We're in the end game now fam. Also the bosses in this episode were some of my favorites, except Putrescent Knight he's like C tier lol. The other 2 have absolutely insane lore though Mike. Romina was the woman in the story trailer kneeling in the fire clutching her glaive. As Messmer burned her church down she found a divine element in the Scarlet Rot and became a Saint in the Order of Rot. While Malenia abandoned the Scarlet Rot, Romina embraced it and that's why she's in this odd transformed state. That's also why the Scarlet Rot and its followers in the Shadow Realm are this red color. Also Romina's OST is EASILY one of my favorite tracks in all of Elden Ring her music is insanely good along with Messmers and a few others. The lore on Metyr is absolutely INSANE though. She's the mother of all the Two Fingers as well as the Finger Creepers, and even the Three Fingers. In her boss room are what seem to be the remains of what look like Three Fingers, and she has this odd wound as if wounded by the Finger Slayer blade from the base game that Ranni had us collect for her from Nokron. What's really interesting though is that she's the daughter of The Greater Will. Ymir's hat tells us that the Greater Will is alike a black hole with absurd power. Then Metyr is its daughter sent down as a shooting star before the Elden Beast which would later replace her as the Greater Will for some reason would abandon her. If you remember in the base game constantly we had clues that something was wrong with the Two Fingers. They took thousands of years to be able to reach the Greater Will for guidance. I believe that the Two Fingers never had contact with the Greater Will. No this whole time they was contacting Metyr for guidance instead, and she has been using out of date info The Greater Will gave her before the Elden Beast was sent to the Lands Between. So this entire time the Fingers was frauds. What makes this even better is you've not played Bloodborne, but Metyr is 100% a Bloodborne reference as the entire community remembers 2 bosses from Bloodborne by looking at her. The real icing on the cake though is her music, notice how it's majestic at the beginning then in phase 2 it turns into this ominous droning. Fun Fact: that droning sound is the sounds of an actual IN REAL LIFE Black Hole. What's on Metyr's tail? A Black Hole AKA a Microcosm. It's what takes her dead body as we slay her. I personally think after we kill her The Greater Will takes her dead body hence the Black Hole absorbing her. Last thing I wanna say. The Claws of Night are legit cracked for Dex builds as each time you use the ash of war and throw the claws you continue to build up bleed. Plus they're the longest claws in game I believe and have really good damage while also being able to bypass shields to do roughly half damage. Blade of Night is good, but not great I think it's a shorter katana and its stance leaves you vulnerable to hits but its still a good solid weapon. The Claws are peak though, and between them being good dealing bleed quick and Metyr being weak to slashing damage that's why you melted her so quick lol. Dope episode though bro, and you might finish this series next episode. I'm looking forward to seeing you face the threats of Enir Elim! The putrescent knight is actually just one horse. I love the design here because just by looking at it, you can make out it's story. Somehow along the many dead things that washed up here, a horse fell into the putrescent lake. The putrescence trying to protect St. Trina made it's way into the body of the horse, then completely surrounded it's skeleton and ripped it out of it's belly. You can see that the back of the horse is completely torn apart. The putrescence now acts as muscle to the horses skeleton. And then as the torn of skin just floated in that pond of death juice, even more Putrescence used the horses torn of skin as a mold to reanimate it too. It's so f*cked up, I love it. What we witness here is basically a dead horse riding its own skin reanimated by literal death soup with what I assume to be a somewhat shared conscience. The weapon seems to be a collection of human bones all fused together and then sharpened. I thought some of these attacks looked a little silly at first until I realized that this thing probably feels no pain, nor is it human in nature. Why wouldn't it contort every bone in it's body if it makes for an efficient way of fighting. I didn't like the design at first when I didn't know what exactly I was looking at but it became one of my favorites. I remember seeing a lore video explaining why the putrescence is trying to protect St. Trina, but I forgot most of it unfortunately. Maybe someone else here has an idea. Maybe it's the fact that her eternal sleep (Or sleep in general) is very close in nature to death - the essence of the putrescence? I remember an item related to sleep saying something like that.
