I would hate to: mow the lawn with those steps
Why? 🤣 It’s the exact same method as any other lawn; ‘push the mower, pull back the mower, move the next step’
I’m in the process of planning to build one and your style is exactly what I had in mind. 3 years on, is there anything you’d do differently and are you happy with the results still?
I hugely admire the planning, as well as the quality and quantity of work that went into this. But grass? You must really love mowing. And I notice you didn't mow the grass steps -- what's going to happen to those? Weren't there alternatives, not more hardscape, but something that isn't as much work as grass? Anyway, if you're going to have grass, kudos for growing it from seed (apparently) rather than using grass sod (I hope that word is ok with this meaning in the UK).
What is wrong with Grass? It doesn’t take much maintenance. The grass steps do get mowed, just for filming purposes in this small window of clips it wasn’t shown. In the UK it’s called turf but do know what you mean.
Bravo
Just discovered your page. Very informative! one thing you don’t mention is structural engineers or council costs.. do you not need to ask permission from the council to excavate the levels this low? And get engineers to calculate retaining walls?
There is good information online on such sites as the ‘interactive planning permission’ website which gives guidance on when permission is required. In my instance this wasn’t required. Yes retaining walls should be calculated in my opinion to ensure the land it’s retaining is suitable.
from some nature to absolutely none. well done, gluesniffer.
Clearly hasn’t watched the video in full or taken in any detail of any part that was watched 🤦🏽♂️. That makes you having any right to be abusive and comment, to be zero!!! You wasted energy that you didn’t need to 🙁 such a shame!!!
Are the real wood or faux wood and did you need to email them to get a pelmet the length of the door?
How to contact you, I have exactly same issue with my garden :(
Looks really good mate well done, Iv also got a roller petrol mower Iv just bought. I’m having trouble with the front wheels flattening the grass before the blade hits it After it’s been cut it’s leaving uncut lines from the wheels. Any advice is appreciated
Hi. Just found your video. Garden is lovely by the way! Ive just jet washed my indian sandstone backgarden, its been down a few years now and the grout joining it has come up quite a lot. I need to re-grout some areas. Now my first question does this stuff that you used go hard? If so how long does that take? Seems strange that it goes hard from being loose without adding anything.
Hi, Thankyou, yes this goes hard, I cant recall how long but want to say 12 hours. It arrives in a vacuum bag sealed, so it doesn’t set as its a resin type product. If you have some left over you can store it in water but if i remember correctly not for very long. Very good product, I clean my patio yearly and just done it for the fourth time and hardly any has come out. Id recommend pressing it into the gap.
Terrific 🤩
£18500 🎉 party time for the suppliers.
Party time for all, I was happy with the price, the installer was and I assume the suppliers of the equipment was also. Very competitive for the equipment at the time of install.
£700 for some plastic trims for bird protection?!
…and of course the time taken to install and the business overheads.
Bhai Hikvision cc camera installed in my shop. Now if there is no current, if the main line (shop) is off, will it be recorded?
I’m mid-way through redecorating my entire home, which has/had coving in every single room. My wife decided she wanted it all removed, then the walls plastered, then new coving put on. I assumed it would be a simple job but it’s turned out to be one of the biggest ball ache diy jobs I’ve ever done. As others have suggested, make sure you take time to prep, it pays dividends in the end. Stanley blade the top and bottom of the coving, use a sharp tool (I went with a wooden handled scraper which had a metal head) and hammer into the top and bottom all the way around, and for the large part, it will come off in long pieces. Good luck to anyone else undertaking this horrible job.
8 mp camera makes white look cloudy best 5mp
No it doesn’t.
A locksmith fitted this lock for me after an attempted break-in. He didn't change the door handle, though. Does this mean my door still isn't secure ? Can these locks be snapped as easily as others ?
Not necessarily, yes the 3 star locks can be snapped, but the mechanism goes in to “lockdown” as such, and the thief’s are unable to unlock it, like they would a normal lock. It just means you would have to buy a new lock if it happened, but they wouldn’t get in with that method of break in.
Beautiful!
Wow‼️
Nothing at all wrong with this method if strong enough to lift that much. Never knew about those silicone seal things - very useful! No need to change olive if you are using the same fitting, should go back without a problem. If in doubt add a bit of joint compound on the interior edge (fitting side, not nut side) of the olive. Wont matter if you get joint compound on other bits, just doesn't do anything. Should note that its common to find valves that use an o-ring too which might need replacing. You have to look closely at the fitting before you take it apart - you will see the fitting shape and maybe absence of visible threads than on a compression fitting. Setting the lockshields/ balancing is to ensure all the radiators heat evenly, which can be a problem on branching systems but not so much on manifold which is often the method used with the 10mm plastic pipe. Bit untidy the way they did the connections behind the radiator. Usually better to do a single run with no extra joints and put a plate over the hole.
