Great shooting. I’d like to know what shot shell loads you were using. I’m thinking a pheasant load of #6 maybe? Some of those shots looked pretty long. Might be the lens. Shotkam is certainly on my gift list to give to my wife this Christmas

A peculiar technique, reducing lead? It may work for you, but not a method I would introduce a novice to.

...I enjoy watching Shotkam videos (I come back to this one now and again!) but you have to avoid trying to measure the lead when you actually shoot. In reality, everything happens much faster, and the perceived lead feels different depending on your gun speed, hold point, lead method, follow-through etc. "Just off the front" could appear as 2' to you. Learn your own "sight picture" to good shots and then try to repeat it consistently..

Both of these are YOUNG men. At 74 I cannot (A) shoot a chandelle on the way up because I can't focus on it quick enough, and (B) shoot it on it's line because looping my shotgun on the track of the bird is difficult. I shoot chandelles fairly well by coming across the "arc" of the target in a straight line and pulling the trigger when I feel my barrel is outside the imaginary arc of the bird. I "cut" the line across and UNDER the arc to build in the appropriate amount of lead UNDER the bird. Works for me and others but both of these guys know what works for them!

With no objects in the background to provide a visual display of distance/speed of the target these shotkam videos are of little value. What is the magnification of the footage?

... great, controlled shooting. But remember these are slowed down and that level of consistency it hard to achieve. Look at the clay and keep moving, don't try to replicate the view of a "measured" lead....

I just got my Shotkam Gen4. I would like to say it’s important to not get caught up in looking at your shot pattern when reviewing videos. It’s hard to gage the depth of your shot and can cause you to make false adjustments. Definitely focus more on where you were when the trigger was pulled.

One if the best guide vids I've watched. I recently started shooting trap, but my shotgun is for action shooting. It's a complete different sport with a complete different speed shotgun. The range has a pro that will be working with me on learning to use the correct tool for the game. It's going to be difficult due to being left eye dominance with strong right hand. This will only be for fun, so I wont be going to extremes in relearning, but this is a great explination video, especially with the addition of your cam video. Thank you!!
