I am interested in making sure my family is safe and prepared for any immediate threat to our way of life. Self defense, or prepping for a disaster of any sort. I want to keep it real while having the insurance of knowing that if the lights go out my family can turn them back on.

What I think is the number one priority in a grid down situation.
Instead of throwing away the zinc pennies like he says you can send them to me
I hope you still have your penny hoard. we're over 3 cents each, and probably reach 4 cents within a year.
post 1982 cents have little copper content.
in coming years each pre-82 cent will be closer to 4 cents value. AI data centers, green energy and EVs will boost demand significantly.
A lot of Mexicans and Chinese have the FUBU gold silver program, mansion, girls, stocks, loser day dreamer ideology but dont get bank rolls or go "coin hunting".
Get more. We need more gringos like you.
How many copper pennies now in 2023?
If you put those wheats on ebay right now you would make even more. I've been looking all over to complete my collection and you probably have all the dates I need. Numismatic value for some if your coins will be way more than the cooper value would ever bring.
10 years later and those pennies have about half the buying power they did when the video was shot.
so worth about one penny? =D
@@MRkriegs Yes. Bad investment.
Grabs hand full of already sorted zinc coins, and the sorter spits them into the copper bin.. I hope you didn't pay too much for that machine.
Where can I get a sorter that sorts silver ?
Are you still collecting copper?
How much is it doing today
You could go ahead and melt those into bars if you wanted to. That's legal. Unfortunately you're not allowed to sell them for their copper value yet.
well here it is 10 years later and copper is 3.40 a lb.
Ya,... melt your pennies, and retire in prison. Its a felony.
Hope you have this today lol your predictions were true
How much is that machine?? Interesting!!
What do you do with the 100 pounds of dimes leftover? The bank probably locks the door when they see you pull up lol
U can melt copper pennies as long as it's intended for educational purposes, so just make a tutorial video and save it and it's all good 😊👍 your welcome
Bad investment.
Metal are store of value…..buy 1000 cents get 1000 back when u decide …. Fiat currency can’t do it. ….. if u are millionaire, just preserve value, don’t need get greedy investing for more because u might loose too
Heyyyy, it’s me in 2022, inflation did happen really bad
Yeah, my penny hoarding time is now. Wish I had started hoarding when you made this video. Hope you still have your stash.😁
oh its hitting big fella. Hope you kept up your stack!
My time machine broke and I didn't have enough power to get back far enough, my good friend you're on the right track I hope these last 9 years haven't treated you too badly
Has anyone come across a way to do this with quarters? I get about $1,000 a month in quarters from coin laundry machines and would loved to run them through a machine like this to find silver.
Just wait until the US dollar crashes. Then your copper cents will become valuable under the new gold/silver standard!
Copper makes a specific sound so if you are only saving these to make money with just bounce it off of something wood concrete and listen to the sound the copper makes. zinc has a dull sound copper has a ring to it also if you happen to find the 1982 small date copper penny minted in Denver do not melt it lol
Well I just started this so this will be my retirement
4 u still around
I use copper to supplement silver and gold stacks, and also as an emergency barter item since it is small denomination and also has real metal value not just face value.
Exactly! The collector value will be higher than the metal value and they are perfect for bartering.
You still have them pennies?
11/21. The Penny is still going. Hows your investment going?
While the copper pennies are still available, the haters will hate, but once it's all gone, they will want it. I'm sure the same thing happened with silver dimes, quarters, half dollars, and dollars. They are getting scarce now. Its a long term deal, but they are slowly disapppearing
9 years later, copper is .27 per ounce (10 pennies) looks like you made a good choice.
Excellent video! Love all the ignorant naysayers who tell you how to earn paper "money." When it takes a wheelbarrow full of thousand or more likely million dollar bills to buy a loaf of bread, you will be sitting pretty.
We are absolutely heading full-speed toward Zimbabwe or Venezuela fiat currency. Frankly, our dollar is doomed.
