Trevor Rabin ruined the climax with his ridiculous lead

Band sounded awesome. His over the top performance killed it. As a singer, if you become self indulgent like that, it ruins the piece regardless the genre. No semblance of the melody (which makes that song so beautiful) remained. Improv is great but, this became like a bad karaoke performance.

These guys are not pretentious in any way. They are just true cool, true musicians.

Saw them 2wice on that tour! 1st leg Sacramento then the last leg nearly a year later in Reno where I waited for them after the concert and got their autographs Greg and Carl stepped onto a tour bus whilst Keith jumped into a silver Jaguar and drove down south Virginia away from the pioneer theater ❤ love them tons and forever

I grew up in Farrell pa , about 5 miles from Hubbard Ohio. They had teen dance at the buhl park and one time glass harp played .I was 16 and the place filled up with grown ups. Many of the kids did not like him they wanted top 40 songs. I was memorized by Phil and went to the record mart the next day and bought a glass harp album.

Carl Palmer has a much more solid groove here, possibly due to his Asia connection, but also I hear more similarities between this ELP era and Touch and Go with Cozy Powell than I do with 70’s ELP.

Such an emotionally wrenching song. Steve already having vocal problems early on just like Meat Loaf . Just shows how important it is to take care of that delicate instrument. Still they both put out the most extraordinarily, heartbreakingly beautiful music. "Heaven Can Wait" kills me too!

I bet Keith was sick of ELP being defined by Lucky Man and From the Beginning. I first saw in early 71 and they didn’t play either and no one cared. Keith’s lower keyboard didn’t seem to work.

i saw this tour at Jesus People church in Minneapolis. snuck backstage to meet Kerry after the show. He seemed pretty annoyed that a 15 year old kid made it past security, but still shook my hand. I doubt most people would say this music holds up today, but to me, timeline, art of the state and reconstructions are priceless