Agreed with last statement, unfortunately builder and first fix plumber were very poor throughout
What about using a wallpaper steamer or water spray with a bit of washing up liquid to reduce the dust and help soften the coving adhesive.
What happens with the G99 application. Do you tell them what inverter you are going for or do they just simply say yes/no and another limit/ceiling is set for what size you can have?
I cant remember exactly the forms, but we had to notify the DNO about the inverter being bigger than 3.78kwh (or whatever the limit is), then they can assess local infrastructure to see if it is suitable for anything bigger. I was advised, if it isn’t then the export would just need limiting.
Very informative video. Do you have figures re the max charge rate of SolarEdge 400v? Data sheet says 5kw but I assume it’s only discharge. Thanks
5kw both charge and dis charge
Great video thanks for your time mate 😊
Hi mate, do you have a picture of the under sink clips used to secure this sink to the worktop please? I’ve recently brought this sink but the clips provided do not match the ones highlighted on the installation manual. Thanks in advance!
Hi, Under I don’t, we haven’t lived at that house for over 4 years either. Sorry.
Great video these texecom systems have had very positive reviews. Its all great a home being covered in pir motion sensors but the intruder has entered the home for them to be activated. Shock sensors on doors and windows are even better as the alarm is going off before the intruder has entered the premises. If a trip switch or shock sensor fails then yes you have your pir sensors as a back up. Texecom also do wireless pir sensors which is also great so you can add more upstairs or in your garage and theres no wires to be fed into the loft etc or for people that want pir sensors but dont want to have their floor boards and carpets lifted up.
Spent 1.5k on 15x 450w panels, 1.3k on a 6kw inverter hybrid on/off grid inverter that does a little more than what your 2 or three pices of equipment do. 1300 on a 7.5kw lithium battery. So approx 5k for equipment including cables and supports etc. Installation and certification 1k. Where I live the aystem anticipates historically enough sun to generate 10,200 kwh. Sunny where we live. Downside is generating companies only give you a monthly credit against any excess generation you put into the grid. Plus standing charges still apply and excess generation cannot be credited against them. Euros not pounds. Could have got a 70% grant against installation costs but probably would have to wait several yearscto get it back and probably pay 6k as against 1k. (90% of installation done by myself). 1k for wiring and certification.
In the interest of being constructive and assisting those wondering how your system differs for a direct comparison. - what country are you in? England isn’t Euro’s so assume Ireland or other. - what equipment did you purchase - As in brand and models? - What is the warranties that are included on those? - Does that equipment have the ability to be dc coupled? - What safety features does that system have, such as the solaredge being able to cut the voltage to the panels in the event of issues, like with optimisers, which you also haven’t mentioned whether you have. - Who certified a self installed solar pv system? Separate question, why is credit a bad thing for export generation?
@@DIYJourney1 Hi, I live in Spain. The main equipment I bought is the following. Risen monocrytaline panels RSM144-7-450M 450W. These were bought from an up market B&Q called Leroy Merlin and have a 20 year warranty. One that I wouldn't worry about. Growatt on/off line hybrid inverter via Alibaba. An SPH3000-6000 BL-UP. A 5 year warranty 10 year optional. WiFi It has 2 x MPP trackers 1 string per tracker. DC switch Reverse polarity protection AC/DC surge protection Battery reverse protection AC short circuit protection Ground fault monitor Grid monitor Anti islanding protection? ( No idea what that is to be honest.) Residual current monitoring. Insulation resistance monitoring. UPS No optimisers, other than what is built into the inverter system. Battery are three Growatt 2.56kw stackable batteries with BMS monitoring, system voltage, current, cell voltage, cell temp, PCBA air temp etc. and trip. Also purchased via Alibaba. The above are all CE certificated IEC62109, VDE0126... Site is a flat roof terrace with access via stairs. 9m x 9m, no shade issues. I did the physical installation of the panels (not wiring). Built the support framework. Built a store for the inverter and Battery etc. All on the roof, directly above the main electrical boxes to the house. 2.5m below the storage. Concrete walls and steel door. Wiring connections, runs and paperwork to connect to grid etc. All carried out by a Spanish registered electrician. Question on the credit. In Spain credit is on a month to month basis, nothing is carried over, so I will input around 2000 kwh for no payment or credit. I am not and do not profess to be an electrician and wouldn't touch any of the actual electrical work, I am however adept at many jack of all trade work as I was self employed for 15 plus years here in Spain.
