I have a theory. Perhaps Dottore is, as one person said here, trying to get rid of his younger self. But maybe he also hates himself to the point where he wants to be dead as he hates what he has become.. Dottore's backstory has never been gone into at all. Arlecchino's backstory has been gone into, Childe's, Wanderer/Scaramouche, Signora. So why not Dottore? So my theory is he was forced into being a Fatui Harbinger like Childe, Scara and Signora. He hates himself for becoming what he has and wishes to die. He doesn't/can't go on playing as The Doctor, as Il Dottore, as he's been made to dance for the Fatui's amusement. Think about it. Scara was treated as a puppet who has been broken time and time again. Signora was treated as a fiery furnace after a loss, a furnace that is ready to spring into light and blaze through anyone/anything. Childe is treated like a lone child who can't be seen that he is broken inside. Arlecchino is treated with a caution as they know she is protective over her children and love them even though she doesn't want to let others know. They were all treated by the others as who they truly are. But we have never seen Dottore with another Harbinger. Why not? Because it would reveal Dottore for who he really is underneath. And so maybe, like Childe he was taken in by the Fatui at a young age and he was broken and molded into what he is by the Fatui.

It may sound weird, but I like the idea of him trying to "get rid" of his old (younger) self. People on other plantforms speculate that he doesn't want to be alive and/or hates himself (something like that). Interesting, that I get back to this topic when I try to understand his character.

The moment I saw Dottore I always felt intrigued? Somehow I'm still interested in this character even though its been out for awhile, like the moment it came out I absolutely adored this character-
