Saw this movie for the first time last night at a special screening at Alamo Drafthouse and this scene still hasn't left me, when the light goes on and you see the gator under the leaves my eyes went WIDE

This fantasy world is now possibly renamed pride land due to the rainbows

For a campy 80s film, I must say the director did a great job with this scene...really effective. So effective that to this day I get the creeps if I get into a pool at night.

I saw this scene at a relatives house when i was about 5-6 and it absolutely horrified me how only the one kid could see the danger & just how quickly an accidental death could happen. I remember my parents trying to reassure me that the other boys didn't see the gator & thought his screams was him just playing along. But i remember arguing that the kid was still in serious danger of drowning because his hands were tied. It felt to me like the two other boys decided they wanted to play this "game" & the plank-walker was forced into it

This was my whole personality as a small child

51 years old I still remember this scene. I had to be about 10 years old when I saw it give or take. And I will always still look at a pool before I jump in.

Its so funny to think, in my brain, having watched this as a 5 year old, I thought the kids were re-enacting the sarlacc pit from ROTJ, and the alligator was in the pool. Not pirates pushing a kid in... Regardless it terrified me as a kid and still have to look in the pool before jumping in.... hahaha talk about traumatized kids...
