Whilst it’s with good operatic bent this is done, it opens the door for self hate which was prominent among Eritreans post the Italian occupation of such lovely yet self hating population. Come back home. You can start over. Opera is an excellent venue to study music, once studied, As one musical venue, it must lose its influence in cultural expressions. It cannot assimilate into a musical venue with clearly ethnic African, Asian, Black American, Middle Eastern music. It stands out as huge zit on a super clear complexion. Eurpeanization of cultural and economic essence of any other nationals is, for me, invasive and insulting. Trust me I liked what you did but doesn’t me that it is right to be sucked into the vortex of a culture which looks down on Africans. Call me narrow minded if you wish and I accept that if you totally understand what I am trying to protect.
First of all, I totally disliked your denigrating of ERITREANS and ERITREANISM, as "Self Hating People". ERITREA AND ERITREANS are ever enduring and graceful people with ingenuity, cultural wealth, and incomparable history. Thus, avoid that description. I do not know what natuonality you are, but do not attack ERITREANS in such words and manner. Secondly, whilst I understand your concerns about preserving Eritrean indigenous culture, Opera is no more European to music as it is International. While it's roots are based on the musical tradition of Western Europe, it has evolved and endured over centuries to stay relevant to all people. Opera and Classical music is a form of fine art, that deserves to be studied, performed, and appreciated by people of all nationalities and creed. Classical music belongs to Africa, and African music once thorough composed and reinterpreted is of essence part of the huge classical music canon.
