I'm Portuguese. A country that lives through music and poetry. Our roots are embedded in music. We had a revolution - on 24th April 1974 -, which brought us out from a dictatorship, and the signal for the beginning of said revolution was two songs playing on the radio, one of which had actually been a Eurovision participant. It initiated the military against the regime. And yet it was all so poetic... a florist in the midst of Lisbon distributed carnations amongst the people, and many of these flowers were placed in the military's gun barrels. It was a peaceful yet effective revolution: poetic. And we ended the dictorship. So we thrive on the pouring of our souls into the world, not worried about being accepted... but instead, pledging to be heard. Our eurovision songs are pure and pure poetry. Impactful, memorable and rarely not of an irreparable elegance. Very proud of Ioland. Such a beautiful song! Such a heartfelt performance! Such a mindblowing voice. And even if biased, I believe it was the most beautiful song this year and that it may end up on the soundtrack of some epic movie. Yes, you do give in to the song! It makes one's blood flow. :-)

No one, not even the producers who listen to and react to this song, has noticed the subtle growling vocal track throughout the song, especially on the chorus. This growl is so understated that it requires a critical ear to detect 😊

The song isn't political, but is about Joost, he tried to get closure from the shite he has been trough as an orphan and an ode to the Netherlands. Sorry, I'm 58y/o but when I watch your videos, I feel young again because you're speaking and judging with such dédain like you a 80y/o. You (and EBU) don't seem to understand that Eurovision needs a younger audience to survive and stay relevant. I.e. Edens song, despite her vocal qualities, is a song that could have been performed 40 years ago. It's just a 'thirteen in a dozen'-song which was supported by a huge ad campaign with even huge billboards in America promoting to vote for her, talking bout politics. According to you it should be the winner, but I guess that's because you're lead by patriotism. (FYI: I'm on Israels side in the war against Hamas) Then Croatia and Netherlands, which you don't like, because the songs were too simple in your opinion; unlike you, they know how to create a party, unite people. People were going wild and partying when they performed. We should party and celebrate life, stop being so fucking analytic as if you are a judge.

Yes, it's super simple, but that is what scores with the broader public; "the 4 chord song", right?! And I guess people already commented it, but is not about the Europa Park. Its a play on the words Europa (Europe) and Papa (Dad). On the political part, I agree with you that there is a certain political charge to it, but more aimed on the positive effects of the European Union being border less allowing us to be united as one people. He cleverly combined it with an homage to his parents, his dad specifically, creating the emotional ending. Building up to the old school "hardcore" part (that was specially mixed by DJ Paul Elstak), while performing the typical "hakken" dance-style, ultimately gives the song a real nice crescendo and truly a happy party vibe. So all in all a perfect song for the broader audience. But (IMHO) I do think we should not forget that in the end it is a "song"festival and the amount of live singing vs. the amount of lip-syncing is out of balance. But no clue what the rules are, if there are any, on this :) Peace

My theory is similar that the jury vote was rigged but it was rigged not only to prevent an Israel winning - it was a multidimensional chess move. They had actual reasons to want a win specifically by Switzerland and they didn't want Croatia or Ukraine winning either. The 4 other competitors that could receive the jury trophy were France, Ireland, Switzerland and Italy. As France and Italy were big 5 there was no good gage how much televotes they were going to get. They could potentially have gathered the jury points and flop the televote as happened with Sweden 2018 this defeating the rig. Ireland was too much so it left Switzerland who could and did get 200 televote points and ticked the inclusion box as a bonus. So, they rigged the Jury vote giving Switzerland the highest point per jury since the start of the current system in 2016. Higher then Sweden 2023 and Portugal 2017. Croatia was given enough points to finish high but not to win to minimize the potential scandal that could force the removal of juries - a thing that could happen had Croatia gotten only a 100 jury points or something. Regarding Joost, he probably did more then was told and his removal could conveniently reduce the chance of Israel winning the televote - a problem for the orgs by itself even if juries can prevent an overall victory.
