The History of Continental Championship Wrestling
She has large breasts.
I was living in Decatur at this time, so I loved this stuff. WWF rarely seemed to be on regular TV (and were doing closed-circuit big shows), but I could always watch Continental (and later WCW) with Gordon Solie...I even had a friend with cable, so I could watch their big shows.
God I miss the old school wrestling... as a child I watched Bullet Bob Armstrong, Rick Flair, Austin Idol, Adrian Street, the Tennessee stud and so on every Tuesday night at mobile expo hall. I met Bullet Bob on night. I was just a little kid that got lost in the crowd. He seen me and took me to the ring and had my mom come to the ring to get me.... he instantly became my favorite of all time. It will never be another BULLET BOB.... I'm 48 years old now and no one has become my favorite except the Bullet.
Continental was awesome. The ideas in that territory are still used today.
I'd like to personally thank Ron & Robert Fuller, Bob & Brad Armstrong, Jos LeDuc and many others for the great entertainment they produced for me,my father and many friends which would drive from Panama City to Dothan many times. A time in my life that I'd love to relive if possible. Thank you ALL so much
I would watch this on Saturday afternoons in the 1980s thanks CCW for all the great memories!
Would love to sit n talk to Ron fuller ..Jimmy Golden n Robert fuller they were the ttrue freebirds of wrestling bk in the days
And according to Wikipedia, the CCW tape library is still owned by David Woods of Woods Communications (WCOV TV) in Montgomery, and it’s the only territory tape library (or one of the very few, but I think it says only) out there not owned by Vinnie Mac. Those need to be digitized if they haven’t been, and need to be on a streaming service.
Yeah my buddy bought the masters from someone that worked at WKRG and was connected to Woods. We watched them all the time cause I grew up loving the shows and was blown away when I found out he had the videos. He’d get mad cause I wanted to watch them 24/7😂
Female anchor has a strong rack game
I was raised in dothan. Most Saturdays nights I would be at the farm center. Great memories. I miss those days
I was waiting for the news guy to say it was fake and the news gal to give him an open hand slap.
CCW was awesome back in the day truly a great territory......
They're promoting Dothan but I remember it being jammed packed in the boutwell auditorium in Birmingham Alabama on Monday night with Gordon solie announcing I never missed a Monday night had countless autographed pictures of men in their underwear
Man, I grew up on this stuff. Me and my dad would watch this all the time. This was the kayfabe era, so we really, really got into the characters and storylines. I didn't follow industry news, though, till much later and didn't realize that Vince screwed it all up by creating a monopoly. I'm all for capitalism, but without business competition then you're killing the entire market.
Did Eric Bischoff run Continental Championship Wrestling?
No Robert Fuller the Tennesee Stud
@@roysears2919 No, Ron Fuller did. Robert and cousin Jimmy did own a part though.
Loved the territories.I grew up watching the Memphis territory.
The lord humongous war machine. I loved this stuff as kid growing up near birmingham my grandad loved it to and took me to matches ..great memories
Rikshisi needs to go to that reunion show and Stinkface everybody.
The Anchorman is one freaky looking Dude!!!
I was at Ft. Rucker and went to Dothan to watch the action. It was awesome.
Wish this would've aired in my area at the time.
this was the best! No other area did it like those guys! They are legends to this day! Ron and Robert Fuller, Jimmy Golden, Bullet Bob Armstrong, Austin Idol, Norvel Austin, the Magolian Stomper, Roy lee Welch, Charlie Cook, The Flame, The Assians, The Freebirds, Tony Charles just to name a few. Just go back and look at the interviews and promos. That type of showmanship started in the CCW!
@@roysears2919 In the 70s & early 80s I grew up in Gordon Alabama...about 20 miles south of Dothan. We moved to Satsuma Alabama...about 20 miles north of Mobile in 1981 when I was 12. I remember the Houston Co Farm Center on Friday nights & then WTVY Studios on Saturday mornings. Ron & Robert Fuller HAD IT GOING ON IN THOSE DAYS!!!
Randy Miller that was the good ole days! Lol
Vince ruined wrestling, all it is now is soap opera fluff.
He turned it into a clown show
watching southeastern championship wrestling, then continental championship wrestling in the early eighties,,got me back into the genre..i miss those old days..and going to a drug store looking over all the new wrestling magazines each month to read the stories and follow the ratings of all the wrestling terrorities.wish there was a way that wrestling could go back to those days
Don't forget Columbus, Ms! These guys were like Rock Stars there. Hell, i bought so much memorabilia from CCW. The Nightmares, Wildcat Wendell Cooley, Lord Humongous, The New Guinea Headhunters, Adrian Street, The Bullet, etc.... Damn, this brings back childhood memories.
austin idol, the original rock and roll express,,and even future stars like shawn michaels made appeaarances in c.c.w
@@michaelstallings5824 Yeah, Rock and roll express and Midnight Express. Shawn Michaels and Marty jannetty. I always liked the Head hunters music before entering. Lord humongous was my all time fave though. That hockey mask sold it. Plus i was heavy in to Friday the 13th.
Somebody should do a documentary about the CCW!! That was some of the best Rastling of all-time!! I I'm blessed to have grown up in P'cola and was able to watch the CCW as a kid.
Thanks Dillon
Thank you so much for the report. I live in Tallahassee but grew up in Milton so I would watch Southeastern, then Continental. Brought back memories.
Michael Staden...Milton. fl...lol I grew up in P'cola!! Those were great memories
Milton in the House!! lol
In the 70s & early 80s I grew up in Gordon Alabama...about 20 miles south of Dothan. I used to go to the Houston Co Farm Center on Friday nights to watch these matches. Then on Saturday mornings we would go to WTVY Studios in Dothan & watch the matches being taped for Saturday afternoon. We left the Dothan area in 1981 when I was 12 & moved to Satsuma Alabama...about 20 miles north of Mobile. On Tuesday nights in Mobile we went to the Expo Hall here in Mobile for Southeastern Championship Wrestling. Great Great memories!!!
Continental championship wrestling was the bomb. living in Alabama. it was must-see TV. we talked about wrestling all week and our homes at school everywhere. Damn You Vince McMahon. You ruined wrestling
Dewayne Perry that was the best era for wrestling
Dewayne Perry In the 70s & early 80s I grew up in Gordon Alabama...about 20 miles south of Dothan. I went to Ashford Annex School thru 6th grade. We moved in 1981 when I was 12 yrs old to Mobile Al. Man, I remember the Houston Co Farm Center on Friday nights as a boy...then WTVY Studios on Saturday mornings. Man, great great memories of Ron & Robert Fuller, Bob Armstrong, Jimmy Golden, Mongolian Stomper, Dr.D David Schultz, Tom Prichett, Sid Vicious (Lord Humongous) Ric Flair, Ox Baker, Andre The Giant, The Wrestling Pro, Harley Race, Austin Idol, Jerry Stubbs, Arn Anderson, & I could go on & on.
Nothing better than Gordon Solei (Birmingham) and Lance Russell (Memphis)
