    My husband has two Nephrostomys. They are changed every 4 weeks (Germany). If they are blocked, I flush them with a sterile saline product. Our doc has warned us, not to use more than 3-5 ml, because it can disrupt the kidney . Besides it hurts to put in more. If I put anything in and out and in and out, I use what is coming out of the kidney anyway.

    You can actually use a night bag with a nephrostomy. My leg bag has a tendency to get stuffed if I try to use it overnight.

    Thanks for this video. My husband had a nephrostomy at Hospital Auxilio Mutuo here in San Juan, Puerto Rico and NO ONE has explained any of this to us. No one. The service here is so poor and mediocre. Thanks to CZcams and thanks again to you.

    Very useful and practical advice. BUT, what is desperately needed is a video explaining how to connect and route the rigging (tubing and bags) to a catheter coming from the tip of your male member -- and. addressing what to do (how to get maximum 'safe' freedom of movement) when the external part of the catheter tube is relatively short.

    My husband had a suprapublic catheter put in on April 5 at a urology center here in Omaha. He started bleeding and clotting real bad and he went into hospital April 7. While he was in the hospital they capped his suprapublic catheter and put a foley catheter in. He was discharged from the hospital April 22. Now his catheter needs to be changed. The Urology place gave instructions to our homecare agency nurse to take out the foley catheter permanently and change the suprapubic catheter. The nurse told us yesterday that when she changes his suprapublic catheter there will be clotting and bleeding with the suprapubic catheter. Is this true?

    Pushing non sterile water into your kidney seems a good way to get an infection. Why not use sterile prefilled syringes?

    Something I have discovered is if your SP catheter is clogging up from sediment in urine, is changing to a silicone catheter and getting the 20 gauge size. I was having clogging problem with mine for 5 straight months until I changed to silicone type. Problem solved!

    My father has 2 nephrostomy bags from his kidneys. He pulled on one of the tubes and now there is blood showing up in the tube for the past few hours and comes and goes with movement. Is this something to worry about and to bring him to emerge? He doesn't feel any pain either

    Seriously did you just say that if you see lots of blood to drink lots of tea or coffee to flush your bladder???? Surely with these being full of caffeine which irritates the bladder they should be avoided and stick to water.

    My brother has had this in place for a few months. He got no instructions on how to care for this AT all. I've been cleaning the dressing but never knew we had to flush this or replace anything. I'm freaking out now because he did not know and not one Dr ever told him to flush this. It's not draining on one side and they never seemed concerned with this. I'm going to go get supplies to do this flush it. But I'm scared. But it needs to be done.

    • @flyboyutahfoy8896
      @flyboyutahfoy8896 Před rokem

      I find connecting the catheter to the connection works well when you push it on with your thumb and index finger. Don’t pinch the catheter over the plastic connection, but rather push the catheter only. (Not the hard plastic your sliding it onto) This only works when the catheter is almost too small to fit over the hard plastic nozzle of the connection. Also, try moistening the hard plastic nozzle with water to lubricate the connection as you push.

    “If you declare with your mouth “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9). Now is the time to accept Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior. Obey His commands and repent of your sins because Jesus is coming back soon. Tomorrow isn’t promised.
