Thank you so much
Dude you skipped over a ton of shit at the beginning. Where the hell do I find that setting to set my pen up?
Just type wacom tablet properties in the windows search bar.
thank you for this simple and very helpful explanation!!
could you maybe tell me how to wrap the vertices onto the subdivided model without applying to the model?!
Had you found the answer, because I have the same problem?
The title made me this was some radical anti-Polish content.
This tutorial is goated
Thank you so much, sir!
how do you pull up pin properties?
If you have touch enabled, drag 5 fingers across the surface of the tablet and it will pull up a window where you can access the pen properties. If your tablet doesn't have this gesture, search for wacom tablet properties and it will come up.
How to get the transperacy layer??
1. Make sure your image is on a transparent background and saved as a .png file. 2. In blender, under material properties, set blend mode to alpha blend.
thank you!! you're helping me so much xx
Exactly what I was looking for! Thank you!
Fantastic, thanks!
Hey Akrosh, I bought your gumroad course yesterday. I was wondering, doesn't the autosmooth 30* in the normals settings fix all the shading errors? I've never seen the Blender Bros deal with shading issues on their non-subD models (on flat planes) and I figure it's because they're always turning on autosmooth.
Hi there! At the time of making this tutorial, I was transitioning from Maya to Blender. When concept modeling in Maya, the technique you see in the video was what we employed at the time to minimize shading errors. Since then, Blender's auto smooth function has been the fastest way to sort out all the shading errors (in most cases). It's what I employ now as well when I model with booleans. Note: The auto smooth function is now replaced by smooth by angle in the newer Blender releases.
@@Art-of-Akrosh Oh I see, thanks for letting me know. I guess that feature saves a lot of time and effort then lol. I'm glad to still have learned it. Thank you.
Isn’t it just better to buy one 43”?
Sure, if you're sponsoring 😁
@@Art-of-Akrosh you can get a very decent 40” for $400 USD
not really, cuz if u want do somethin else on second screen, u can't
@@_Rubble_ yes you can . You can do zones
Wrong. Softwares like 3DS max exist just for technical side. It's not always cinema amd entertainment industry. CZcams knowledge isn't reality.
Would you mind elaborating on what you mean by "3DS max exists for technical side"? All these 3D packages are extremely technical in nature. In the main video, I've prefixed that I'm coming at this from the perspective of a digital artist with experience in the M&E sector. Please watch the main video before drawing conclusions.
Thank you very much! I watched a million videos on how to make a normal label for a bottle, all of them were wrong and crooked. Thank God I found your video, you are a genius!
I'm glad you found this video useful.
I always delete a cube and create another one anyways...I like to create stuff from scratch😂😂
I'll write a $250 add-on to automate that so you can start a new scene slightly faster (cha-ching!)
A quad ball takes like 5 seconds to make. Your cylinder is definitely welcome though.
Have you submitted a suggestion to have this added over on, rightclick select? I agree with spheres and cone defaults having too many edges i always need to adjusted them. But these additions and tweaks shouldnt be hard to add as tools especially if they are popular grievances among other artists. One thing i will say is you gotta remember that not everyone uses blender for sculpting and subdiv modelling and find their use elsewhere. Infact most if not all primitives in blender were added before sculpting was a major feature meaning scupting with them wasnt considered. So i think it is now a good time to suggest an update to the primitives system from how we added and tweak then to bring things upto date and more useful for all workflows. A default quad sphere would be definitely be a good option.
I never got why they opted to use poles for the sphere or cylinder. Or for that matter, why the cylinder, sphere and cone are all as dense as they are out of the gate. And you know they aren't going to fix those either. Not when there's a new EEVEE in the pipeline, or the animation and rigging tools getting a massive overhaul.
If you go into blender's prefrences and go into addons and search for ''extra objects'' you can get more primitives, including the pipe and much more. just wanted to say that
The pipe that you can access under 'Mesh Extras' lacks control over the pipe wall thickness and divisions, which is something that other packages offer by default. Even the extra objects require a bit of tweaking before they are ideal.
