This rollsizer can be connected to your electric drill if it is a 2 speed unit using a slower , high torque setting which will work fine. In manual operation we recommend a processing rate of 400-5...

      @@rollsizer5623 I am looking forward to using it. The camber on my 6.5 CM must be very liberal at the base. I have played with a number of full length sizing dies and both a Forester and Area 419 press. And of course a variety of approaches to the shell holder. Bottom line for me is trying to size the base in this manner is not going to work. It isn’t consistent and varies based on how many times the brass has been fired. I was going to find a base sizing die for my press but I had my doubts on that as well. This approach just makes sense based on what I have experienced.

    Hi, two questions: After brass are processed by Rollsizer, still need a resizing DIE? On the other side, when reloading 9mm few cartidges don't fit in the cartidge comprobator. The solution I use is use the LEE Factory Crimp DIE in those cartidges. After using this DIE, the rounds fits perfectly in the cartidge comprobator and in my gun chamber. Seems that Rollsizer do to the same that LEE Factory crimp DIE, but before start reloading process... so why is rollsizer a better solution? Note that I'm writting from Spain, where reloading is not as normal as in EEUU and where we don't have access to a lot of reload stuff as well as we are very limited in the number of primers/powder we can buy. I'm reloading 1200-1500 rounds per month. Kind regards.

    • @rollsizer5623
      @rollsizer5623 Před 11 měsíci

      The Lee die is good but is still limited to what normal dies can do. They cannot full length size cases, no dies can. The rollsizers work on the bottom 1/4" of the case immediately above the extractor groove. This is the part the sizing dies cannot reach and is the cause of most chambering problems. The rollsizer brings this back to a mid range factory size AND forces the base concentric to the rim. This last issue is VERY hard to pick with gauges but is a major cause of failure to go into battery. Pm me if you need this explained further. It is a very complex issue. You still need to size cases as the upper part of the case behaves like an open can and can only be sized by a circular die. The standard Dillon dies work perfectly fine with rollsizing. No need for a FCD. We found adding a FCD after rollsizing resulted in more coke bottle in the middle of the case. That will compromise magazine and feeding reliability.

After full length sizing die the bell is still there, is that normal/on purpose? 2nd the 223 conversion plate doesn’t fit on the base shaft correctly, the hole seems to be to tight. Once installed it is almost impossible to remove it again. Is it supposed to be like that? The 9mm plate fits easily. Regards from Germany

    • @rollsizer5623
      @rollsizer5623 Před 3 lety

      Yes. The small depression is normal. The process does 3 discrete things. 1. Case becomes concentric (hence the dimples/ depression just above the extractor groove) 2. The case is now circular and sized back to factory standard. 3. The case becomes square to the base. Not as much of a problem with rifle but the problem does occur. As far as the plate goes. If you use a small jewelers file down either side of the shaft keyway it is probably a small burr. Rotating the disc clockwise and anticlockwise will help in the removal. Possibly the disc has a small burr on the inside of the disc. Probably around the place where the key slot was cut.

What we have found is the rim and case concentricity is 99.9% of the problem and the rollsizers fix that very well. It very poorly understood in general. Unfortunately normal or undersized dies cannot get the case concentric to the rim as there is too much play in the case / shellplate.

      Will roll sizing tighten up a loose primer pocket?

    • @rollsizer5623
      @rollsizer5623 Před rokem

      @@brianyamasaki1252 no. Nothing will fix that. Rollsizing will improve a case life and there is some evidence that the primer pocket size is retained with repeated rollsizing / reloading but it's hard to tie that back to the mg fired cases. Thebloose pockets are usually from the loose chambered /mg / blow back action guns....they trash cases badly.

    I’ve just ordered up a Mark7 and roll sizing popes on my radar. where does the bulge go? Does it ultimately contribute to more case neck trimming? If a person uses a “small base die” is there any considerations to made?

    • @rollsizer5623

      Also, the small base circle dies can cause a lot of problems with case shapes, notably coke bottle shapes in 9mm and others. With a rollsizer you will be able to use standard sizing dies and get a better / more consistent case shape. Small base cirle dies are not recomended with rollsizing. The key issue is to duplicate a Factory size, this will be the most consistent and reliable. Yes trimming will still be necessary but this should be minimal. We have found from feedback that case life is much better with rollsizing, any questions talk to us at info@rollsizer.com

    I use a reclaimed vibrator from an old baby swing to deliberately add *dither* to the powder drop for more consistency in powder throw.

    I reload 22lr. The factories use a machine to crimp and cannelure 22lr cartridges that is VERY similar to this machine. The crimping machine has a blade and a knurler on it but other than that it is exactly the same design. I have learned a bit of machining in order to make the dies and tools for reloading 22lr. I use a collet type crimper now...a modified Lee Collet crimper. Been trying to make myself a crimper similar to the case pro 1000 but lack the skills. Sigh.

      How much do you save per round reloading 22LR? At the price point of these machines it'll be a long while before you break even let alone start saving money.

    The latest round count was over 20,000,000 cases before the base needed replacing, this was basically run non stop for 3 years as a commercial processor.

    Actually it does make a difference if the cases feed upside down. When it is upside down you are NOT base sizing the case, ,which is the whole point of rolling the case. Any bulge will still be on the brass, which could cause the final finished round to not be able to seat properly in the chamber. Which could cause a blow out of the base of the case directing the gasses straight down the magazine well. So pay attention during rolling and grab any upside down cases as they are coming off the machine.

    Does this require an adapter to connect to a drill?

      We supply 2x hex bit adaptors with each manual rollsizer. They are nothing exotic and are readily available from a hardware store if you loose them.
