Victor Borge Performs Rachmaninoff - Slideshow
zhlédnutí 112KPřed 16 lety
Victor introduces us to Rachmaninoff's second piano concerto. I couldn't find a video for this clip, so instead this is a bit of a dedication to him with photos I found. Unfortunately there aren't too many good quality photos of him... HD version here: www.stage6.com/user/JGERLive/video/2248689/Victor-Borge-Performs-Rachmaninoff Slideshow

Its sad really..... the loss of Victor Borge and others of his ilk - they were acomplished musicians who allowed themselves to joke about music, who appeared to play badly but playing as if you are playing badly, takes great skill and musicianship. We just dont have people like that around right now..... such a shame. VB was a star :) Comedy these days seems to be measured by how many swear words you can get into your act - it was different for these guys, they were fabulous entertainers.

About 25 years ago, Mr Borge' came to a little town in Bloomfield Ct where i live. They would have weekly concerts throughout the summer, and would normally draw a crowd estimated at 40,000. When Victor Borge' came, the overflow-crowd was estimated by local police to be around 70,000. I don't think there is anyone else in this world that could ever compare to all his talents. When he plays seriously, i can get a tear. When he uses his humor, i just can't stop laughing.

Excuse me.......... No, C Minor has 3. If you find the relative major (Eb), and find the number of flats in that, you will find the number in C minor. The order of flats is BEADGCF, and coincidentally, the order of "flat" scales as well. B(flat) with 2 flats, E, with 3 Flats. Use the same accidentals on c, you get the natural minor, Now sharpen the 7th (Bb) and you get harmonic minor, the conventional minor. But the KEY SIGNATURE HAS 3 FLATS. Have you ever done any music theory, by chance?

ciliaspippi Supposedly, one may reasonably assume that a piano virtuoso who occasionally performs repertoires by Liszt, Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninov before both the grand public and the social elites did at least know the key signature of the piece he was about to perform. It was probably just an accident.

That part at 2:30 actually has a pretty wonderful bass sound for those pedal notes, great piano tone and awesome comedy! What an awesome person, I've only just dicovered him but he seems brilliant.

It's a shame he didn't perform full pieces often. I really liked the interpretation of the main melody. Could only imagine what he would have done with the real music.

The first man I hear making really funny things with classical music. And his touch on the piano is really fine. Hilarious, many thanks for sharing this.