@@Art-of-AkroshWell I usually just tweak them till they are of my use, but you can have your opinion. Also thank you for liking my comment
@@thecoolestofguysyeah even if blender just added all these items from this asset library I would almost always have to tweak them anyways so it seems efficient to have less options I can tweak than more of the same that I’ll tweak anyways
@@Edmf29that's true
Im just starting to use blender and one of my first model I use a cone to make a hat I didn't know that was ther reason for the weird shading I was getting
If you are trying to learn subD modeling you will have to pay close attention to things like topology. Best of luck with learning Blender!
thank you but little bet stop quiqe jumping since explanation
19 minutes for a basic shape like this is muuch, it is overcomplicated
You're missing the point. I'm merely using this shape to explore and discuss different topology-related concepts like pole-shifting and ctrl loop to subsurf behavior. Perhaps, I should have explicitly stated that from the get-go to avoid any confusion.
In my experience, with a full time job and a partner I manage to draw for about 1-3 hours everyday (most days) and I've been seeing a lot of progress. So don't worry if you don't have too much time, being consistant is more important than going at it for long periods. Also, if even 1 hour seems like a lot to you, go for 20 minutes. Over time, as you get better it will become more fun and you'll increase the amount of time you can draw naturally. Don't push it too much and you'll have a lot of fun!
Thanks for sharing! Practicing for several hours a day is a luxury most people can't afford, especially as we get older and have more responsibilities.
damn that's genius
Thanks! Shrink wrapping is really clever!
Im really new to drawing, never have any experience too before. So Im kinda confused what to learn at the beginning, any tips for that? Thank you
Start with what inspires you. Fanart is a great place to begin. Get into the habit of drawing consistently. Once you feel comfortable, incorporate study sessions where you practice fundamental skills like gesture drawing, perspective, anatomy, etc.
@@Art-of-Akrosh I see, so I start from copying others fanart that inspires me? And is it okay if I copy fanart with the same character but with many different artstyle?
What you choose to copy is up to you. The goal is to improve your hand eye coordination through observational drawing. Try not to concern yourself with art style right of the bat. It will only lead to frustration.
@@Art-of-Akrosh Got it, thank you so much for the tips. May you always have a wonderful day

what about edit mode
Just separate the elements you want to align into a new object and follow the steps outlined in the video. Hotkey to align while moving is 'ctrl'.
Thanks man you're amazing best video
I usually spend at least 50 mins a day practicing drawing 20 mins take a break another 20 mins take another break 10 mins done
Great routine! Consistency is key, once you've got that down, you're sure to see improvement.
so.. are they all bevels?
Yes, it's the umbrella term.

Thank you so much! it was super useful!
mechies use solidworks , civil use cad , i think rhino is good for measurement but the problem with it is the interface and scripting learning
This is a REALLY succinct, and understandable definition. Hopes this video reaches anyone wondering/confused by the heaps of software-suits and formats. Also RHINO is really the gem in between Imo, both good for cad and polymodeling. As an architect or game designer wanting real control of measurements its really a fantastic software.
Thanks! Appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment. Personally, I've only used moi3d and f360. But, I do know some friends that use rhino and swear by it!
No problem, I'll happily promote a good video as yours! And yes, I'd probably fit nicely into that rhino-friendgroup. It's insane that you can draw 2d cad better then auto cad, do complex 3d cad on a much more "limitless" scale then say fusion, and also poly model (translate to poly, And a lifetime commercial license is 200bucks if bough while being a student. Hey look, it's handsome squidward!
Very informative and helpful. Thank you very much.
(me who would just un-subdivide as far as I can, than use decimate in cleanup crossing fingers shape keys still work) I really do wish there were better free automatic tools. Been playing around with one called 'instant meshes' but it tends to lose detail with anything involving cylinders. (like switches, knobs, etc.)
I feel this to my core
Which addon 3:28 do you use for retopology?
I did not use an add-on for the manual retopology. Will demonstrate the way I go about it in a future video.
