I was in a car accident in 2020 and broke my back. I had to get a spinal fusion from T10-L2 with 2 rods and 10 screws. Fast forward 3/12 years… I’m experiencing excruciating pain. My T10 screw is coming lose since the bone never fused correctly. On top of that my s1 joint is inflamed. I get my injection for my s1 joint at the end of the month. Then I will have to get my T10 bone and screw resolved. Wish me luck! Thank you for your video and knowledge😀

Wow! I am so glad for you, as my injury came at work outside my job description. I fix cars, period. But the boss, in 1986, who spent 3-4 months trying to hire me away from a shop 3 blocks away, lead to the is farm boy, age 28 operating a rented earth compaction machine that looked dry, but turned to mud. 5hrs latter after pulling this "Jumping Jack" out of mud, to a new location my back was sore. Shut it off drove home, told my wife and drank a beer with a Tylenol and went to sleep. Waking in the AM what felt like the worst sunburn ever. But not a sunburn as it was torn muscle tissue turned to scar tissue. 3 surgeries later, ending in a bone fusion of S1-L4, my Dr. pulled a chair and told me I could expect pain when older as arthritis starts to set in. Boy he was right in 1987. Now RFA, epidural injections, two more fusions, I was burning at 6'3" just to get tools from top drawer. Run to chair and sit. So SCS from Medtronics! Trail was great with 60-70% pain relief. Only epidural's lasted 1 1/2 days, then burning came back. Permanent implant came quick and once on, it went down both legs into my heels. Whoops! The Rep. called, I told him and things got quiet. A third attempt came 5 months later, nothing on the left, 2" away on the right and still use a cane to walk bent. The had an engineer move the stimulus but no go. Sending an email to say they could no longer be of help! Have a good life! What? I have seen 4-5 videos where the wake the patient in O.R. and the rep tries generic signals letting them reply for location. Everyone is different but they couldn't understand why I wanted this. God it was painful to lay there awake while sewing me up. No one understood! The Dr. won't even return calls. Then 20hrs of Ketamine I.V. drip out of pocket, nothing. Then todays current opioid scare, took mine away while still in pain & my GP dropped me after 27yrs. with a new pain center. Now I call in Rx and see them once every 3 months. I am put on the North 40, expected to shut up and go away! No help... I am stunned. Can mow, garden, cook, drive, work on cars, showers are hard and no opioids. This sucks.

Had my intrathecal morphine injection trial 5/9/24 and a couple hours later I felt ZERO pain. I suffer from protruded discs & nerve impingement & post laminectomy syndrome. Had my laminectomy done on my L4/L5/S1 3 years ago and it lasted about 14 months & scar tissue from that surgery enhanced itself & started to wrap around my L5/S1 nerve root, pinching my nerve root, as well as that same disc starting to bulge ontop of it. Had a spinal cord stimulator trial for about a week a month before my pain pump trial that gave me no relief whatsoever. Later that same day as my pain pump trial, (5/9/24) unfortunately I suffered from urinary retention & needed to go to ER to have a bladder catheter inserted in me to drain my bladder. Ended up going home with it that night, but ended up taking the catheter out myself shortly after I got home because there was a draining issue/blockage & I was pissing outside of the catheter all over myself. As the morphine wore off the next day, my bladder function started to normalize again. My pain doctor who did the trial said it’s one of the possible side effects but he thinks it would eventually go away on its own if I decided to get the permanent device. Had to wait for my insurance company for the approval of the actual device. But I told my doctor I still wanted to go ahead & move forward in getting it because that’s the 1st time in 20 years that I’ve ever had pain relief like that! Just got the call today from my pain doctor (6/25/24) that my insurance approved it & I immediately scheduled to get the surgery this Thursday (6/27/24). I cannot wait to get that pain relief again! I’ve been on Percocet & Gabapentin for the past 2 years with little to no effect. I’ll keep my fingers crossed that I don’t experience the urinary retention again, or if I do, it’ll only be temporary.. It’s a trade-off/risk I’m willing to take for this kind of pain relief. I’ll update my results after my surgery to let everyone know how it’s going. Good luck to anyone getting this surgery!

I had a bilateral ablation on May 1st of this year. It was lumbar and three on each side. The three on the right side were completely painless. As was the lower one on the left side. The center and top left hurt like I've never felt before. My Dr had to use an additional 4 Lidocaine injections just to able to finish. I don't think i will ever do this again. I trust my Dr and shecis extremely attentive. I have five different conditions in my lumbar area. This helped maybe two of them. I was out for five days after the procedure due to being in pain. I was out of work last week four out of five days with severe pain. My Dr is very concerned that i didn't get as much relief as she had hoped. She now ordered a new set of X-rays to see if anything else is going on.

I’m thinking if any half of these side effects are true, why do people choose to get a pain pump? I honestly cannot justify myself having this surgery if all these side effects ( to the drugs used in the pump) are true even though they are getting pain relief? It’s just plain wrong in my opinion

@@JakkleRunnerCashman-mk8jm It’s been 19 days since getting my pump. I am extremely pleased with the results. I’ve had 2 visits with the doctor. The first was one week after surgery to remove the staples from my back. The second was today for a slight increase in my dosage. I’m happy to report that I’m getting just barely over 0.5 milligrams of morphine every 24 hours and my pain level is less than 1!! My worst pain during these first 19 days has been around the incision in my left abdomen where the pump was placed. Fortunately, that pain is down to about a 2 now. I have 30 more days of wearing the abdominal binder and maybe will wear it for another week or two to make sure the pump has scarred in really good. I haven’t had any issues or side effects with the pump or medication. I am following my doctors’ instructions closely, yes, I had my pain doctor and a general surgeon do my implant. Pain doctor placed the catheter and general surgeon placed the pump. Knowing what I know now, I wish I had gotten a pain pump years ago.

