      This list only covers NTSC games and Tomba isn't really worth much in NA. But you're right if this was a PAL top 10 then Tombi would definitely be up there.

    Licensed games can really be hit or miss, usually miss since they're often just quick cash grabs and not a lot of effort or care is put into them. It's no surprise so many of them would be in the lowest ranked. Also, I definitely like the rank cards as a full screen between the entries rather than super tiny in the corner. With the PSP being region free (as many handhelds were) it would be cool to see a list of games that never came to the US. Off the top of my head I know Breath of Fire 3 got a neat PSP port in Europe we never got (sadly the port of 4 never left Japan and an RPG is pretty hard to play if you don't read Japanese).

    • @supergameghost
      @supergameghost Před 25 dny

      Thanks for the input! Yeah, still experimenting with the rank cards. I kind of like that they aren't taking up an entire few seconds of fullscreen, but you're right about the size. Pacing is kind of off too.

    I do think that is kinda overrated in terms of "score", sorry but it doesnt come close to the base game. It has a lot of cool things: legacy dungeos, art style, new items, a few bosses and IGON. But the world feels so empty and boring to explore, it's such a let down for me. 3/4 of the map is just...nothing. I really think that it didnt need to be THIS BIG. Other thing that i didnt like at all was the scadutree fragment, and sure they needed to balance the expansion, but leveling the characters with finite items was not the right call at all IMO. And the other big issue are the boss fights. I think i only enjoyed 3 main bosses: rellana, messmer and bayle. All the other bosses were such a tedious task to learn the mechanics. And im just like you, im an average player that summons a lot. I did like the expansion and im glad that i bought it...but i dont think im going to do another run.

Elden ring base game classes are playing dark souls 3. elden ring DLC weapon classes (minus great katana) are playing something else entirely. they do not blend with the game even if I do like some of them. I hate Radahn, I've hated radahn for along time.seeing him again made me hate him more. lets hope next time they don't fumble so fucking badly I find it extremely funny the final boss is just "remember demon's souls? remember all those gimmick fights? yeah lets do that again for the FINAL ELDEN RING BOSS" the gimmick being if you use a shield it's piss easy, if you don't fuck you basically

I'm having a blast figuring out the bosses, elarning how they work and coming up with strategies. I felt so fulfilled after beating messmer i stopped playing for thatday even if i could have kept going just this weekend. And that's the third time i've felt that way with the bosses with rellana and dancing lion being the others, putrecent knight almost gave me that high. I think the bosses aren’t too hard (other than Radahn who has bad hitboxes, this is literal fact look it up) and the aggression of the bosses. I feel like you get little to no time to recover or heal before the boss starts another combo. And the last thing is scadutree fragments. They’re lazy but they work well enough. My issue with them however is that there are an exact amount of them in a game. I believe there should be more than you need so that if you miss one it doesn’t mean you can’t max out.

    Agree with your take on difficulty - it's not that much harder than the base game (apart from Radahn) - but Radahn is much easier if you are willing to swap build and use a shield. Malenia however requires learning the fight - she's a bit harder to cheese. The low level smithing stones make a lot of sense to me and I was grateful for them! I had Started NG+ immediately after beating the game, and all of my smithing stone bell bearings were lost. They released an update after this that made those bell bearings carry over to NG+, but since I had already started NG+ I didn't have them. On re-using Radahn - I get it. But I was actually quite glad to see him 'at his prime' - the fight in Caelid seemed a bit sad and him riding his tiny horse was comical but undermined him in my opinion.

