I got fired! Well, laid off would be the right term. Anyway, after two long term jobs in the surf industry (TransWorld SURF and SuperBrand) I’d just had my second child when I was let go from my cushy get-paid-every-two-weeks-with-full-benefits-job and was looking to transition into real estate at the ripe old age of 45.
Not the most ideal time for a career change but you gotta deal with the cards your dealt and phase two of my working life was looking right at me. After passing the California State real estate exam I partnered up with my Dad at San Diego Investment Brokers before realizing my skill set and contacts translated better to the residential market rather than commercial.
Long story short, when life gives you no other option other than grind it out and make shit happen, you bet on yourself, roll up your sleeves and make it happen! Hasn’t always been easy and there have been plenty of bumps in the road (and surely more down the road), but I’m happy to say I’ve found a career I love and in just a few years have helped almost 40 friends and family members achieve their real estate goals.
