AMIN DAY PART 3: DR OBOTE REMEMBERS MARSHAL AMIN
11 April 2002
Celebrating the fall of Amin without hearing from Dr. Milton Obote, whom he loyally served and later overthrow, leaves the 2002 event you are enjoying rather wanting. That is why Owanapaedia brings you Dr. Obote's poignant analysis of Liberation Day 11 April 1985.

AMIN DAY PART 2: WANGUSA'S TRAGICOMIC ODE TO DADA
zhlédnutí 1,4KPřed dnem
11 April 2002 In 2002 East Africa's leaders converged on Kampala to celebrate Marshal Idi Amin's exit. The highlight was a poem by Uganda's literature guru, Prof. Timothy Wangusa, whose otherwise hillarious content can also be reason for anguish. But you will also see how Dr. Milton Obote looks at the now fading significance of Amin's defeat. James Magambo & PPU covered it for posterity. #owana...

11 April 2002 45 years after his defeat and exile, Marshall Idi Amin's story becomes more mythical as time flies but not all those who served him or fought him are extinct. In 2002, East Africa's leaders gathered in Kampala to remember Amin in a colourful function that started at Entebbe, ending at today's Serena Hotel. OwanaPaedia relives the moments. #owanapaedia #UgandanHistory #IddAmin

Ssebo mukulu Owana you can clearly see that Idi Amin Dada had very good and clear intentions for Uganda,in the few years he ruled he had made tremendous achievements. He had his country at heart, citizens came first unlike today where Rwandans,Sudanese,Indians and other foreigners are untouchable. This has caused a lot of hatred amongst the people which will backfire in the near future by the way. I repeat that he's the best president Uganda has had era may his soul rest in eternal peace unlike Mu7 who has put us in absolute poverty with all the land stolen from people. Thanks for sharing such with us.

Imagine his inteligence and ability to explain and foresee things in multitudes during that time!!! Listening to him awakens some dead spirits in our minds. Very intelligent and a way ahead of his time. Continue resting dear father. What you feared the most during those times is happening today in our African continent. Our leaders are just prefects infront of the northern leaders. They are totally dominated and the north bosses us. We borrow everyday from the north. Our economy is chained top to toe. Malcolm X was always right, and today the same words he said about revolution are heard in your talks Sir!

Nobody should hurry to condemn M7 as a hypocrite for the assurances he offered Habyarima of 'no Rwandans in Uganda basing in that country to attack Rwanda.' Anyone could've have been in his shoes at that moment. What is important to ask now is, how efficient or inefficient was his gov't and military intelligence not to be able to foretell and forestall(if M7/UG had no interest in the invasion) the mass exit and movement of thousands of Rwandese Ugandan soldiers, with expectedly, lots of weapons from Ugandan military bases?
