Get out the snacks and the small bike, we are gonna be spending some time on the mountain! Another training ride in the Sandias, I try to dial in my nutrition a bit more. It was a hot one out there and I definitely battled my brain on this one, I hope you enjoy following along!

We hit the immaculate trails at Trestle Bike Park once again! Saturday means crowded trails and some carnage, but we still had a great time. After miles of flow, Sam and I decided that Trestle reminds us of one of our favorite flow factories in the country... can you guess where we are thinking of?

Sam hijacked the camera today! We ventured north to one of the flowiest bike parks in the USA, Trestle in Winter Park Colorado. This video is Sam, myself, and our friend Jacob checking out all of the trails and enjoying the smooth sailing all day.

We slow things down today and try three new trails that we have never ridden before! We always stick to the downhill trails at our local system and have ignored the more technical trail-riding style routes.. time to change that! After a big rain storm, Sam and I hit 10k, Tree Spring, and Oso Corredor to put our trail riding skills to the test. Spoiler alert, the skills are rusty!

Sam and I take to the trails at our favorite trail center in New Mexico, Glorieta! Today is Sam's birthday, so we ride his two favorite trails: Holy Mole and Chili Dog. We focus on pedaling less and flowing more, while also checking out some new and old features on Chili Dog.

Sorry to hear this. Take the time to heal up properly. If you remember we met at Bentonville at the Castle. My friend Matt that was with me just had a knee replacement surgery and he is out till Jan. Wishing you a speedy recovery!

Wishing you the best on your recovery. Last summer I wrecked on a super easy turn...front tire slid and buckled on itself. I fell to the side. Landed wrong and ended up with a level 3 AC joint separation (Clavicle / shoulder blade). I completely tore 3 tendons. As with you, they said surgery would not help anything heal any faster than leaving it alone. It took 10 months for me to be able to start riding again. But I am old and healing is slow. Hope your recovery is a little faster.

@@bikesbrewsbasecamp dude for real! But on a positive note, I’m not scared of the trail I wrecked on. Like if I died on some crazy feature I think I would be, so I’m excited to get on that trail again!
I feel your pain. Just recovered from shoulder surgery and started riding again after 9 months off the bike. Six weeks into riding pulled a lower back muscle because I was to proud to ask for help lifting something heavy. Don't be like me 😊. A good PT person will have you back to 100% in no time. Your videos inspire me to ride! Looking forward to seeing more.
@@PitDaddy aw wow nine months off! But you are proving it just takes time to get back at it. Definitely nervous to build my confidence back up but I’m excited to stick with the process of healing.

Best wishes for a full recovery! I am dealing with a similar situation now. I can say it is worth taking the time you need to recover and that PT is definitely worth it. It’s hard being off the bike but it’s worth the comeback being even stronger than before.

If you are judging Bentonville and Trestle JUST by the trails (which is an injustice to B-ville) then yeah I can kind of agree with you. I just rode Trestle for the 1st time last week and have been to B-ville a couple dozen times. Will say this, in B-ville it's easy to session a jump or section that is just beyond your reach, has oxygen and is cheap/free. Trestle has uninterrupted elevation, low humidity and epic views.
@@onlysendsmtb ok that’s so true, Bville has really unmatched vibes and the integration of trails throughout the town is so unique! Yeah I was thinking just of the really well taken care of flow trails and how they are similar in that regard!

Sick ride Amanda!! I love doing big climbs and longer rides these days. I just turned 40 and want to remain in good shape and health. Obviously descending & just being outdoors in nature is the fun part, but I've been getting more out of longer rides. I try and do one shorter ride a week about 10-12, then one between 13-18 and one over 20. I honestly don't really train for anything. It just feels good to be in good shape & getting outside away from the city & people is good medicine for my head. I've thought about doing races but can never bring myself to do it, I just like to ride. I dont enjoy climbing the road much I like being in the trees so I climb up from Sulphur Canyon area and theres a couple different trails I take up depending on how much I wana suffer. lol. I gotta figure out a calorie/carb mix like you. I ditched buying liquid IVs & ELMNT because of price and started doing my own SeaSalt with Crystal light for flavor which has been doing the trick, but eating too much or certain things to get carbs makes my stomache feel crappy when riding, so I gotta figure something else out instead of GU which I feel helps me a lot. Anyways great videos, nice to see someone local sharing videos of our awesome local trails, theres really not many if anyone around here that does. I love the Sandias so much, they are underrated. Sorry for my super long comment, I'm bored off my ass trying to stay entertained until all these symptoms go away & can get out to the trails. @@2Philthy oh no I’m sad to hear you are sick! I’m also stuck at home with a busted up leg, so I appreciate your long comment LOL. Yeah I can’t believe how complicated the fueling part of long rides can be, especially when it’s hot out! I’m really bummed I had to take a hard stop with training this summer, but I know I’ll come back stronger and continue to learn. I think I’m going to make a video making my carb mix just to share for anyone who is curious! I went that way to save money and I’m pretty happy with its performance, my stomach issues in this video was interesting but they ended up being minor, luckily.

Yep you are totally correct! They are really high up on the tree, definitely meant for XC skiing :D While I was riding I was just being snarky and confused lol

about the olympia lift elevation: Winter Park has something like 25 lifts and only 3 run in the summer. Panoramic only runs during winter and takes you up to 12,060 feet and the bowl. I've been dreaming of a trail descending from Pano for years.

I’ve only been to Bentonville once and Trestle once but I can see your analogy of the two places. The big thing that both share is that you can stay on the trails all day. You can take the gondola up at Trestle and stay up on the mountain all day if you wanted to. I would take the gondola up at opening and ride till lunch then take the gondola back up and ride until closing. Basically only coming back down to the Trestle village once the whole day. You can do the same at Bentonville on the trail system. My favorite park is Angel Fire but it is an up and down affair all day.
@@JamesLG4 yes that’s a great way to put it! We rode over 40 miles the first day and were so surprised at how great we felt. Everything was so smooth and built so well, it was hard to get tired!

@@gaberomero1740 oh amazing! I definitely thought that was a new alternate down - I did like it a little more than tree spring, I can’t wait to get on it again!
Been riding Oso Corredor and Tree Spring since about 2006/7ish back in my XC days on a HT. Crashed a few times on Tree Spring going up and down; also gotta watch out for hikers as it is a super popular trail with them. Oso use to be a solid blue trail, don't know about now. Also the trail was named due to many bear sightings before it was built. The bike/chairlift symbol on the sign was for the ski area before they took down lift #1 when they rebuilt the restaurant Ten 3; the lift was too close to the construction area and they never put it back up when it was finished.

The blue diamonds are "blazes" to mark cross country ski trails in the winter. That's why they are placed high up in the tree trees.
