This is extremely out of my comfort zone, but it's something I’ve been wanting to do for about two years. I created a triathlon CZcams channel, and this is my first video. I love watching triathlon CZcams, and I’m so inspired by all the pros and fast age groupers who have awesome channels and put out amazing content, but none of them look like me. No worries, you'll get the next one. The fact that you made the swim, made the bike, and ultimately pulled off on the run means you certainly have it in you to complete the race.

    haha I always get lost when the climb pro jumps on. it defines a climb as a climb when people create a segment of it in strava or komoot. somthere may be many more climbs but if they are not named by someone they will not appear in climb pro but you need to get up those anyways 😅

    I have check Oceanside bike course and it has a big climb; I wouldn't do it for my first Ironman (even half distance). Second note, I have changed the bike to have 11-36 12 speed cassette, that is way better for climbs. I can climb on higher cadence, and it's not killing my knees. On run I would recommend you practice sport walk; it may be as fast as your run but let traumatic to your body. And the hardest part is to control diet and exclude everything that need to excluded. No cheat days, ever. I have done 4 triathlons on short distance to have a practice and dedicated myself one full year of training for my first half-Ironman and selected the flattest course available. All the best wishes to you, don't stop you are doing great. You are already better than 1% of people who said it's too hard to try.

    I am someone who is unbelievably injury-prone, it is just my MSK makeup, I do have regular physio, 2x week personal trainer for strength training, and the occasional sport massage... so clearly my injuries are just happening no matter what. And I have had to learn to be very attuned to my body so I can tell the difference between extreme discomfort and pain. This means sometimes going slower than I wanted, changing course, or more recently DNS on 2 races... it's OK, you only have one body so take care of it, there will be more races to come

    I appreciate when people keep it real! We've all had our setbacks: - In 2022, I was supposed to do the Malibu Tri and broke my collarbone 2 weeks before the race. - In 2023, I pulled my hamstring 2 months before 70.3 Morro Bay. I got it done, but it wasn't pretty. - In 2024, I'm signed up for Ironman California. I hurt myself in November 2023 and haven't been able to run without pain since then (went to Dr., PT, all that). I changed up my strategy and I'm just trying to see if I can speed walk the run get sneak in under 17 hrs. The point is, setbacks are part of the game. Give it your best and lay it all out there. Good luck and I look forward to the next video. I have no doubt you will finish.

    Hey. Decent video, could use better editing on the talking heads. Regardless congratulation on finishing the first two stages of your Ironman! You clearly are very driven!!! I’d like to respectfully give some advice: plantar fasciitis can be exasperated by weight. I can’t imagine going through all this effort to travel to an Ironman and have a coach and all the equipment but deny your body the chance to be able to perform by being overweight. You shouldn’t limit yourself to not finishing or being the best you can be. If u lost the weight and kept training, with your knowledge and passion for Ironman you could defnintly start getting real places in a race instead of hoping not to be cut!!!! Hope this finds you well, wish u the best.

    • @EveryBodyTri
      @EveryBodyTri Před 19 dny

      Thanks for watching. I personally have made a choice not to address weight loss on my channel because it’s personal to me and not what this channel is about, so I won’t really address my personal goals or lack thereof regarding weight. I’m not an expert on PF so I can’t really speak to whether or not it’s exacerbated by weight, but I do know that a lot of people, including very fit athletes and even professional athletes, get it. When you are overweight and get an injury, everyone always wants to blame it on the weight. Sometimes it’s just that active people get injured, overuse and otherwise. I can respect your opinion that this might not be how you would want to do it- showing up for races while overweight- and that’s totally fine for you or anyone else that feels that way. I have struggled with my weight my whole life, I have lost weight and gained it back, etc. I have struggled with the same thoughts you are speaking- when I fail it’s easy to blame it on the weight. But I personally made a promise to myself that I’m not going to let my weight stop me from making goals or trying to achieve them. That’s what works for me. I am so passionate about this sport and I may or may not ever lose weight- so why deny myself of the ability to try in the meantime? That’s what works for me and you can disagree and that’s okay! You can do it differently. Best, Kate

    • @kinseybruno5920
      @kinseybruno5920 Před 19 dny

      @@EveryBodyTri hmmm I understand where your coming from. But if you’ll look at your response the biggest issue is that you’re not an expert on the things that will take you further in the sport your so passionate about. As distance athletes you have to take these little hints from your body and run with them (no pun intended) to get better. A wonderful approach would be to learn everything about PF and attack it with knowledge and a plan. For example looking into the physical therapy for it, unfortunately all literature will lead u to the point I made, that it is in fact proven to be worsened by weight. We all have DNF before! I have as well, but you need to look at the reason why u didn’t finish and attack that reason head on. My first DNF was really hard bc it was caused all by things I could have changed. But I made those changes and now I’m placing top twenty. My original reason to comment was bc u seem to be very driven and motivated to do triathlon! I would love to see you use that to go further on in the sport and would love to see you lose weight! What a wonderful idea to inspire others!!! I don’t disagree with being overweight and running, actually every race I’ve been to I’ve been inspired to see people who aren’t in the typical shape we expect to see… but I also like to think they are on a health journey, as we all are in one way or another. I’m sorry if my comment offended you. Have a great day. I too struggle with my own addictions. - kinsey
