Groudle Glen will live in my heart as long as it continues to beat. But, my question, and this may be a false memory. Around 1968/9, someone told me about a place on the island that had been painted by a 'famous artist', it was called, if memory serves, The Seven Fields of Green' and I have the faintest of memories that I actually stood where the scene was painted. I've tried to 'google it' but to no avail, can anyone enlighten me?
Fantastic
Good to hear from Kathleen. It still doesn't explain some of the most outrageous accounts from investigators as well.
An amazing programme thank you. You learn something new everyday xx
That looks like it would be fun to dance :)
I was born in the ISLE OF MAN at Ramsey and I just love all these stories of Manx Culture and Manx history. Regards, David M Kemp. Once a Manxman always a Manxman.
Thank you the video. Is there any information about how it got named "Rock of the Cows"?
Sadly not. We would assume that there was once a rocky outcrop around there by which someone kept their cows, so people referred to it as 'Creg ny Baa' as a description, which soon became a name, and this transferred over to the pub that was built near it... But the actual story is lost in time - all we have, like so many places around the Island, is just the name. :)

The British did the same in Canada during the first world war they were putting Ukrainians in interment camps some 19000 males and during their stay they were exploited as free labour. Things changed when a Ukrainian Canadian won the VC for Hill 70 in France in 1917 . During the second world war over 35000 Canadian Ukrainians served and took part in D Day they had a lot of casualties.
I bet it was found in Ramsey 😁
Happy Hop-tu-Naa!
Hi Dr. Weale. Are there any plans for DNA testing on these remains?
👍👍

I love and I would love to live in the ages past but. There was a lot of things that would have been very hurtful body-wise that we know about today that we can fix
I always liked archeology I've done some digs with our local History society.. when I worked at our museum here in town.. I kind of studied egyptology on my own and I enjoy the dark ages
Imagine the toothache!!!🦷😬
i ll visit your island in 2 weeks, and i like very much this film.thank's a lot.
Nice song
Oh a neat _Railway Series_ book fictionalizing this exact railway to the Island of Sodor world would definitely be astounding to make as a rendition part of the franchise, and would absolutely promote the Manx and Snaefell Railways quite a bit.
Muito bom 😊
Vim aqui devido a uma resportagem aqui no Brasil
Gerald Gardner(1884-1964)🇬🇧
What a delight itvwas to listen to this. Does anyone Happytimes we all were blessed but didnt know it then. Does anyone know the gentlemans name?
Very interesting video but I am in doubt about the final production date. When I lived in Rotherham, Yorkshire, I purchased a body from Peel Engineering in 1969. I guess it must have been the last one produced. I assembled my vehicle during 1970 and it was placed 3rd in the Car & Car Conversions Concours d'Elegance in Blackpool, in Sep, 1970. I sold the vehicle in 1976 before I emigrated to Canada. I should have brought it with me! From what I understand, it is now back in the Isle of Man but is in need of some serious TLC.
The style of holiday may have changed but the IoM still has much to offer the visitor, particularly if you are into steam railways, trams and unspoilt countryside and coastline. Man has a Celtic culture and language all its own. My first visit 15 years ago was a package deal that included breakfast and an evening meal in a Douglas hotel off the Promenade. We had to be back at 6pm for a cooked meal every night, it was very old fashioned!
What a shame that this video details the kipper production before the site closed permanently 😢 Such a loss to the islands food heritage
Fantastic presentation and extremely educational. Alex did an excellent job once again in presenting this after once, I am told, they found a wide angled lens to fit him in the shots.
Any new music coming out soon? It's been a while.
Un posto magico, meraviglioso, affascinante.
Spending some time with the owner's great mind would be a great pleasure. But he would have shown, demonstrated, or told us very little. In my humble mind, I feel this man would have been taciturn as to what he knew.
And people think life is hard now. These guys were beyond tough.
This fella has been told right spot on yessa
Very cool :)
Loved the tour and now I want to come for a visit.. soon I hope, thank you for sharing
Lovely programme.
We used to be so much more creative lol
Worked their in the summer of 1978 as stage manager had a great time the was a guy think he was the assistant manager Ken Harding the island was brilliant then 😎
It doesn't look like there are any serious structural problems. The walls are straight there are no traces of cracks or subsidence. The asking price is £500,000 as of 29-3-2024. I am interested to buy the place so it has been wonderful to see your film from 2017. Thanks for posting.
Fun tune! i've definitely gotta learn it!
Wow, close to home with family history. I have an extended family member who died in a mid-air collision over the Isle of Man on a training mission in 1944. AX538.
Detta är ett mycket bra föredrag. Vilket museum är det från? Spot on!
Great tunes!!!! I am a traditional irish and scottish fiddle player so i'm looking to incorporate more tunes from other celtic repertoires into my repertoire!
Bob's accent is very much that of west Wirral.
I like the cover art.
I have a question; if I were to buy one of these, where would I buy it, and how much would it cost?
