Something does not quite ring true, where did that shovel suddenly appear from, it did not seem to be in his pack?
That's down to your extremely poor powers of observation and lack of attention to detail. If you were paying attention at the 0:12 second mark, you'd have noticed the handle of the shovel poking out the lefthand end of his blue sleeping mat. It was the very first thing that got my attention.
