmation checkbox hence. But that's secondary. Now to to hard stuff which is 'make or break' in terms of legality (I'm hence talking about EU law, uppermost level): The Sony Playstation Store itself lists following even today (this is a quote following): "Do I need a PSN account to play PlayStation games on PC? No, you currently do not need a PSN account to enjoy PlayStation Studios games on PC, but you will need a Steam account to redeem your voucher code. Some of our PlayStation Studios titles also offer incentives for linking your Steam and PSN accounts. " Which puts Sony in a VERY precarious legal situation. People who've acquired the game have hence signed a contract at their storefront which states 'No, it is not required'. ALL official channels count as legally enforcing, in law this means that every aspect of the mentioned requirements have to be the lowest possible ones from each official store. Steam and Playstation Store are the 2 official channels. Hence no, legally it means it's not allowed to be enforced by that alone. With that in mind we have 2 possible legal points which have been broken: Either it's so called 'obfuscation', which means presenting hindering details different up-front then they turn out to be, that's not legally allowed in the EU. Or we have a change of contract to enforce giving away personal data (which PSN enforces you to do if you follow their ToS). This is a breach of data privacy in the EU and also not allowed. Next up we have the PSN linking requirement. With a PSN linking requirement the game is solely only allowed to be sold in countries having access to PSN. This wasn't done, hence Sony allowed people to get into a contract when they're not legally allowed to make that contract in the first place, this is a legal breach in many countries as well. Even if it wouldn't be and Sony makes a workaround for them to not need to use PSN then we have the next issue. A company is in many countries not allowed to implement any extra negative functionality (Like the need to reveal personal information) when others don't need it. The only exception is when it's legally enforced through laws in specific countries, them having more negative aspects in that case is allowed... but in the EU it's mandated to have the least intrusive measures picked out of all of them. Hence even if you're then living in a country which has PSN Sony is not allowed to enforce it there. This is the actual state in terms of legality. Now, to the 'keeping it optional' part. Yes, that exactly, like every other Sony game in existence, including Destiny 2 which has the same situation of a live-service game with the need of proper moderation. Arrowhead is required to hire the respective personal instead of putting that over to Sony and waving the users off like that, as Destiny 2 had to do to handle the influx of ban appeals and similar. Enforcing it for the reason of 'safety and security' is a white-lie as yes... that's a very minimal aspect of it. Never expect the actual reason to be that it bolsters the PSN account creation statistic for shareholders though, which is a direct revenue aspect for Sony. It's a pure choice for money and they're willing to let Helldivers 2 go down in flames for it to make it happen. Not to speak that ban appeals through Sony take usually several months to a year to be resolved, hence making it nigh impossible should their automated flagging system trigger for whatever reason wrongly... which has happened more then once in the history of Sony and led to tens of thousands unfairly banned accounts. Namely being banned from one of their manyfold data breaches despite being known that the leaked account info was happening from their side, nonetheless impacting the user through having to go through such a hassle. All in all it's a problem on so many fronts that it's ridiculous.

Lets not forget that this was implmented at the start of the games launch. It only changed because of high server influx and the devs SAID it was coming back. people cant read

I got the game but my PC didn't meet the recommended features. I ordered all the parts I needed and now this is happening. Call me reckless or fool for not seeing this coming but damn this really pisses me off. Luckly i still have time for compensation but what do I do now? I have no intention of creating a PSN account or sharing my Steam data with them.

I don’t agree with this move. But I really enjoy the game. But that’s why I made my account a fan account. None of my vitals are in any of my profile info. I don’t have a PlayStation but I did at the beginning of the 4. So it’s fucked up but I am still playing Helldivers 2.

Will PlayStation users be FORCED to create and link a Steam account the same way Steam users are FORCED fo create and link PlayStation accounts? Or is it a one way street and you only care about their "safety"? Here's a much better idea: do NOT force Steam users to register and link a PS account to their Steam account. Instead keep it optional. Whoever registers and links a PS account will be able to keep playing with PS players. Whoever does not want to be FORCED to create and link a PS account to their Steam account will be able to play as before, but only with other Steam players. Everyone wins!

I'll be real, I don't think much is gonna come from this. Don't get me wrong, I hope sony completely collapses and the top execs go broke to the point they can barely afford to keep the lights on, but most players won't care enough. The thing with public opinion is that for the most part, it's the people that care strongly who say anything and the majority just move on like how you only tend to see really high or low reviews for a business because the majority can't be bothered. Maybe I'm just pessimistic but imo, not much is gonna come from this. Certainly would be a pleasant surprise to see them walk this back but I don't have high hopes for it.

The "Playstation Network account required" message is in a bright yellow box next to the "buy now" button. You saw that and clicked Agree so it's on you for ignoring it at time of purchase and everytime you opened it after.

As someone with a PSN/Sony account, I don't want them linked to my Steam account. Seems like every 6 months Sony is hacked and I have an email folder of " you're eligible to get settlement money from this lawsuit against Sony." Haven't used the account in a decade but I might as well be an employee with how often I get money from them.