@@nil2thebrain Thanks for asking! I’m pretty much back to square one right now, meaning I feel like trash. The trial only lasted 5 days instead of 7 as one of the leads came out & I got a massive shock on the side where it was still attached. So I had to turn it off earlier, but I did get some relief out of it. It’s a little hard to judge because it took about 2 days for the horrible pain to go away from the lead insertion (I have a ridiculous amount of weird health issues & it takes me forever to heal, so even from that little amount I was in excruciating pain.) Once that eased up I definitely had relief but then it cut out so I don’t know if I would have had more. I’ve got up to 6 months to decide if I want to go through with the surgery or not but I have some reservations & am trying to find out if anyone with my genetic disorder had it done, & if so how it went. I don’t know what I was expecting but it literally feels like a TENS unit but underneath your skin. It’s worth doing the trial, especially if you’re having trouble lessening your pain with traditional methods.

had a MBA (high frequency) yesterday. I was the Drs last procedure of the day. While in the waiting room prior to procedure, he walked to me without a greeting to mark my back. I could see he was in a bad mood. Once wheeled in, he again did not greet me like he had during the prior two diagnostic procedures. I could see his agitation while he fumbled at untying knotted up wires. During the beginning of the ablation I began to first get very dizzy to almost faint, than my speech became slow, jumbled and slurred, stroke-like. I sounded drunk. I got scared but he never reassured me. What the heck caused that?? I was later told it was a normal side effect by the nurse who wheeled me out. Speech slowly resolved over a period of 45min. Other bizarre, unexpected, and not explained things happened during the procedure. I got intense rapid shock-like spasms in my lower back & butt and my arms began to spasm and twitch. He only asked and seemed satisfied that my feet and legs were not spasming. I realize Drs are human and have bad days but damn.

Still i would say it is highly uncomfortable versus the horrible pain some people have described. I have had multiple ablations done over the years on 12 nerves. 3 on each side of the lower back and 3 on each SI Joint. The test procedure hurts more than the ablation. For the ablation, i have been given IV Xanax. I have a fantastic Doctor and staff.

Will not go into the specifics of the lack of response from the doctor who performed the surgery but a hospital stay was able to get me out of immmediat distress. A VERY GOOD PA was able to help me out with determing what was going on. Comparing pre op xrays and CTs he has determined half.of.my right lung is no functionimg . He researched and determined it may be necessary to have a surgeon go in and perform repair/ pressure release surgery on that chest nerve We are not able to locate a surgeon that can perform this surgery. @@gavinwarner3301 It went ok but I had sedation and pain medicine for the procedure. It helped but definitely wasn’t like this guy. Makes me wonder how real this video is.

@cassandra9836 My doctor only told me that I would receive local anesthesia for this procedure. Should I be advocating for sedation?

My Doctor said I would receive local anesthesia for this procedure. Do you think I should be advocating for sedation?

I had a lot of success with this procedure on my L5S1 and L4S2. I didn’t do the sedation but I did squeeze the stress ball they gave me 😆 My team was amazing. They would have music on and would include me in the daily gossip to help keep me focused away from the pressure. The pain is pretty quick, most of the time is spent getting everything in position. I did it about once a year for 10 years. The first couple years we would have to go back in after maybe 6 months but I would be pain free in between shots if I was careful. Sometimes i would only get a facet injection the 2nd time. It took playing around until we found the right pattern. I definitely didn’t go back to school after it though. My dad would take me out to the diner nearby after to eat and then I was in bed with ice for the rest of the day. I am SO thankful these helped for so long. I did end up having to get a laminectomy and discectomy in 2021 but it was a blessing. We always knew these were bandaids and we didn’t expect them to work as long as they did. Sending my love to everyone trying to find some relief 💕

Just want to add after reading comments because If I had never gotten this procedure and then read these comments I’d be terrified! My experience was not at all like the comments. I never got the sedation because I was so desperate to just get on the table as fast as possible and have them do the procedure to get pain relief from my back. The pain during the procedure is mainly a pressure. You don’t feel the nerves being burned at all. You just feel the numbing shot which isn’t fun but is fine. It’s a thin sharp sting. The worst part for me is them getting to the nerve. The pressure pain feels easier for me to deal with then the disc pain but I definitely had to breath through it. I had a stress ball in each hand that I squeezed, and I usually needed to squeeze my eyes shut and let out a “eeeuumm” pain whine at the end of this part. They prep you with “okay, you’re going to feel pressure, I’m going to need you to be still and focus on breathing.” Then they talk you through it. “Okay, 1, 2, pressure-pressure-pressure…..good job you’re doing great…(the assistants are chatting at this point and include me in conversation in a way that I can talk if I want to or I can stay quiet and focus) breath, a little more pressure Chelsea…relax your back, nice we’re almost done. Pressure, (this is about the time a whine comes out of me as I feel the pressure and am really hoping we are almost done because the idea of doing this for another couple minutes feels overwhelming) breath, good! Pressure for one more second we’re almost done-almost done. Goood! Exhale. You did great Chel! You’re going to feel my fingers, I’m just moving you this way a little and I’m going to get us set up for the next one, no pain.” And then the pressure part repeats if you have multiple spots it needs to be done. I can’t remember for the life of me how long the pressure part is. My guess is 10 minutes but it probably feels longer than it actually is.

How did it go? Have you had the Implant? Feeling any better or worse? Any unwanted side effects? Any nice side effects you were hoping for?

How’d everyone do? I’ve had a pump for 4 years and helped to replace some of the pain since the government took away my oral medication.