Thankyou for the response, hopefully that helps gives context as to the cost difference.
@@DIYJourney1 I could have bought the same inverter locally for 2.5k euros and a 3 year warranty. So I don't mind buying direct.
2024 12 panels 430w. Hybrid inverter and battery after grant 7500e. That’s the answer without BS
So many variables to your generic non-constructive comment: What grant? What inverter? What panels? Where? What BS?
If your patio is in any kind of damp climate don't use this stuff - it is a breeding ground for algae and moss because it's so porous after it dries - my lovely cream porcelain patio is now mostly GREEN only 1 year after grouting with Rompox. I'm going to have to grind it out and redo with mortar in a couple of months when the weather dries up. Aaaagggh.
Anything in a damp climate will go get moss. That’s where moss grows.
@@DIYJourney1 What I'm saying is that this stuff encourages much more moss/algae growth than cement mortar. Suit yourself if you prefer to use it but I think people should be warned. I wish I had been.
It’s a sensible balance of suitability, I personally wanted the porous nature so that any frozen water didn’t crack the likes of mortar, which for example in our situation, id much rather be able to simply clean moss than have to replace cracked mortar. It’s difficult to give a one stop fix for all eventualities and as such shouldn’t be solely relied upon.
What’s the blue machine around 4:40 - 5:00 ?

Great video. Would be good to find out how you got on last year with your solar setup... Any plans for an update? thanks
Hi, No immediate plans, but would like to give an update if I can at some point. Below is an overview: We produced 5.71mwh Exported 1.9mwh @ 15p/kwh = £285ish Stored in the battery - 1.52mwh
@@DIYJourney1Looking forward to an update as well. 😊👍
Nice Video! Not too long, with clear and honest explanation! I thought IR would be the right solution - same case than you, full black mode, but was hesitating with colorvu. really happy you made this vid! It helps me to pick the right one! 🙂
Bravo sir
Thanks for the video, intresting, but I'm non of the wiser now what to go for 😂
Truly believe battery storage is the way forward and in most cases, especially in the winter. Would be good to see a follow up video showing your generation over the last year and how you faired last winter.
2023 - We produced 5.71mwh Exported 1.9mwh @ 15p/kwh = £285ish Stores in the battery - 1.52mwh You’re correct, a battery is essential.
Did you find it quite easy to use the mini digger? I'm wanting to clear the site and do the footings on a self build project myself.
Yes, like riding a bike. Once you get the hang of the controls after 20-30mins, your away
Top notch great job
you did a grand job there but with all that lawn area, why the lady didnt have some raised beds made up so she could grow veg, herbs, etc in them. all that money to have to spend more time on cutting it, when you could save money growing food thats a rip off in the supermarkets. this is what i always encourage when i do gardens. growing spaces.
Who is the lady you mention? I assume you just commented and didn’t watch the video, to see the vast amounts of raised beds 🤦🏽♂️🤣
what size are the pink chippings please?
20mm From here: (not an AD I bought ours) www.stones4homes.co.uk/product/rosa-milano-20mm/
Wet the remaining adhesive and it will just fall off - saves all the sanding and scraping
Hey! I’ve got so much remaining adhesive hanging on at the moment. How do you apply the water? If you could give me some more information that creates less dust that would be great!
I know it's rwo years later BUT, running some sort of dust extraction on any sander makes the job a hel of a lot easier and cleaner ......... but it makes a battery powered sander pretty pointless. These days, i don't run a sander without a vac connected
Ps: loving the way you've dealt with some of the comments on here.🤭 Honestly, some people ...🤦♀️
Such a transformation! Love the clean, modern but practical look of your new garden.👌🏾👏🏾👏🏾 How is it a year on? That's quite a hill so can appreciate the consideration put into drainage. Looking forward to your planting video. Those stumps can be made into great sculptures or perhaps a stumpery? Q: Where's the clothes line?
Thankyou, the garden is now 2 years on and still great usable space. The clothes line is placed at the top of the grass steps for access purposes
Absolutely stunning!!
Try 60fps instead of 30fps. Literally twice the visual data, and a massive improvement in quality.
The video has done okay as it is, thankyou.
So does this system mean you have no energy bills at all?? Do you run your entire house for free???
Yes, in the summer months we earn about £100-£140 too for exporting electricity back to the grid
@@DIYJourney1 thank you for replying!!! Very interesting post👍
