    Thankyou for this video. Newborough is a great Geology site. Just a thought. I talk to myself all the time about Geology sites but when i try to explain to someone else it all goes wrong. It is not easy at all. Well Done.

    We reviewed this today. My daughter will be using it in her HS science olympiad. It helped me refresh the structural geology I had forgotten over the years.

    If you are indeed a geologist please upload videos related to bearing and mapping and field identification of rocks. That would be a great help. I appreciate your work.

    Around 6:35 we start plotting the pole of a plane. Wouldn't it be 90 degrees off from the dip (43 - 90 = 47 degrees to the other side) instead of just the same 43 to the other side?

    • @drpaulanderson1
      @drpaulanderson1 Před 8 lety

      +PerfectDuck Because the counting is done from the centre of the stereonet you can just use the dip value (i.e., 43 degrees) - 43 from the centre of the stereonet is the same as 47 from the outside (so if you were to count from the outside inwards then you would have to subtract from 90 as you suggest)

    Always make sure you have the help of a responsible adult while doing stereonets.
