Sailing the Caribbean with no experience

Little did I know that the trawler would make me crave adventure at sea. Seems very obvious in hindsight now... a sailboat is the motorcycle of the ocean after all I thought. I was wrong - it was so much more. I signed up for a crew site told them a little about myself and then flew halfway around the world with no experience (and very little money - tale as old as time) to join the Pampero cre...

I spent a beautiful 2 weeks in Queenstown in the heart of the sounds and mountains. The riding here was the best it ever was and for the first time I was able to share it. My friend and I travelled together to the last road on the Western coast and all the way into the magnificent fiordland. It was some of the best of the trip.

The fishing trawler one... I wasn't able to film much legally and because I was so busy aboard the fishing trawler out of Nelson. I had managed to find myself a job at sea, naturally curious about what it would be like. It was rough but I will never forget it. After that experience I realised it was time to turn home and I was rained on for days on the way up. I didn't quite realise at the time...

I managed to eventually find work in the Takaka. Here I fell in love with the place. Every morning I'd rise to fog and frost and ride the race course that is the Takaka hill for an hour to reach the kiwi fruit farm. Throughout the week I'd stay on the farm and learn about the simple hardships of farming and in the weekends I'd explore. These were some of the most magical times and particularly ...

After a brief trip back home to Auckland to see off my vagabond pack I hit the road again. This time honestly I was precariously low on money and rather lonely. Once again low on money our little pack of three departed from the coast to find work. We found ourselves in the countryside again, this time working on a vineyard. For the better end of the COVID pandemic when things didn’t make much sense I bought a motorcycle. For the next year and a half I lived on the road, worked on farms, fishing trawlers, explored the beautiful country that is my home and somehow found my way onto a sailboat in the Caribbean. This is a culmination of that time and the feeling. I know it’s not movie related - but I’m extremely proud...

I had a theory which i doubt but thought would be sorta interesting. The theory was that the person Jerome lost to when he get the silver medal was an invalid. Thats why Jerome was so torn up about it, he was made to win and beat by someone with no advantages, a person who from an outside point of view had no chance against Jerome

Whenever I watch the HP series, I always am very keen on watching the half blood prince cause how deep, mesmerizing and gothic it looks and feels. But as much as I love that movie I'm still a bit bitter about the fact that they didn't show much of tom riddle aka voldemort's background and how he slowly transformed from a human to a demon through horcruxes.

I loved this movie. I tend to shove down the sad or painful feelings because I don’t want to deal with them but they just end up storing up in me until I’m depressed or explode. It’s so hard to acknowledge and express my feelings! It’s helpful to know that God created emotions and emotions aren’t bad. They’re like little kids in us that we are responsible for teaching and raising up to be mature.

There is literally no religious symbolism in this movie. You're self-inserting here. The depiction of her in the ISS "womb" is to symbolize her "rebirth." While the tether is attached to the characters for the good first half of the movie, only the specific scenes where she boards the ISS depicts her as a fetus. I wouldn't say that analogy applies to any and all scenes where there are wires or ropes, because the metaphor isn't clear outside of that scene. Basically applying the metaphor throughout the movie based on one scene is a false equivalency. She also doesn't die when George Clooney visits her, she's hallucinating, that's not akin to reincarnation.

The most significant statement is when he laments "you people..." It reveals his acceptance of being non-human, although it is what he desperately seeks, to feel, to taste emotion & savor each one. Alas it is not to be...but his life ends by displaying human qualities in saving blade runner. Great acting throughout this movie. Top shelf.

This is such an underrated movie to me. I think it's also a duality about dreams and death: how they drive people sometimes to their deaths--Vincent achieves his dream of going into space but will likely die there, if he gets some kind of medical procedure for his heart he'll live a longer life but his dream will end, so he chooses the dream and early death--and latching on to Vincent's dream and making it happen was the only thing keeping Jerome alive. When the dream was achieved he had no reason to continue. Dreams can carry life and bring death at the same time.

The thing about religious extremism is that a lot of people tend to do bad things, and use their religion as a “get out of jail for free” card. I’m not saying that all religious people are bad, so don’t think I’m generalizing. It’s not your religion, race, gender, or sexual orientation that makes you a good or bad person. It’s your actions that define you. Here are some bad people who are (or were) religiously motivated throughout history: The KKK, the Nazis, the puritans, Al Qaeda, the taliban, ISIS, etc. Here’s are some bad who were NOT religiously motivated: Josef Stalin, Mao Zedong, Timothy McVeigh, just to name a few. Now, before someone asks “Who’s Timothy McVeigh”, he was an anti government extremist. He may not have been religiously motivated at all, but his actions were still fairly right wing. Also before someone asks “How do you the Nazis were religious” allow me to make this clear. The Nazis had the phrase “Gott mit uns” on their uniforms, and if you translate that from German to English, it means “God is with us”. Now if anyone says “But just because Hitler said he was a Christian, doesn’t mean that he really was one”, my response would be “Then that must mean that Josef Stalin wasn’t an atheist since he said he was”. Also, there was a massive shooting at an LGBTQ nightclub at Colorado Springs. In which five people died, and at least twenty five (or twenty six correct me if I’m wrong) were injured. If the shooter was religiously motivated, it wouldn’t surprise me. Religious extremism is pretty much a part of what led me to become an atheist. Just to be clear again, I respect other peoples beliefs, just as long as they are not being bad people about it. Again, it’s the actions of a person that defines them.

I would love a part 2, that shows an expanded version of more feelings, and also shows just how vital every emotion is. And even how they speak to us through our body. All of our emotions are vital - they all tell us something and are meant to help us. They are our guidance through the world in this life. Anger tells us something is wrong and we need to stand up for ourselves and not tolerate something. Sadness teaches us what matters to us and what we cherish. Disgust keeps us safe from things that can make us ill, or things that aren't in line with our beliefs/goals. Fear tells us to weigh the pros and cons, to consider possible outcomes we may not have thought of, and to reconsider whether we are putting ourselves in a good position or not. Joy tells us what we love, what direction we should head in, what we want more of in our life.

I had never seen or heard this line until I watched the movie for the 1st time a month ago. For me personally, its a reminder that all of the memories and moments we accumulate in our lives, no matter how big or small, boring or amazing...will someday be lost with us dying. They are our own and most of them we never share. The vastness of ideas and thoughts that are lost will just disappear into the stream of time. Known only to the person who they belong to. Heart breaking.

I didn’t like joy for half of film when I first watched this in middle school but as I got older. I realized Joy was never mean yeah she was annoying but to me she’s actually supposed to a representation of toxic positivity. Joy rarely let the other emotions have control over what Riley is feeling. Joy constantly had to take over because she needs to have Riley to be happy at all times even when she not supposed to be. Joy was also pretty selfish and inconsiderate to others especially sadness only wanting to maintain a happy smile. There nothing wrong with being happy or having a good time but when someone who isn’t happy or isn’t in the mood to smile and when you’re constantly trying to force someone to smile and continue to bother the person to be happy because you don’t want to acknowledge they’re sad. You can come off as really annoying and insensitive.