  • @CreativeUsername1997
    @CreativeUsername1997 Před měsícem

    I have no qualification whatsoever but I kinda wanted to give my two sense on some of the criticism that this dlc has been getting, and why I think people are being a bit too harsh. 1. The difficulty Though I would like to view myself as being pretty good a video games in general, I’m a stranger to the souls born series. Elden ring was my first game and I only played it because of the dlc. Going into the dlc I was (and probably still am) a baby to the genre, one who’s only souls like experience was playing through the game once with summons and with the most busted weapons I heard about online. Yet for some reason despite all this I was still able to get through bosses pretty quickly while challenging myself without using summons. I honestly don’t know how or why this is, why am I enjoying myself while all the soulsborn addicts (not an insult) are getting frustrated with overblown damage, low attack windows, etc. I think I agree with your point about builds, and how people were unwilling to switch. The dlc offers a lot of powerful weapons such as the backhand blade that I used. That mixed with scadutree blessings mean that you scale with the dlc. It is harder than the base game because you are meant to be tougher than the base game. I can see how people who don’t experiment with builds or play extremely blind could get mad that their build isn’t working, and blame it on the dlc itself. But other than that I really can’t give any other reason than just “getting good”. I know it’s a terrible take, but I really do think that the dlc doesn’t pose that many challenges that can’t be handled with practice and persistence. It took me an hour+ to beat fights usually but I rarely felt that it was the games fault. There are a few exceptions, like phase 2 radahn and a couple attacks with really tight roll timing, but for the most part the dlc was balanced. Explore more weapon builds, use your items that you’ve been saving all game, and get your scadutree blessing up. If you want boss fights that manage to challenge the player in new ways whilst also not being hard, you get more Margott, who will hit you a bunch with fast and complicated attacks but will never deal enough damage to be much of a threat. Even if I love his fight, I don’t want more Margott. I want the good fights to last longer. I want to get stuck on a boss so I can play more of one of my favorite games. I think that might be a main appeal of sekiro. Or I could be 100% wrong. 2. Reuse No, just no. The three cases where this argument can be brought up can just be disproven through simple logic. With the basic enemies, do you really want from soft to design another basic boring enemy with maybe two attacks that will just die in one hit, or would you like them to instead allocate their time and resources towards the boss fights that you guys like complaining so much about, or the weapons and equipment that you guys can experiment with, or the world and map that you paid $40 for. This is just such a random argument. If anything I would prefer having enemies that I’m familiar with in filler locations because at the very least that gives me a sense of comfort. The land of shadow is not completely separate from the lands between, and it takes time and effort just to make more filler enemies that from likely does not have. the next case is the hippos and furnace golems, which are repeated a few times in the dlc. Honestly I’m fine with this as well. Having an enemy that you can easily associate with an award (golem to tears and hippos to scadutree blessings), allow you to have a better sense of the world around you. Same thing applies in the base game with tree spirits and those guys who hang out at minor erdtrees that i forgot the name of. And finally with radahn. I absolutely love this guy so I’m honestly biased. Both fights that I’ve had with him have resulted in some of the most heart racing and adrenaline filled attempts of the entire game. Not even some of. Beating this guys both times has quite literally been my favorite part of this game. And while I can see why someone would want Godwyn or Miquella, my one sole counterpoint is that the radahn fight is just fun. Plain fun. And you want to know why it doesn’t keep being fun in phase 2, because miquella shows up. If you want a fight just against him, be my guest and make it yourself, because after all the complaints I don’t think From is ever going to make it for you. Since all we really have for godwyn is speculation, I can’t say if his moveset would be more or less fun than radahn’s, which in my eyes is a high bar to reach. So in that case I’m just going to move on from that. I can also understand why someone people may be mad that radahn is reused, considering the fact he was one of the few fights in the base game to not get reused, a main problem of Elden ring. But radahn in the base game and radahn in the dlc are very different. They are definitely similar (which leads back to that tangent about familiarity that I was talking about), but they aren’t the same fight. The removal of radahn’s horse (that he, FuN fAcT, lEaRnEd GrAvItY mAgIc To KeEp because the horse couldn’t handle his weight) really does change a lot about how the fight plays, and I think it’s fantastic. 3. Boss quality Idk why but I’ve seen a lot of soulsborn fans absolutely dunking on some of the bosses. A lot of them are complaining about delayed attacks, unreactable start up times, weird timings. And while I can see this happening in the base game after it being spelled out to me, that claim is pretty questionable in the dlc. A lot of people say a boss with a big weapon will start off with an attack with an unnaturally long delay, and then proceed to send out a flurry of fast attacks, such as hoarah loux, godrick, valiant gargoyles, etc. I agree that in the base game, these design choices are a pressing issue that seem like an artificial way to add difficulty. When the game chooses to mess with your senses it becomes a game of memorization of all the bosses attacks rather than a natural dance between you and your enemy. You can’t enter a flow state when this is happening. But for the dlc this just didn’t happen. I entered that flow state so many times and it’s one of the main reasons it was so enjoyable. Rellana, messmer, midra, bayle, phase 1 radahn, all great fights that never betrayed me or deceived me. What you saw was what you got. Some people are saying those problems from the base game are 10x worse in the dlc, while I just can’t agree with them at all. meanwhile the bosses were all so visually gorgeous and cinematic. Phase two rellana and the phase switch, midra’s music, atmosphere, and general movements, bayle for obvious reasons. I mean even some of the weaker bosses like gaius and the the really weak rot lady I forgot the name of (edit: romina) had undoubtably epic fights and peak designs. This college thesis I just dropped in your comment section is honestly so long I should probably mention the fact I never prepared a conclusion or outro. So uh… NERF IMPENETRABLE THORNS MY GOD CUUUURSEEEEEEE YOUUUUUUUU FROMSOFT!!!! 0/10 Enjoyed every second. (Except phase 2 radahn) Edit: they nerfed impenetrable thorns 😎 I also forgot to mention all the smithing stones you get. While I found it to be slightly annoying at times, I can’t really think of anything they could have put in their stead other than more crafting materials, which the dlc already does a pretty good job of providing. Once I beat the dlc and starting considering new builds I could use for my new game plus run, I noticed I had collected tens, maybe even hundreds of thousands of runes worth of smithing stones, likely due to the dlc, that I would have to of grinded for if I wanted to get via bell bearings. Speaking of bell bearings, now might be a good time to mention that a lot of them are pretty well hidden. Someone who played the game completely blind may not have noticed some of the really well hidden caves that they reside in. Thinking about it through a different person’s point of view really does make light of how useful the handout smithing stones are, especially with how limited of an amount there are in the base game.
