I am into technology, cars, humor, photography, and cycling (both motorized and pedal variety). I enjoy learning and sharing what I learn. I am employed as an inside plant technician for a telecommunications company. I won't give away proprietary information, but hopefully people will enjoy the insight into how a "phone" company works.

Loved seeing that DMS
John 3:16-21 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God. Mark 1.15 15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel. 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. Hebrews 11:6 6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
Nice explanation, I love seeing all that old CO equipment still in use as well. How much do HDSL lines typically cost for voice?
2-400/mo
When you get your notice, take it to the crusher.
Rock on dude, PA is beautiful
Thanks .....Where can you get the grab rails?
I purchased them at my local Harley dealer, over 7 years ago now
What Rt was this
Hwy 641
What do you expect? Reliability? Jeeps were always unreliable. Just like Harley-Davidson motorcycles. It's just "Marketing Brand Imaging." Now we add crappy, unnecessary computers for gear shifting! SIGH. We never needed computers to change gearshifter in automatics before... we used our HANDS. Remember, the actor who played Scotty in the new Star Trek movies was KILLED by being pinned by his new Jeep with "electronic gearshifter." I liked him a lot. Seemed like a good guy. R.I.P. Unless you get a J-VIN vehicle, you are a MORON. Or you like wasting your HARD earned money. Or you simply like putting yourself in danger. No, J-VINs are not infallible. But they ARE the best we got. That's not an opinion. It's fact based on recall numbers, defect data, initial and long-term build quality, Consumer Reports data, etc, etc. If you're not sure what I mean, that's okay. People, please look at the VIN of the vehicle you're interested in purchasing (and will be carrying your loved ones in). Make sure the First Digit is the letter "J." That means Finally Assembly was done in JAPAN. By actual Japanese workers who take personal pride in perfection of their part of the assembly. And NO, I am not Japanese. I just don't want to waste my hard earned money, time, or risk safety. Peace!
How wide is you passenger seat ???
I can't say exactly since I have sold this one and now have an Ultra Classic Limited. My wife was very pleased with it though.
Do you still have the jeep? I would like to the 2014, have you had any issues with the transmission? Thanks.
Junior Silva yep, still have it. I've heard of people having problems with the transmissions, but mine works great. If you put it in manual mode with the traction selector in any position other than sport though you will likely find the shifting sluggish
Well I also heard that they did a recall on the transmission on the 2014 and 2015 jeep Cherokee, I wonder if they actually fixed the problem
Do you still have this printer and how has it held up because I am looking to buy a used one from someone here locally.
sunshinetsb1 yes, I still have it. It seems a little slow compared to more recently released printers, but it is still going strong, I've had to replace cartridges a couple of times. The third party ones I bought on Amazon worked great and saved me over $100
Wow, glad to hear. I looked up the third party cartridges as well. That's the great thing about things being a little older is you can get those so much cheaper. I was looking at new printers and inkjet ink are just over the top in cost and I understand that toner based printers tend to last longer and print so much better graphics wise. I don't have a home office or need for lots of bells and whistles but it's just frustrating to buy these $75-200 models that don't last long. Canon makes HP printers according to the Staples store rep today. I actually bought a new unit similar to the Canon you have at a REALLY good deal but I haven't worked recently due to back injury etc. and really I need to take it back no matter how good the deal then I seen someone on FB who had a used unit very similar to what I got today and he's had it for 3 years and just put new toner in it and is downsizing to a smaller printer and says there is nothing wrong with this one for $75. I tried to get him down on price and he's nice enough but he's used it in his office and looks to be well taken care of and he feels it's worth that. Wish me luck. :)
how is doing now? any more issues?
Only problems so far are the media player occasionally refusing to respond to user input (keeps playing just won't let you select a track) and the bluetooth call volume seems to have recently dropped dramatically. I would note that I have never been happy with the rear-seat climate control output. If you don't have it manually set to the top vents in the front, the rear seat passengers get almost nothing.
Thanks
Did u have to replace the chrome strut or fender covers.
no, they stayed stock
Is this harley or aftermarket product? If so, which manufacturer? Thx
bought it direct from the local Harley shop in Chambersburg, Harley branded
Very cool man, I would love to get out of the NOC and work in a CO but sadly those positions are fading fast.
I see this stuff at many COs at the telco I contract for, and most of it looks abandoned. Do you think they still use it? If so, would it be for internal traffic or customers? Thx
Springtrap77 yes it is absolutely still in use. We still have several thousand HDSL subscribers in our area. Fiber buildout is quickly replacing HDSL in urban areas, but rural areas still rely heavily on this older technology. Even the sub T1 circuits are still in use for secure voice and data monitoring.
