I just cut my own from a rectangle of kydex that I ordered. I noticed that my stock tapers out toward the butt end, so I made the sides angle very slightly out. I guess it’s not enough to make a difference. This one looks good once it’s installed.

I have had this rest on my M1A for a couple of years and it is, by far, the best removable after market cheek rest on the market.

I use a drill press and scope level on the windage turret or flat side of the receiver to level front to back and left to right. When drilling, the exit hole comes out exactly parallel and plumb to the entry hole.

what gauge kydex is that your using???
how did you drill the holes accurately? Does the kit arrive with a pattern to facilitate drilling the holes in the correct positions?
+Pedro Pons Drilling the holes does not require a pattern, measuring or marking. The TAC PRO kit includes a drill bushing that is used to align the drill bit in the slots after you form the cheek rest. The installation video is here: tacpro.com/product_info.php?cPath=14&products_id=20
you could heatmold it, and then fill the holes with a sharpie pen... then drill into the markings
Will it work on a Savage 110 HS stock that is 1 3\4 inch thick ? Or will the slots in the kydex be to high up on the stock ?

how to make or how to install???
I think both apply here. The original plate isn't a cheek piece because of the shape. He had to 'make' the flat plate into a cheek piece, using heat and moulding it. He then showed how to use the bolts and nuts to 'install' and adjust the cheek piece he had 'made'. He showed us a technique that others could use to make a bespoke cheek piece for their individual rifles....and how to install them.
Can the heat from the Kydex being pressed onto a wood stock do any damage? Burning, cracked finish, lifting the stain, ect?

+Jake DuBois The stock is used for product testing. The holes are from testing the bolt on cheek rests. If you don't see anyone using a drill during a product installation video, it's safe to assume that no drill is required for installation.

how much more complicated is this for monte carlo stocks?
jench78 We don't recommend this product for stocks that have a Monte Carlo cheek rest.
What length were your drill bits? They looked pretty short.
They are stubby bits, about 2.5" inches long. You can use any length bits of the correct diameter.
Will the cheek rest move back and forth during recoil from the rifle???.
No. The straps and thin rubber cushions between the cheek rest saddle and rifle stock prevent any movement.
The cheek rest will not slide if it's formed according to the video and installed correctly. See the installation video for instructions. We now include a drill bushing with each cheek rest kit to make installation much easier.
Seems easy enough, wont the kydex plate slide down after a while?
