I think the game's biggest problem is that it doesn't clearly explain the core gameplay loop, leading people to get confused because they expect mechanics that aren't there. It's not a colony sim, or even a real-estate sim. It's basically a strategy game: you look at the available build sites in each region, and pick the right combination of buildings that will let you recruit the right combination of colonists to upgrade the region as much as possible. Most of the game's mechanics are completely self-explanatory; every building tells you where you can build it, what it costs, and what it provides, and that's all you need to know. The food producer gives you three food points when you build it; it costs one food point to build a house; that's it. It doesn't produce anything beyond those initial points, which is fine because your colonists don't have a continuing need for food; you just have to have a point available when you build a house.

Very cute. I thought it was underwater at first but I guess that's the "night time" colour palette. Having bugger all instruction set apart from "here's a set of things that do things for/to other things" instead of "connect thing A to thing B using the big flashing highlighted bit then use this highlighted bit to make dongle X and then use dongle X by putting it in flashing bit Y" [repeat a few dozen times with different things' I find rather refreshing. Like back in the 80s and 8-bit gaming, especially when you'd tape copied a game and had _zero_ instructions for it!

From my understanding the resources from each area are applicable across the whole continent. so lava in one area can be used to build a building needing its resource in another area. also settler rep is total settler type x improvements so 2 buildings in a zone that provide yellow increase the reputation by 1.5 x settlers.

Once an expedition save is created, people should be able to join a friend's squad in the expedition. But yeah, it's probably a good idea for them to put people together in the same instance if people are starting from the Anomaly. At the 1:10:00 mark in dealing with Sentinels- the Sentinel behavior was updated some time ago during the big Sentinel update that introduced the Sentinel pillars, updates to existing and new variants of the robots. You can't run or hide from sentinels until you wipe out the ones in your vicinity, then you can get into a cave or just keep running. Speaking of the Sentinel variants, I'll mention two of them you came across. One repairs other Sentinels, there's a repair icon that pops up above it and it shoots out a green particle effect towards the other robots; the other calls for / spawns reinforcements and has a radio icon above it while shooting a different particle effect and renders in two new robots. 1:58:00 Exotic ship sighting on that freighter. That means you can use either a landing pad on the space station, trading platform, or archive in offline mode and wait for another exotic ship to land. First get the units to buy one (I'd probably get at least 20 mil units) and then scan for a trading platform in the system if you have an economy scanner installed on your current ship. 2:12:00 Now that I think about it, there are C-class ship upgrades that you can buy from either the space stations or Anomaly and disassemble them for Cadmium & Wiring Looms, so that's actually a cheaper way to obtain Wiring Looms. I'll edit this comment later with the particular upgrade(s).

Everyone off doing their own thing, no teamwork like the old 7 days live streams with the crew.. i wish you all picked one person to run quest and everyone else joins until he or laney(I say pick the int spec person to do the quest) is at max tier, not everyone should try to get their tiers up, do that later when your gear is high from running missions with that one person. This way we can see the chaos crew as a dang crew. Also i understand the magazines issues, but running POI on random, or buying from trader, and mailboxes will all give you your magazines, so no need to focus on end loot when odds are you won't get many or any magazines for you anyway. BTW when you all go out farming magazines stick together, go in with 2 teams and the odd one joins who ever. That way you dont die and stay in a boring loot collection that us the chat has to sit through lol, anyway this is my advice hopefully you read and hear me out 😊

My favorite RE1 moment is definitely the time my buddies and I poked a Kamirat with 4 early game combat CVs, a single torpedo bomber, a tank swap rotation and BALLS OF STEEL! once we got the shields down and saw the bomber launch and hear "bombs away!" over discord... and seeing the front of the ship get DELETED?? That was epic!!

for me over the course of RE1 its a major toss up.. between your "welcome to the death loop" and the sheer surprise of that zyrax installation vaporizing your ship in less than a seconds "oh.... OH... OHHHHHHH!!!!!' though its not always RE1... the coined phrase "hates you" is always a warm comphy spot in the soul to hear

The end of an era, hopefully the RE dynamic duo can finish RE2 enough to not have as many server wipes

Really looking forward to playing RE2 multiplayer once it's more or less stable/ feature complete enough, and seeing a new RE2 multiplayer series here. Nothing really beats going on an adventure to rescue your friend who got stranded on some planet or moon after their plastic ship got too close to a Zirax POI. I think all of my strongest memories of Reforged Eden, or I guess Empyrion generally, are when something goes horribly, horribly wrong, and you just have to salvage the situation. I remember once having my starter CV blown up while I was mining, and having to pick through the floating loot, putting precious items in the one remaining intact cargo container before ultimately freezing to death. Or when my SV was blown up in low orbit, and I had to use my jet pack to get back down to the planet's surface where I broke my leg, and had to scavenge for food, medical supplies, and enough to make a hoverbike to get to my base on the other side of the planet. Empyrion is a janky mess, and I love it dearly - even so, I think I might have tired of it long ago if not for Reforged Eden, so I'm excited to experience even more disasters in RE2.

Thank you so much for your Empyrion play throughs, although I am not enamored with RE2 - too many restrictions being placed on players. My favorite moment was on your Sector Command assault and the death loop you got caught in.

What an amazing mod RE1 has been and RE2 looks even better! Thanks for all the content. 🙂My best moment was at the first start-up of RE1. The jaw-drop of all the new stuff to acquire and the diversity of missions to do.

Hello! I just came back to rewatch this series as the breaking bad came to end.

Epic as always....all series were fun all the way back to when i started watching with alpha 7 or something lol. i bought the game cause of you bro and you taught me how to play. can't wait for any and all misadventures to come in RE2.

It will be sad to see RE1 go, but nothing lasts forever.

I haven’t been able to find a planet that has base attacks like this and it makes me sad. I even cranked up the base attacks to max on the settings, teleported in GM across the galaxy looking for something like this and they are all level 1 and don’t happen near as frequent.

That was a good series and a fitting farewell to RE 1. Favorite moments? I like the hand to hand combat when the game is cheating and death loops abound. Nice to have companionship in my own death loop misery. And of course the space battles when you get a new ship and can see what it does compared to the old one. I like the occasional multi player attack on a POI. Even with the jitters and lag it's fun to see a game that allows such a scale of cooperation.