You’re probably not going to get rich at it. It is fun though
PENNIES and COPPER. Folks, three points. You think you can horde copper coins for an investment windfall down the road? Try again. It would be better to horde copper wire. (1) As an example, just try to sell your pennies today. ---- Good luck. It ain't gonna happen. First off, I doubt if banks will buy your rolls back, unless you've got a real good relationship. And it's ILLEGAL to melt penny and nickel coins in the US. (Yes, you can melt silver and gold coins, because they're not used in circulation). Pennies and nickels are not allowed to be melted. And if you try to sell it to a corrupt smelter, and are caught, that's a $10,000 fine. So, melting your horde is off the table. What other choices are there? (2) CoinStar. But you'll lose 10 percent of any profit upfront, plus, it'll take you a long time to feed your thousands of boxes of pennies into the machine?! True. Might as well buy a lazy chair and a wheelbarrow, and ask the grocery store to let you sit in the check-out area (where that machine is) and feed your boxes of pennies in. HINT. 1,000 pennies = $10 bucks - 10 percent = $9 bucks. (Dude, it ain't worth your time). (3) Then again, storing hundreds/thousands of pounds of copper coins can destroy the actual coin itself over time. Why? Storage of the copper coins is tricky. You'll probably end up putting those heavy boxes in your basement. Your hot/cold/clammy basement. The problem with that is there's something called VERDIGRIS. Verdigris is that green, corrosive stain that happens to copper coins when surface dirt/oils mix with humidity over time. A green dot, or small stain will appear on the coin surface and then spread. From one coin to the next. Worse, once its on several, it will then consume a hundred, or a thousand coins in a weekend. They will all have a green haze on them. That haze will turn into a kind of sandy, thick, dark green corrosion. Left alone, your entire penny will become a circular, sandy green thing. No, having your coins in paper wrappers won't stop it either. In sealed boxes could be worse, because you can't see the coins. They may already be "infected." Does the place where you keep your coins get super hot or cold during the day? Humidity in the air will affect the coins as if they were raw coins in a bucket. Yeah, you could put your pennies into expensive plastic holders, but why? And I've seen verdigris infect plastic tubes of pennies too, and it will seal shut that tube of pennies. The corrosion is the kiss of death of the copper penny. Try to sell that green thing, or use it. Lastly, if you do have any valuable coppers, (eg, Key dates, or valuable mint errors), make sure that they get graded and holdered professionally if possible (eg, PCGS or NGC), before their surfaces gain that tiny green dot. Once a coin gains that green, it's considered UNGRADEABLE and thus worthless. So, I'd recommend NOT stacking pennies. Not storing any coins (or stamps for that matter) in the basement OR attic. And take time to sample your coin collection every month or so. Look through a bunch. Look for any tiny green spots. If you find any problems, pull those coins out immediately. (Green, milky stain, also gets on silver coins [eg, Morgan dollars]. It's the humidity). And, so -- buy a RED BOOK and hunt through your loose change for any good stuff, instead. --- A 1955 DDO cent would be nice to find. Or maybe even a 1950-D Nickel. They're still out there. Good luck!
Rule number 1 when investing : DO NOT invest in things you don't understand !
You turned out to be correct!
Stock market was up last year
Smart man. I hope you have held on to these copper pennies all these years. The price of copper is almost $10 a pound right now if melted into ingots. I know it's illegal to melt pennies into ingots but three rolls of pennies equals a pound. That's all I'm saying.
It’s illegal if you go around telling everyone you melted pennies for the metal content.
@@nslouka90 You sound like a Karen. I never condoned what the man was doing. I was only trying to point out to those making fun of him (for hording copper pennies) that his economic policy was very sound. Besides, with all the graft and corruption so prevalent in our coutry today, do you really thing anyone even cares about some guy melting down a few pounds of old pennies to salvage the copper. Speeding on the interstate is illegal too. But when kept within reason, the cops won't do a thing. Besides all of that, we will soon be a cashless society. What will the govt. do with all that change when it's turned in? Melt it down.
Copper ingots are selling right now (March 3, 2020) on ebay for $6 to $10 per pound. That fact changes the economics of this practice immensely. His $25 worth of pennies converted to 16 pounds of ingots will now sell easily for $100 dollars and, depending on the quality of the ingots, may sell for as much as $160. ALL DAY LONG.
It’s hitting now thanks biden
They will become valuable in the next 30 years or so. If population continues to grow or even remain, all type of resources will become depleted and harder to get and that's when they will allow to melt it. But you will be pretty old. It might become very useful for your children or grandchildren.
Saving copper cents is not a worthwhile investment in any financial portfolio. Maybe done as a hobby, although I dont see why. The pure bulk vs dollar value just doesn't seem worth the time or effort in my opinion. One could make more money picking up bottles and cans on roadside.
8 years later...are you still doing this?
Yes. It will be a gold mine
You still got that copper brah?
should have bought gold
