I think a piece is missing here. Alfalfa is low in non-structural carbohydrates but higher in energy, calories and should not be fed to overweight horses. How does that reconcile?

Beet pulp is a discarded product from the milling industry. It's fiber, but it is deficient in minerals. It is also GMO so that glyphosate can be sprayed on it to reduce weeds. Glyphosate remains in the beet pulp that you feed to your horse. 90% of beet pulp is. GMO. This information is on the web. I have used it. I put it in my garden, but never in my horses. Horses are not related to moose, who seek wet things that soak in a pond. In the wild horses eat raw foods, wild foods that include berries, fruits and grains, leaves and seeds.

Been buying your timothy for years. Last 2 years the quality of your Timothy has when't downhill. It's turned into dusty brown straw, that actually gives me splinters. I have to dig out of my hands with needles 😮. Not fit for animal consumption. I got a bale 3 days ago & it's going straight back to tracker supply. It's sad 😔 what happened to your product ???

I just want to say thanks for making such great products. I’m on my second OTTB rescue and standlee is just always a safe option, it’s great quality and horses love it. My first rescue had bad teeth and couldn’t even eat grass, her entire diet was standlee Timothy pellets with cal trace as a supplement, she passed at 24 from colic (after getting casted) but she was a healthy weight and had such a shiny coat. Standlee is the reason for that, she refused all other brands hay pellets, she literally went on strike for two days so if I’m buying hay at a store it’s always standlee!

I have used Standlee products for many years--especially alfalfa and timothy pellets, and beet pulp for my horses. Standlee is THE trusted industry leader based on science and quality control. I do not use any other products for my insulin resistant horses--especially NO commercial feeds with high NSC. My horses are frisky, jump logs and creeks, climb, and enjoy children and adults at age 22. Prices are always fair and fresh products available at local Kansas stores as Tractor Supply Co. or Atwoods Farm Supply. I appreciate the professional educational videos being offered regularly. Keep up the excellence! Ann Page, Ph.D.

Thank you for this but just a friendly bit of feedback for the marketing team…most webinar recording systems give you an MOV or MP4 file that you can edit the videos with something like iMovie or Screenflow and help your guest sound her best…I felt so bad for her that she kept having to clear her throat, which I realize is just a normal thing and can’t be helped for a live webinar, but you could’ve made it sound better for all of us and helped your expert guest not feel self conscious about the final published piece, by simply scrolling through the timeline, watching for the sharp tall spikes in the audio which represent an abrupt loud audio input like that, cut before, cut after, delete the throat clearing, and deleted the dead space between to bring the two sections back together….would’ve taken maybe 10-15 minutes and you’d have a nice clean audio. Just a word of advice since it seems like if you knew this was possible you would’ve definitely done it, so since it wasn’t done means you probably weren’t aware? 😅. So hopefully this is taken with the helpful tone with which it’s intended.

This is different than other information I've researched. I need to do further research because I'm not sure if what this person is advising is correct. I've heard NOT to feed alfalfa in the beginning for example. I've also heard that initially, it's too much shock on an emaciated horse to worm and do dental because of the shock of drugging a a horse to do the dental work is too risky until the worst risk is over.

I used to work for Standlee selling hay at Gulfstream Park Racetrack in south FL. That’s where I learned what the best forage in the world was!! In Florida, at feed stores, the inconsistency of hay products you would buy each week can be detrimental to your horse’s gut. Thank God for Standlee is all I can say!! I may pay a bit more (due to freight costs to south Fl), but my horse’s health is paramount! They’re a grazing animal, and that gut needs to be working all the time! The fact that the quality of my hay is the same 52wks out of the year, is truly a godsend for me! I feed the 2nd cut Timothy (3 string/130-140lb bales), and one bale lasts me 9-10 days at 14-15lbs a day. Yeah, it’s expensive now (thanks to Biden) $46.95 a bale-up from $36.95) as fuel costs skyrocketed.. but I’ll bite the bullet to keep my horse from a chance of colic. Thank you Standlee!!