Conventional DS1/T1 TDM services are going away as end users opt for Ethernet interfaces at optical line rates equal to native Ethernet speeds. Verizon plans to phase out its traditional TDM network in he next ten years, and switch to Ethernet based interface rates. So yes, HDSL is a dying technology that did its job of bringing the conventional T1 circuit to the customer in short order and where no optical transport equipment existed at the time. Fiber continues to replace copper cable in the local loop. The deployment of Two Wire DSL technologies by TelCo's for T1 and DDS was a stop gap measure to maximize existing outside copper cable plant to support traditional service demands, while at the same time spending capital dollars on deploying new optical fiber networks in the local loop for today's new Ethernet based technologies.
It looks abandoned because CO's are typically low maintenance. Telecom companies aren't manning CO's due to staffing cost, therefore network techs are straddling multiple offices in one area.
Using a power tool is overkill. Pretty scary.
Scary? I suppose if you were careless or overzealous. It was just convenient and expedient in my case.
Also you can get a $20/month dry copper pair from the telco and put shdsl modems on each end (using WIC-SHDSL in a Cisco, for example). If both ends are in the same wire center and within the distance limit, this can be an inexpensive alternative to a T1 line. shdsl is basically an improved version of hdsl.
Both the 2 wire and 4 wire HDSL can be repeatered. The difference is that the 4-wire uses a lower frequency and can go further; if I recall correctly, around 15,000 feet vs. 10,000 feet for the 2-wire. This distance is without repeaters. The ~190V on the line is used to power the HDSL to T1 converter card (H2TUR) at the customer's location. It's not required for any reason other than that--the cards can be powered locally from a -48V power supply, but I have never seen that done.
Brian Leeper I've used powered NIU's on 3 repeater applications and also in areas where the plant facilities weren't capable of handling the -190 vdc
The Two Wire HDSL2 standard did not include a two wire HDSL Doubler (Repeater) equipment, compared to the Four Wire HDSL4 standard. Not to be confused with proprietary HDSL equipment that prevailed prior to the adoption of HDSL2 & HDSL4 national standards in and around 2000/2002 time frame.
man thanks for the help. I'm computer stupid!!!
Great Review Dan. It looks like the Compute Stick is working great. I'm an Apple FanBoy, so I have an AppleTV that I use. I also just got a Synology NAS that I'm going to use for various things, but one will be a media server. Subscribed!
Did you clean your bike just prior to the install? looks new ..
probably only had a few hundred miles on it at the time... it's been across the country and back twice now
What kind of dash cam is that
It is actually an "action camera" from Garmin - the VIRB XE
Great video, thanks!
What happens if you do not pull up on the electronic parking brake to set it to PARK. What happens if you have the gear in Park but you do not touch the electronic park brake lever??
You SHOULD use the parking brake when you park the vehicle, but it is not imperative. It will still go into park just like any other vehicle. I don't use it much myself, but I checked the manual and found a couple of things to be aware of. 1) if you have adaptive cruise on and it stops you behind another vehicle for 3 minutes it will apply the parking brake for you 2) in order to release the parking brake, you need to put your foot on the regular brake before pressing the parking brake switch 3) in order to apply the parking brake you pull up on the switch
Hello Daniel, What is the range on the autostart?
+Jeremy540 The range of the remote start varies widely depending on interference and obstruction conditions and the battery level of your fob. I would say anywhere from 50-150 feet. If you subscribe to Mopar's "UConnect" service you can remote start from practically anywhere as long as both you and your vehicle have access to a cellular phone network. No matter which way you go though, there is no confirmation that the remote start actually occurred. Both UConnect and your fob are 1-way only
+Daniel Hall yes it sends you a message that the vehicle started. Or failed
+chris Hello I let my Uconnect lapse. Does it really tell you that it successfully started or just that the command was successfully sent? That is all it used to do.
+Daniel Hall it sends you a message weather it failed to start or not.
awesome thank you for this video helped alot
Have you had any of the transmission troubles that many people complain if? I'm really wanting to buy this jeep in 4 months.
I haven't had any failures with it. I do have some criticisims about it though. Being a 9 speed trans you do notice a lot of shifting going on during acceleration. If you switch it to manual shift mode and don't have it in the sport setting shifts are extremely sluggish. Better in sport mode, but still not perfect. Go off road with it though and you will fall in love. Mine is the V6, I've driven the 4 popper and there is no contest unless it is going to be an on-road commuter only vehicle for you.
Thank you for the detailed instructions. I followed them and updated my 2015 Ultra Limited software without incident. Regards. :)
Can you provide a one month update, including how many pages you print a month, any issues, any calls to tech support etc?
+Jason Zammit, great idea! sorry I took so long to reply, but it is posted now.
cheers mate!
easy, but looks difficult
+Roberto Maglanque it really is relatively easy.
Thanks for the video. I was wondering how difficult was the install but it looks easy :)
thanks for the video, Bill
Thanks, I was wondering how difficult those were to install.
Use this 4 point docking set also. Works great ! Thanks for sharing the video.
