Resawn wood cupping
zhlédnutí 2,9KPřed 3 lety
It is common for resawn lumber to cup after sawing. With wide boards this can be extreme enough that maybe you won't have enough thickness to plane it flat. In this video I show how I preserve wood by planing (jointing) at the optimal angle to ensure enough wood thickness remains after jointing to thickness to my project dimension. Wood is jointed and thicknessed on a Felder Hammer A3. www.buil...

Big question. The part of the circuit board that contacts the battery has four prongs that are soldered. On my mine, the solder is worn thin and it doesn't seem to get power from the battery. Can that be the case? Could send a pic but not sure how to do so.

great idea lets put the cupping side onto the machine bed for an extra shaky procedure. Wait! How could we make it even unsafer? Yeah I know dismount all safety mechanisms and apply pressure RIGHT ON TOP OF THE FREAKING CUTTER HEAD! Are you serious? I mean you just literally broke pretty much every rule there is to operating this machine and for what? to save some wood! No, this is NOT a "great method", unless you're looking for a method to get rid of your fingers! BTW: The right way to approach to this problem is to cut the board into smaller strips and joint/ plane those normally!

Great video, thank you. My old barn converted to workshop measures 5.6x8.2m so I have plenty of room for the K3. Currently I am a semi-professional and have many Festool tools but only a Bosch table and Miter saw which I rarely use in my workshop because of dust. I'm looking at the Festool TKS80 and Kapex KS120 but the price for the two is about the same as the Felder K3. Obviously all tools are pricy but I do love a nice tool. Are you happy with the K3 and can it largely replace a miter saw? (I'd still keep the contractor miter and table saws)

Thanks so much for this video. I have two Hammer machines - the A331 planer thicknesser and the N4400 bandsaw and I went through the same process as you trying to determine if they would fit in my garage. The available plans were a bit limited on detail. The bandsaw in particular, was an issue (height) and fortunately a call to Felder ensured it was delivered on a pallet horizontally which saved the day. I’m currently deciding if I can fit a K3 in the garage and your video was perfect - thanks again. Martin

LUV the idea, I need to make a few of them, or something close to them. Have to think however the two legs to make it standup on its own are not needed. Any 8' long product will touch the ground with very little angle. I can imagine those legs catching the ground often as you're trying to roll along and every time you're not level they drag. At the least, they could stand to be a bit shorter and only on one side. Otherwise, very nice work.
