UH-OH! Someone at the Australian Academy of Science has done some truly regrettable video production and editing. All of the aerial footage actually shows FIN whales (the underwater footage is of blue whales, however), Watch as the surfacing fin whales show a sharp, tapered rostrum (muzzle or beak) with a bright white lower jaw. But blues have broad, flattened rostrums and their lower jaws are varying shades of blue-gray but never bright white. Fins are solid dark gray or brownish-gray on the dorsal side (back) but with a diagnostic light-colored chevron pattern, whereas blues' backs are dappled with unique freckle patterns, which is how individual blue whales can be recognized and catalogued. How could this have been overlooked by an entity like the Australian Academy of Science?!

That's an interesting explanation of *why* they do it, but the question of *how* they do it - without muscles - wasn't even addressed. I know it seems like an elementary, and therefore silly, question, but precisely how does a sunflower turn? What goes on in the stem to make them turn? *EDIT:* Turns out that, during the day, the east-facing part of the sunflower stem grows more than the west-facing side, which turns the sunflower from east to west - tracking the sun. At night, the reverse happens; the west-facing part of the stem grows more than the east-facing part, which causes the sunflower to turn east to await the rising of the sun.
